You all do play it.
And you spend the day on the forum here.
How odd. It's almost as if, well...
It's as if you are using a free trial of another MMO to try and get CCP to do what you want. So now you are inadvertently screwing two games, one completely innocent.
Wish I had friends like you IRL.
I do, I do.
Mr Epeen

Perpetuum > EvE and heres why.
At 3.10 they took down the server to apply a patch, estimated downtime 1 hour.
Server back up at 3.43.
When was the last time a patch deployment in EvE took LESS time than anticipated :)

I know you're just a troll, but you have to subscribe to join a corp, and a few hundred did. So the "innocent" game at a bare minimum gets an injection of a few thousand dollars.

Why play a 2d copy when I can play the 3d original?
It was agreed by everyone on this forum to be ****e when it first came out, and nothing's changed.
Mind you, I'd go play it if non-vanity items are introduced here...

No such thing was agreed. Quite a few people said "Meh, not for me, but it looks like it has promise in the future". _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Written by one of the more respected members of the Eve community. I wholeheartedly agree with his post.
Most of the EVE refugees who left don't have an objective view of the matter and are simply saying stuff, unknowingly, to spite CCP.
In short; Perp cannot survive in the long run by simply copying EVE memes. CCP sustained itself for the long run because of creativity and innovation as one of the ultimate sandbox MMOs. And yes, CCP screwed up big time with the recent fallout but given all that, there is still nothing even close to competition in this market for EVE. That shows either the lack of innovation and business acumen from its competition or the strength of innovation from CCP. The truth, I imagine, is somewhere in between.
When people stop calling PERP as "Eve but with robots" and just refer to it as Perp, then you know you have a winner.
PS- And a follow up to his post.

Edited by: Takseen on 30/06/2011 22:45:49 He didn't even mention the impact of line of sight on actually doing damage to stuff you've targeted in Perp, so I'm not sure he's gotten completely to grips with the game. On the other hand I do agree that of all the things they decided to copy from Eve, they could have not taken their mediocre UI.

What would you have done differently?
Giant 1 inch across item icons in the private storage would get shrunk down or switched to text view. I'd go with the (imo) superior "all chats in one window and use slash commands to indicate which one to send messages to" model over Eve's "seperate chat windows for every chat" approach. I also think putting damage notifications in the world view itself, as well as in the combat log window would be good. Keep the combat log as a way to review fights afterwards, but atleast that way you don't have to have yet another window open during fights.
I'm not in that much of a hurry to see any changes like this made, but you did ask what I'd have done differently.

And it wasn't sarcasm either. I'm just interested in what would be done differently.
Personally I prefer the eve chat box method over the WoW-Esque version. Though, it is possible to have the slashtag version and have different windows for different chats, so I guess in the end I'd be neutral.
Damage notifications in the world is iffy, but the option wouldn't hurt. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008
