I suppose to tide the trolls, until CCP and CSM post the official responses he gave a bit of `a review of the trip and to give that yes/no answer....
"By this point my liver is beginning to adjust to the constant barrage of coffee, alcohol, and no sleep. I have no real hangover going into Friday. Friday morning we discuss microtransaction policy/future plans - the takeaway is, ofc, no gold ammo, nothing really new from the May summit, just a whole pile of terrible messaging mostly as a consequence of the NeX ****ups + the Fearless leaks.
No one in CCP gives a **** about Fearless, it's toilet reading. Sorry. It looks controversial as hell to players but it's ****. This is where a bunch of you are going to cry and clutch your favorite conspiracy theories, but you don't know what you're talking about. The significance of Greed is Good, ofc, is the leak, the botched handling of the messaging afterwards, the Angryblog, etc. But the newsletter itself is just company garbage, the same crap most companies have. "

ya cant wait to see the official CSM/CCP responses, but i think what it comes down to it is EN24, putting gas on the nightmare that was expensive goods in the NeX balooning the problem into something it wasn't and the fact ccp decided not to add cheap things to the NeX at the same time really made it a perfect storm of ****.

He really expects us to believe this load of crap? They had a week to get their story straight before they talked to him as well.
The hilmar email confirms that they dont think the Newsletter is toiletpaper. they had a week to decide to tell everyone no one takes it seriously. Thats baloney to anyone that ever worked in a corporate environment.
CCP is a bunch of liars. And they bought off the CSM to sell their snake oil.

Not to contradict the OP...of course not, but I read interviews of actual, current employees who said that "toilet reading" (as you put it) is actually a standard management tool - referred to by the professionals who produce them as "internal information." According to those interviewed, that publication is to inform the employees of the direction the company intends to take to "get all the boats pointed in the same direction." This sounds more accurate, having been in the profession which produces this sort of internal information for quite a considerable amount of time. I'd be surprised if they didn't have one.

Funny how stating that every opinion that doubts the truth of this statement is a 'conspiracy theory' doesn't improve anything at all.
If 'Fearless' is actually **** then it makes CCP a **** company like all the other **** companies who print **** like that and expect their employees to read said ****. It also means that their lead designer takes time to deliver a very refined (but horrible) message in a **** internal publication.
If Mittens is correct then CCP internal communication sucks. If Mittens is wrong then CCP as a company sucks.

Corporate brainwashing, only these things are so ridiculously transparent that managers in many companies actually make it mandatory for everyone to read this bull**** every time something new is released.
A complete joke of a practice if there ever was one. Internal newsletters are garbage, if your employees give a damn about the company they don't need one because they already know what's going on.
If they don't, you just make them hate you more for producing such drivel and forcing it upon them.

I'm not buying it either. Downplaying the significance of the Fearless letter is just a strategy: first voiced by Pann, and now apparently compounded by the CSM.
The Hilmar email leaves little room for interpretation.
I hope the CSM is going to come up with something a whole lot better than this.
P.S. And CSM members, stop drinking so much, and telling us how wasted you were. You have a job to do, dammit! Just do it!

If CCP and the CSM comes out with a good Dev Blog and says the NEX store is vanity only then I will continue to play this awsome game.
If they come out and say that they may introduce 'Pay to Win' items in the future I will leave my accounts unsubbed (This one has 10 days ish left on it)
If they come out non commital I will leave 2 of my accounts unsubbed and keep this one going until they actually do come down on one side of the fence or the other. Then make a discision based on that.

I'm sorry but the whole toilet reading thing is crap. The fact that that the newsletter was leaked speaks volumes. Some will say its just a disgruntled employee who was unhappy and betrayed his colleagues and employers....fine I wont disagree with that. However add to that the email and a lot of the players got the message that was being conveyed. So bitter or someone who actually cared about the direction EVE was heading, he still had a point to make.
Whatever happens its time to put these last few weeks behind us and move on. A lot of the players have shown their discontent to CCP, its up to them whether they listen or not. At the end of the day we lose a game, there is much more on the line for them. CCP developed a game that has been immense pleasure to play. I have never experienced a game that has had such a long lasting effect on me. If they decide to continue on the path they are on for EVE well thanks for the memories and no hard feelings. I hope that the newer players get half as much fun out the game that I have. |

"Fearless" is like every other company internal newsletter/team briefing.
Its intended to tell the employee where the company is going in terms of general strategy.
It is toilet reading for most employees. It is gospel for most senior managers though.
Fearless reads like "this is the plan guys, going to be :awesome: now get onboard".

But (un)fortunately they don't get to decide what is relevant to me or anyone else.

Originally by: Othran "Fearless" is like every other company internal newsletter/team briefing.
Its intended to tell the employee where the company is going in terms of general strategy.
It is toilet reading for most employees. It is gospel for most senior managers though.
Fearless reads like "this is the plan guys, going to be :awesome: now get onboard".
Mittens is spinning
^^ Exactly this. Of course the newsletter means little to most employees -- it rarely does. Unfortunately, regular employees have no say in the matter. It's the brass that determines what direction the company will take; and to them it's important. THAT's what matters.
Hence, the Fearless letter is important.

Why then, did it take CCP a week plus, to answer our questions in what would have taken them 1 hour t resolve? Instead, we get a condiscending statement stating tha what we say isnot important as what we do. Also, implying we are nothing but cash cows to be milked til dry. AGAIN, CCP, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO ADMIT YOU CAUSED THIS FROM THE BEGINNING AAD START LIVING UP TO WHA YOUR "ABOUT" PAGE STATES? Or do I need to repost it so you are reminded of it again.
Also, why then, during all of the rage, did the devs stop posting with their dev alts? Instead, the forums are baraged with troll post which are clearly seen as devs in disguise.

Sorry for quoting myself - got dough rising (don't ask!) but the only thing missing from "Fearless" is a section for the Sports & Social Club* - it'd be more or less identical to an old Racal team briefing I had to give.

Being a journalist, the thing we are all taught is to check our facts. In other words, facts need to have multiple sources. Looking back at this, all the information was disciminated from Eve 24. If this was a true whistle-blower, then there would have been other new sources that wound up with the information. The fact Eve 24 was the one breaking all the news has me a bit suspect.
That being said, if this is all an elaborate smoke screen, and they do go through with "pay-to-win" items in the future, they have seen the player base's reaction. They know what to expect now. If they go through with it, its just time to move on. I know I will. I mean, you can pretty much call them liars at that point if they do go through with it. Until then, enjoy the game. There is really no point to keep spending your $15 to riot while you could be enjoying the game for what it was intended.

I don't think that the OP understands what a Troll is. In fact, the kumbaya crowd have been far more trollish on the forums than those who have been voicing concerns.
In fact, I can't think of any reason the kumbaya crowd would even post EXCEPT to troll about the issue. If you are happy with the direction EVE is going, and the state of play in EVE, shouldn't you be logged in mining or some crap?
As for whatevertheheck mitani twits - who cares? mitani went into the discussions believing that it was only CCP communications problems. Think about how telling such a belief is. If he did NOT know about the MTs before, but was still able to say that it is just communications problems before he even knew the extent of CCP planning... especially after the leaks which explicitly state that CCP will go to game affecting MTs, then that just means that Mitani supports "gold ammo" regardless of what he says publicly. On the other hand, if he did know the extent of CCP planning, before the summit, then that means that this entire issue was manufactured. It means that the "emergency meeting" was planned some weeks in advance. It means that the "leaked" emails were intentionally leaked... and that CCP is intentionally trolling us for the purposes of generating press and getting people to talk about $70 monocle instead of the lack of content in recent patches.

Two unsubbed accounts and two sold toons paying for the last previously subbed one says otherwise. I also gave about 6bn ISK away to make sure other people wouldn't be buying game time with real money in the next months to hurt CCPs cash flow. Concurrency numbers show that the 'meh, makes no difference' people are wrong.
CCP still gets money for plex bought with ISK. You must be smart.
He is apparently smarter than you. CCP GOT money (past tense) for the PLEX at an earlier time. Redeeming them for ingame time is, in fact, the equivalent of not paying CCP your sub in cash. Which is probably why the author said "cash flow" rather than "total income".

Do not jump through the gate guys. Hooold on the gate..
Before you tear into yet more fresh, red, forum meat stop a second and think about what you want from the CSM/Dev meeting..
1. Going into the meeting What is the best outcome that you would expect to get if you were the Chair of the CSM? 2. What is the worst outcome that you would expect, that would ruin the game for you and mean you have to leave? 3. What is the thing that if left un-said, will rot away and eat up your feelings about CCP and the game, make you fall out of love with Eve and leave you no option other than to leave because you're not having any fun and feel betrayed?
Now if you answer these honestly, you'll be ready to read the actual post that is made by CCP Fallout in the next few days and you'll be ready to watch Mittani and CCP talking through the issues on video.
If you already feel like point 3 and believe there is no way back for you then un-subscribe and gtfo.Hanging about in the forums is like someone who has been made redundant but still turns up to sit in the car park. HTFU.
The CSM had everything at their fingertips that concerned the player base but they will have had to have prioritised what to address. Some things may have been put on the agenda for the next meeting. So long as these things were at the end of your list then cool. Some issues raised run contrary to the direction that CCP wants to go with the game and they MUST be honest about those things they WILL NOT CHANGE.. no more fudge, or appeasement.. say it.
The bottom line is that if you want to continue playing Eve then you need to stay subcribed and supporting the Company. We have been given an insight into the difficulties a company and its senior employees has in growing up.We've read feedback from ex employees. We've been given an insight into the Company's financial health and some idea of the imperatives that Hilmar and the guys need to address by the end of this year to remain in business and CCP have been reminded that their wonderful customers are a determined bunch, who are extremely creative and supportive of one another.
My plea is to resist the temptation to seek yet more drama through conspiracies and focus on the few big things that really matter to you. Is it any wonder Hilmar asked his teams to watch what we did rather than what we said .. we say so much!

If you don't think that NEX is important to CCP you are kidding yourself, I suggest people review the AT9 interviews. A WHOLE lot of talking about the "store". Here is one of my favorites.
CCP Hammer AT9 - NEX Store
Here is CCP Hammer, on vacation but when he returns it's off to work on the store. Think of all the other places the game could use him but I guess the store is more pressing.

The fact that CCP confirmed that the document is legitimate invalidates your argument.
Right now they're just trying to spin it and walk it back. My hope is they are going to put those plans on hold based on player reaction and depending on what the actual cancellation metrics were it may put Pay to Win on the back burner for some time. Like I said that's my hope only time will tell.
This is a case of everyone knows they are liars they're just trying to spin it enough to save face as they walk back from the precipice.
Stealth edit: Which btw I'm ok with as long as they walk it back, everyone makes mistakes and complete confession is less important than the game continuing to exist minus non-vanity cash shops.

Let's assume for a minute that Fearless actually is company garbage. Let's assume it's just bull**** PR that gets circulated around the office.
Even if that is the case, Somebody thought the topic of microtransactions for game affecting items worth worth printing a bunch of copies. Even if we take CCP at their word that Fearless is meant to be a discussion piece (and if you really think it reads like a discussion, you're probably an avid viewer of either Fox or MSNBC), the question becomes Why were they discussing it in the first place?

Fearless is the internal newsletter of CCP it is produced, printed and distributed a few times per year.
It is an instrument of internal communication.
In many European countries, internal newspapers are seen one of its key instruments.
Istruments are used with a specific intention.
Facilitating a consensus about the goals of an organisation, organisational integrity is the task of internal communication.
If a central instrument of internal communications is used to further the acceptance of a specific strategy in an organisation, that use expresses its importance at least to the management.
Every other claim is just silly or a confession of utter incompetence.

The legitimacy of the "facts" really came into question after following Eve 24 news's twitter feed this week. It really seems like they were trying to feed fuel to the fire, and anyone that doesn't see that really nothing is going to appease. As for the summit i am quite happy with the results that have been feed to the public so far, like come on folks "NO GOLD AMMO". If my company produced an internal newsletter that rubbed customers faces in it.. it certainly wouldn't have any customers and hence it wouldn't be a multi-billion market leader. This kind of unprofessional moronic 'crap' has no place in a real company even if it is just a company that 'just runs some old game, so it can fund terrible new games'.

"No one in CCP gives a **** about Fearless, it's toilet reading. "

Hey Don't make Mittani tell you again. NEVERMIND THOSE LEAKED MEMOS!

Good post indeed - I would really have liked to see THREE agenda items only, something that there could be a general consensus on from the community. If we got one of them I would be a happy bunny. CCP is going full steam ahead and there is nothing we can do to stop it. I hope we get some good news, but I doubt it - they wil not change their mind on the core issue e.g. non-vanity, disembark button and <insert your favourite issue>.
One of the articles read: "If one of the parties lose - no one wins"
We lost when the CSM opened the option for discussing MT (yeah, yeah we KNOW that PLEX is MT, but this is different) --------------------------- http://p3technocrat.blogspot.com/ |

Is this a joke? Its been confirmed for days and days that the newsletter is real. If youre a journalist, im a rocket scientist.
