These types of events typicaly culminate with a lot of "obvious" and then a massive "Surprise" to throw the audience off balance.
So what will it be?
What will the big suprise be?
CCP Release new ship. Its shaped like a massive Monocle and has 8 High Slots for $1000 Jeans?
CCP Fires all low end employees and outsources to India?
EVE Becomes F2P?
What will it be?

You will all accept MT including PTW items and you will like it, because we know what you want more than you do.
We're not upset that you lied to us CCP, we're upset that from now on we can't believe you.

CCP announces that they might have acted like total douchebags about the MT thing, are sincerely sorry, bring back the old hangar and make CQ optional with plans to actually fix it, reduce the prices in the Aurum store and give enough Aurum for a shirt to every subscriber, take back plans to add P2W, gag all the monocle-trolls on the forum and remove some of the assets being used for WoD and Dust to work on EVE.
At least, that's what would surprise ME.

I will likely be surprised at the number of players that will actually praise ccp for this obvious pr stunt of a meeting.

The CSM was called to Iceland to face charges of inciting an online riot, have been imprisoned and disbanded. Effective tomorrow, ammo can no longer be produced in game and can only be purchased with Aurum. To balance laser crystals, each shot fired will cost a certain minimum about of aurum.

i kinda think this will happen. The part about giving players AURUM.
Or at least a means of earning it outside of paying money.
There are a lot of people who just cant afford the items. If CCP gives them a way of working for them, without paying money, they might be satisfied.
Maybe each month you are subbed youget x amount of AURUM. Or even for in game things. Convert ISK back into aurum. Or take over sov an dhold it for so long, or something.

That's a brilliant idea. If only there was some way to buy aurum with isk.
I'd be surprised if the forums didn't turn into a steaming cauldron of rage filled self-righteous ****s regardless of the outcome.

CCP lowering the NEX prices to one twentieth of the old one and promising, in written, that they will never sell play to win items in eve.
OFC this will never happen.

Edited by: Taedrin on 30/06/2011 15:25:21 My guess: 1) CCP clarifies that they have no current plans to introduce non-vanity items for Aurum 2) On the other hand, CCP clarifies that they NEVER intended to promise that there would NEVER be non-vanity items for Aurum. Meaning that while there are no current plans, they want it to be available as an option in the future, should player's opinions change.
Please note that I do not think that CCP has ever explicitly promised not to sell non-vanity items for Aurum. This is the quote in question:
Quote: Virtual goods sales in EVE Online will evolve through sales of vanity items, first in Incarna but later in-space features. The scope will be (and thereæs no design has been done around this, weære just talking strategy now) that anything that doesnæt affect gameplay directly can be, potentially, sold for PLEX or other means. Ideas that have come up include Incarna clothing and furniture, logos on spaceships and swapping out portraits. This is by no means a comprehensive list, nor is it a commitment that said items will be available for sale, I mention these as an example for what type of items weære thinking about.
The problem is that players seem to be interpreting the words "The scope will be" as a promise. Yet, this sentence is ambiguous. What scope are we talking about? The scope of Incarna? Or are we talking about the scope of all microtransactions that could ever possibly exist in EVE's future? I have a feeling that CCP intended the scope to be about Incarna only, and not to have made a commitment to never extending microtransactions to non-vanity items.
My opinion is that I could personally care less about microtransactions. I only care about two things: 1) Is EVE Online a fun game to play? 2) Does CCP maintain clear and honest communication with their playerbase?
As of late, CCP has failed with respect to #2, so my two accounts are unsubbed and set to expire on the 4th of July. If CCP is able to redeem itself by being honest and straightforward with their players, then I will resub - regardless if CCP wants to mess around with microtransactions and non-vanity items. ----------

It will be announced that non-vanity items will be become destructable at the end of summer.
And the second surprise is that in the winter expansion we get combat boosters for AUR.

Since I'm not expecting anything to emerge from the meeting, I would have to say that a simple public statement from CCP of "We screwed up" would surprise me.
No fancy spin, no clever wordsmithing to deflect the issues... just a simple "we FRELLed up".
At best, it would be refreshing. At worst, nothing changes.

Edited by: Sylthi on 30/06/2011 15:31:26 What will suprise me? If anything MEANINGFUL and concrete comes out of this at all. I mean, there is no way that anything concrete CAN come out of this meeting. After all, they'll say ANYTHING to keep us paying them what they THINK their owed. They lie. Unfortunately that is apparently all CCP knows how to do now days: lie to cover up their failures and shortcomings.
Not to mention, Hilmar has already issued his marching orders to the troops: "Stay the course." That is what he said, and that is exactly what is going to happen.
I am only tuning in because I am at work, its a slow day, and have nothing better to do right now. Curiosity is getting the better of me in that I DO want to hear the absolutely pile of stinking corporate BS that is going to roll out of the CSM's mouths when they come out of there.
It doesn't matter what any of us say or want. It doesn't even matter what is said at this meeting. MTs are here to stay, and game altering MTs (P2W) will soon be a fact of life, no matter what they "promise" us. Anyone who is trying to convince themselves otherwise is just lying to themselves. I hate it. I hate it with ever fiber of my being that the company running the game I have loved so MUCH in the past is treating us all this way. But they are. And they will continue to do so. And NOTHING short of the customer base shrinking by over half (within a couple days) will get them to do anything differently.
But, you asked what would suprise me.... I think I covered that bit early on before I got on my soap box.
Peace all. *

I would be surprised if they got any sort of commitment about devs being assigned to in space eve. Certainly if I were on csm that is what I would be doing that is the real problem. But I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't even come up.
If it does come up I bet it is seleene who raises it.

If that happened because then I will have been happily wrong and be worried over the state of the game for nothing, I hate predicting the worst case scenarios but more often than not it is the worse ones that are more likely to happen in this day and age.
That said, I would settle for just having nothing but vanity items set in stone properly, however I think if we got that solution it still would be a bit of a slap in the face for those of us who enjoy games that go beyond PvP and grinding.
