I dunno, not impressed with the supposed "emergency summit" between the CSM's and CCP.
What we have learned from the CSM's is something that could have been dropped on public forums. Why all the expense for such vanilla news? Are the CSM's being straight up with us or did CCP offer them some "sweet deals" to keep their mouths shut?
The math simply isn't working out. After all this CCP expects us to just believe them and walk away?
Sorry, but before you get to bill my credit card again I'm going to need at least a seemingly sincere "My apologies," and given how poorly your company handled the situation that maybe not even be enough. I don't speak for everyone, but I will be letting my two accounts die next month unless I'm shown something otherwise.

That's your choice, you're a big boy.
You left out the part about craving attention on your way out however.

We will look at what they do and not at what they say.
For me, it's just words, they mean nothing. What I want to see from them are results, actions, reality. There is so much to be done with EVE, they can spend the next :18months: fixing/adding it. --------

But seriously, is anyone else a litle.....I dunno.....surprised at how quickly everything settled between the CSM's and CCP without REALLY getting anything meaty to chew on?

Did they set out to impress you, doubt it.
I suspect they got something after all they did go out there to work. But being paranoid about it won't stop you being paranoid.
CCP probably just expects you to be happier with the outcome of the meeting. The meeting was just as much about saving face as anything.

Pffft, go ahead and ban me. Accounts are already cancelled. So I lose a months play.... it only reinforces what I believe it going on. SOE used to do that, now look at them. If they're looking to learn from another companies history they are failing BIG TIME!

It's just CCP lapdogs trolling up the forums now. Everyone cancelling their monthly subscriptions last week are now already gone as it's a new month now. There rest gets drowned in fanboy spam. --------

I found these protests entertaining during the first week. Then they started to get old. What exactly is CCP supposed to apologize for? For cultivating the most paranoid playerbase on the planet? Sure, there is always the risk that they will implement P2W sometime in future. But as t -> infinity, we're all dead anyway.

Perhaps if you really wanted attention you'd make a reference to risking your life in the armed forces, which while commendable has no relevance to anything else in this post.
If you think straight answers to the questions asked, including public statements to include us in advance on any issues that may come up in the future that could fall into that "grey" area between vanity and non-vanity items, is "non-meaty" then you simply are complaining to try and look relevant.

Fanboy, never. Would never lower myself to such a level. Fanbois are too set in their ways, they don't see the big picture. As for monthly subs they don't run from the 1st of a month until the end of a month. They start for 30 days from the day you start.

So we now have three camps: a) Those that are happy that CCP graviously met with the CSM's.....even though there's really nothing new?
b) Those that are trying to suck up hoping that they'll get preferencial treatment(?!?)
c) And those (like me) who just want (more detailed) answers and an apology.
I'm not looking for money or skill points. I'm not looking for a new "1337" ship. Just an honest to goodness "We f***ed up! We shouldn't have done this. There is no grey area. Here's the problem, this is the solution we are working towards. Are there any questions?" OR! I'd even take "We're going to be changing this game to P2W in the future. Not right now, but sometime in the near future the game you know and love will be irrevocably changed." I can at least respect the second statement.
Their response to the CSM's that we're being fed comes off as a wishy-washy handshake. If nothing else, it just comes off weak and makes me question why the CSM's are there to begin with.

I think the big yellow question was answered. No gold ammo or anything that would give you an advantage. They also restated that NeX is vanity only. Granted, they said "We have no plans for anything other than vanity," isn't quite the same as "We will only have vanity-only," I know that companies have to say that for legal reasons. Companies sometimes change leadership, change hands, and in the corporate world you simply cannot make concrete promises like that. We can only hope that the current path and plan does not change. If it does, you all that are staying can happily have my stuff.
Now can we all calm down and get back to playing with internet spaceship? I've noticed quite a lull in traffic through my gatecamps and I've got bills to pay people!

a) The meeting was just as much about PR as what was being discussed. PR for ingame (for some it did not work you included) and PR out of game which is just as important due to the attention the crisis got.
b) No idea what you're talking about here, and even if I thought I did I'm not sure how that would work.
c) And an apology will do what exactly, other than the one we've had already in the last blog. Or will they have to keep apologising everytime they release a blog? There are some things they've not answered in absolutes, like the grey areas but that's probably the only answer you will get, they did say they would continue to work with the CSMs, So you'll just have to hope that the CSMs are on the ball.

Heya Puggy.
That would all depend on why you are occupying it I suppose.
Risking your life for what you believe is right is usually a commendable act in and of itself. Whether that belief is the correct one and worth the sacrifice is often up for debate. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

CCP owes the community something alright. CCP needs to perma ban all the sh-t stirrers and get the obviously obsessed fan bois under control. Next time there's a "protest", get their accounts rounded up and ban them all. IT'S A DAMN GAME.

Apologies for what? Releasing Incarna? Having internal debates about generating revenue?
They said in the statement and in the interview that they did a poor job of getting the message across and they also stated that there are no plans for purchasing skill points or better ships, what else do you want?
If your waiting for them to repeal incarna then don't hold your breath. It's out and they'll be adding to it soon. =============================== Two words: Internet Spaceships |

Well what you going to do? CCP's communication skills are level II or something. But they are under no obligation to give you anything, or about as much obligation as you have to stay using their product. I feel the tone, and response from the CSM has been clear, furthermore, I'd actually say from looking at the video (body language and what not) that the CSM really went in and took charge of the situation as much as they could. If you feel that the CSM got wined and dinned and went there for the lulz then that's up to you. I don't think blackmailing CCP with your threat to emo rage quit is going to amount to much.
I don't speak for everyone, but I will be letting my two accounts die next month unless I'm shown something otherwise.
you can speak for me i agree, won't be resubing on the back of this PR garbage - we might get some sort of crap Hangar back, we have no PLANS for non-vanity items, plans change, they had no plans for MT at all a year ago.
Nope, no way. if the game was $5 a month I probably wouldn't resub with the absolute cr 4 p that is CQ. Don't wanna log in don't wanna play, bye bye.

If I were CCP and read that post, know what I'd give you?
A swift kick in the ass with a frozen Icelandic boot and a hearty GTFO.
Mr Epeen
that's why you're just trolling forums *without* a CCP/GM/etc tag. you can't handle anything that conflicts with what you think.

Personally, I think we got more than I ever expected; so I do not think CCP owes us anything. Perhaps they'll draw their own conclusion, and realize that getting too disconnected from your userbase is a bad thing -- but improving on that is just something they can do for themselves internally. And, for what it's worth, I think they got the message.
As for the protesters, yup, I fired a cargohold of missiles at the Jita Memorial too -- and fiercly proud to have been a part of it. Seriously, those who now dish the protesters are rapidly forgetting that without this communities' massive outcry against P2W items, we'd probably be looking at game-breaking items ere long.
'Freedom from oppression' (even when that oppression is as small as getting an unwanted business model shoved down your throat) is generally taken for granted. Don't forget, though, that it's our continual pushing back that keeps CCP from drifting too far away from what their players want.

Actually I'd like to change my stance here...CCP owes the community something. The permanent removal of whining grunts from the forums :)

Could CCP have gotten away with less than they gave?
I don't think so. I think they did a great job of PR. They calculated exactly how little they could get away with giving (a meaningless non-apology with enough wiggle-room to drive a truck through) and then massaged negotiations so that that's how much they gave.
If I were on CSM, I'd have insisted on either permanently optional incarna or no non-vanity items other than PLEX for sale ever. Could CCP really afford to say no?
Even just a permanent commitment to not troll forums with dev alts (or hired trolls) would have been nice.
But it's cheaper to get mittens drunk and keep your original plans intact, I guess. I can't really blame them for choosing that route.

Edited by: Dallenn on 05/07/2011 11:00:47 Communication wise, I can't see how they could have performed much better. Maybe releasing info about plans earlier, but apparently full disclosure under NDA was the best mechanism this time. After all it was basically caused by leak of internal information, which wasn't closely related to anything CCP was really saying or doing.
They owe us gameplay improvements for our continued subscription, as per http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1544943&page=1#14 --

No, they do not: It's the other way around.
Look up "accountability to the customer-base" and "professional integrity" in the dictionary sometime.

i dont believe CCP deserve an apology... however what was said during the CSM meeting is enough to keep me happy for now,
leaked documents from inside ccp were bound to cause a storm and ccp didnt handle it very well.
they admitted to that so im not wrong. what happens in the future tho is anyones guess

I donÆt want an apology; I want my old EVE back. Though it's obvious neither will happen.
Maybe IÆm missing a key piece of logic in this PtW argument, but it seems to me that the only thing I canÆt get right now by flashing my credit card is SP (which I'm sure they'll never dare do after this PR disaster).
CCP artificially manipulating the PLEX market is the real elephant in the room, and clearly this new sink will only get bigger and bigger. PLEX already represents over half the ISK changing hands in the game, I call that an already broken economy.
I cancelled my two accounts today. Good luck to those who still find enjoyment in it; but this is not the game I signed up for.
