it was those two internal documents, that fearless newsletter and that email. when i read those, i stopped giving them the benefit of the doubt. when they claimed that they were just discussing ideas, i looked at the words they said amoungst themselves and the words they said to us, and found they were not at all the same.
so, no more sub. they only care about my money, so they can't have it.

The reason that EVE is dying is that someone pulled the curtain aside, let us see the Wizard, let us know what his plans were and let us know what he really thinks of us. That's called GOOD COMMUNICATION. We gained accurate information that allowed us to make an informed decision.
If the communication 2.5 years ago had been as good as the communication has been in the last week, I damn sure never would have started playing this game.
^This.
At this point I'm almost HOPING for a Sony buyout. How much worse could Sony do? The major problem for me is not the game. The game's great. It's the management that has gone completely off course. What's the worst that could happen? Sony ruins the game with performance enhancing... oh, nevermind.
At least with Sony I know where I stand instead of being dragged into this charade of insincere requests for player involvement and input beyond paying sub fees.

CCP's dishonesty - that's what troubles me. I have no problem with them endorsing item mall and microtransactions, I just want to know if they are really going to do that so I can leave and not waste my time and money. Because I am not playing such games.

Faith? I have faith on God.
Well to me its more of trusting CCP. I dont trust them to think whats best for us players and long term survive of EvEonline. For me its now brake or make moment, im watching what ccp will do now. If i dont like what theyr doing, ill walk with my wallet.
For me this game has been special that your success on it depends on your brain and how you use it. Not size of your real-life wallet. CCP claims eve is real? So lets keep it real, i cant go to cardealer and buy supercar in real world. There is no Pay2Win options in real world. So if eve is real, why should eve then have some?
If ccp is so desperate need to money, let them start selling shares then, i would be hapy to become minority owner of ccp games. Few hundred euros from thousands of people. Thats going to pile up.
CCP as someone tweetet, your game teaches us to be ruthless and deteminated on our goal. Im sorry were not silenced lambs for your accounting department. * Revolution changes worlds * CCP, players are watching, no empty promises. |

It might have been, but wouldn't have warented a new thread. I am looking for the points on which people started thinking "WTF is CCP doing?" not the pay to win speculation that finally pushed them too far. Though for a lot of people pay to win is that point I think most EVE players had moments before that were riddled with facepalming and directed at CCP.

the only reason they have made it this far is because there isnt another game like it... I really hope there is a game designer out there that see whats happening here and says to himself I could do it better and starts making an alternative with the same flexability the EvE universe gave us
Personally I would rather see CCP grow up and stop acting like an ADHD kid trowing tantrums and running from shiney new toy to shiney new toy.
Originally by: Shepard Book
Stop acting like you speak for all the players. I can not wait for the new forums and to be able to block people just like you, and that is the majority of the whiners lately. Leave and find another game to troll.
As I asked before, please state your reasoning for your continued faith in CCP. What makes you happy with their past and present preformance. Just calling me a troll is too simple. Counter my arguments with arguments so I can understand your reasoning. Otherwise I will just assume you ARE simple and not concider your comments at all.

Please be more specific. I don't really understand that sentance, but it might be me just being stupid.
Originally by: Typhoon Warfreak My faith in CCP is that they don't completely screw over the game, and keep the servers running.
My faith in humanity is the same as it always has been, at about absolute zero. Honestly, the sense of self-importance, and it's about me attitude, is somewhat sickening. I'm just here to troll, to laugh at some questionable logic, and just passing time since I'm not at home playing EVE.
Don't you think we might expect more then simply "they don't comepletely screw over the game, and keep the servers running."? It seems such a low bar to set a company bent on providing entertainment.

My view on it is not so bleak. The leaked post thingy is clearly rallying the troops. That it holds a definite "us against the player" message is a stupid responce to being challanged that I hope is just that, a stupid responce that was given by the sentiment of the moment.

I really do hope CCP will circulate or at least glance at this and all the other constructive comments bundled herein. Keep it comming people. Because it does feel like a make or break moment.

They said they would put off developing or fixing anything about the the spaceship part of the game (which is the only part I enjoy) for 18 months. Yeah that sucked but I appreciated their honesty.
Now 18 months is coming up in December and I still hear nothing about how they are going to reassign devs away from incarna (which is clearly just a sort of beta for WOD and an opportunity for ccp to squeeze more money out of us with mt - thats why it doesn't need any gameplay) and how they will start really assigning substantial numbers of devs to inspace.
So now I'm tired of waiting for them to fix and improve the game. I won't pay while I wait any more. I am unsubbing and waiting for the actual expansion release.

For me it was quantum rise , do you know how many ships became worthless after that expansion? Whole weapon systems became unusable, and it took YEARS to fix, much of it is still broken.
And for what? A few idiots who didnt equip webs and nuets? Fleets without tacklers?that expansion, for me,proved they never knew what they were doing Signature removed for evading the profanity filter and trolling. Zymurgist |

You are entirely right, fail on my part, chasm would be better suited.
The usage of the word faith is because faith is given without ever having to earn it where trust is earned. You lose faith in an addicts ability to recover, the addict has to earn back lost trust after he enters recovery.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Very spot on.
I would just add a bit - players have outgrown CCP, but instead of trying to keep the pace, CCP now is on everything but EVE. Thus the speed with which players and CCP separate now doubled or tripled.

When I came here in very early '08 after burning out on Warcraft, the community here was like walking into paradise, whether I was talking with pirates or carebears alike.
Now... it's shameful at best, in fact, I have this gnawing fear that the reason it is this way is because the vast majority of the people I met when I came here have moved on, and been replaced by the kind of juiced up youths with the emotional IQ of a toddler in Warcraft that I tried so hard to get away from.
/sigh
CCP has never been the most amazing company in the world, nor has their product ever been top notch, but when you put it all together as a whole, they have pretty much got it all, it is just not all perfect.
There is a difference between a shiny turd (Warcraft) and a well used billiard ball (EVE), one is full of ___ and the other just has a LOT of nicks and scratches.
The latter adds character IMO.

Yes I have lost faith in CCP now that they have been exposed for what they really are and how they view us to be.
The community has always been a bunch of self centered low life dirt bags but at least they never tried to pretend to be something else.

I saw some report about working conditions in CCP HQ over at iceland... (find it urself, should be easy enough)
Said that most the Devs don't even give a rats ass about EvE and there is no real clear direction where the development process is going.
So yeah, zero faith in CCP at the moment.

Consistently releasing patches with known highly annoying (e.g. X to close windows vanishing when you try to click it) to game breaking (e.g. mod stats not being applied) bugs as reported on test servers.
Introducing new features and then abandoning them, or making half arsed nerfs (e.g. mission agents) and calling that an upgrade.
The focus on fluff like CQ and WIS while current bugs and, design issues and features are ignored.
The incredibly bad decisions (that are painfully obvious!) that lead to muddy indistinguishable turret icons when the previous ones were very good, and The Door, to give just two examples. -- The Door! |

I've never had faith in CCP, but rather had faith in the idea that they wouldn't betray their vision for EvE because it was working for them. Even though EvE is a niche game, it was the only decent game in that niche, and still had a great deal of promise.
Recently, I see that the focus on money has lead CCP astray. Unless they get their crap together, I have faith they'll run this game into the ground through neglect of thier original vision. You cannot ignore the space part of the space simulator for long and keep EvE alive.

The thing about leaked internal documents is that it's hard to say it does not represent your TRUE feelings on a subject. And those true feelings were made clear in the leaked email and verified by the first blog post. I'm sure CCP will do a decent job spinning this and placating the masses in the end. It's the responsible thing to do, on a corporate level. But I will never forget that when CCP thought we couldn't hear what they were saying, we got to hear what they REALLY think about us and about enhancement items for AUR...a golden goose, and a golden opportunity for profit, respectively.
Had I met Zulu before this, I would have bragged about it. Now, I honestly don't think I would want to shake his hand if we ever ended up in the same room. Nothing personal, just business. I'm sure you understand.
This explains exactly how I feal.

The OP and others who have fleshed out the details are on the mark.
A lot of people want to belong something they can be loyal to, and to believe that their support will be rewarded. For a long time I felt Eve was worthy of that loyalty and support, and that it was beyond the egos and pettiness that characterize corporate culture.
It is obvious now I was mistaken. I'm looking for other pastimes, as I have basically mentally withdrawn from Eve.
