Originally by: NARDAC CCP may be right. It may be an insignificant % of people that post, and an insignificant number of them may actually quit.
What I do know is that I have unsubbed all 4 of my accounts. I gave away my rorq, couple mack, noctis, and about 500 BPOs last night. I have to do some carreir jumps and then freighter hauling to get the rest of my stuff in position to be convenient for other friend, but I'll be giving away all my hulks, my fenrir, and most other support stuff.
Haven't decided to whom I will be giving the macherial, the carreir, etc. I have decided to transfer the cash to the guy that recruited me to the game.
It will take a couple more days to finish liquidating, but once done, I'm unlikely to be back.
If the $50 a month I was paying was not enough for CCP, then they won't be getting my $50 a month.
Same... my cancellations were legitimately "per paying account" cancellations and CCP knows it, whatever the trolls may speculate. Not "per character" accounts. Nice try with the troll people, but utter failure. Of the people whom I've spoken to that I know actually did cancel accounts, not one attempted a "per character" scam post.

Let me put this in terms that someone like you can understand:
CCP tried to bend the playerbase over and **** us up the ass.
You and many others are okay with that.
Those of us who aren't are leaving (perhaps waiting for the results of this meeting or subscriptions to run out to confirm what they already expect is a foregone conclusion) or have left.
In a few months time, CCP will find that their plan didn't work and they will unveil their new plan: Double Penetration!
Eventually EVE will have one subscriber, Mr. Slave.
He will be declared the winner of EVE.

The amount quitting is not insignificant.
Not for a company in such bad financial straights.
Between the 1-2% they lost due to upgrading to shader 3, and then an additional 3-5% of actual cancellations that's a pretty large hit to any companies bottom line.

"I'm done with this game, I have 30bil and I'm giving it out to random people so before I quit, whoever sends me isk will get double isk back." Month... after month... after month.
Takes a long time to quit eve doesn't it? If people were really quitting, they wouldn't be posting on the forms claiming to quit. They'd actually do it. People like to lie and trololllll all the live long day and go on and on and on about how hard they quit and how much harder they'll quit the next day.
Cus trying to quit eve is like trying to quit drugs and going on anti drug programs. Takes years to quit. Eve is like those hardcore drugs!

I agree with you 100% on this comment. You have to remember that for an addict to actually give up a drug there has to be a "Defining moment", when an event acts as the tipping point. For many this maybe just that event. Only time will tell.
I just checked my mains account activity and this is the first break I've taken in paying subs since Sept. 2006. I may come back, I may not. That will depend on how EVE evolves from now and what, if any, changes are made.

Not if they substitute 1 drug (MMO) for another.

Takes exactly as long as their accounts have to run. In my case 52 days and 61 days. ------------- 'Don't try to learn Eve all at once, otherwise your brain will explode' - Albert Einstein ------------ |

So, a week and half later and finally the rest of the player base accepts what the more intelligent among us knew from the start. No in game advantage, newsletter was just internal agent provocateur. Kind of amusing seeing how utterly over excited many of you got over a leaked crappy newsletter and some rather poor external comms.
I guess once again I was right, but I did enjoy trolling those of you who weren't intelligent enough to see what was going on. CSM 6: Let's get Windypops indypops. |
