last day on account last day on Eve - but an offer to make: Eve Cloned - gain non-exclusive to Eve codebase from CCP and revive pre-Incarna Eve as seperate company. Read on...
I am an IT person w/ expertise in large networked systems and enterprise database - heart of Eve technology besides the stackless client.
I would like to make CCP an offer for a non-exclusive right to stand up an Eve Cloned MMO using their existing archived codebase and database schema up through Incursion last patch.
I know I could pick up 10,000 subscribers on week 1 and grow from there.
I would also like an option to import all of the player existing database data so everyone can start from where they were a month ago - pre Incarna.
I will setup a better team to do all game and customer support - and actually provide improved support. With a game as complex as Eve I will increase the support request petition count per player to fifty instead of two.
I will not add any new features for a long time TBD. I may remove a few things like BOTs and players that do nothing but sit in trade hubs and spam. But I would let the community vote and honor the community majority position on all controversial issues.
My team will only patch and fix all (all means ALL) the existing errors and defects in CCP cloned codebase and database server codes - no problem.
Eve Cloned will be running smoothly and will easily support the 1000+ player battles, return support for legacy PC's and new PC's (russians and others on a budget and those having overheated GPU's will be happy again).
Acceptance of my offer would make Eve Cloned experience an intense fun PVP PVE experience that everyone playing the game has come to love and enjoy.
It was disapopointing to see the unique Eve experience clobbered by the poor code of Incarna and the worse decision making of some.
So there it is - I offer a royalty payment back to CCP, keep the same game rates and ISK PLEX exchange intact.
What do you think? Join in support for the New - Eve Cloned...

Because I enjoyed playing Eve pre Incarna as did a lot of others. The alternative MMO's are...well..they are what they are.
I have one of the few thousand or so machines XP/ATI (I think its a lot higher based on forum response) that cannot even logon to Incarna due to SM3 error. If 10,000 players leave Eve - well an Eve Cloned is not really competing. In fact it is an opportunity for CCP to recoop some of the revenue via a royalty agreement.
Say a percent margin so offer CCP half of what they were getting from the unsubbing player base. Partial revenue is better than none. Plus they'd have a happy player base again as my company would pick up all the current discontents (like myself).
Seem reasonable?

Why not garner support here?
Lot of IT people play Eve.
An Eve Cloned would be yet another public-GNU type entity like Linux eh?
The subscription fee would mostly go into the server farm, infrastructure and support costs. Developers would be *mostly* unpaid volunteers doing it for the passion of the game.
Traditional companies don't seem to be able to manage large complex distributed IT systems.
A collection of passionate IT people (and artists) can generate better product than out-dated business models. My opinion...

I don't know why one would say 'nothing has changed' poste-Incarna.
How about the thousands of plays that are unable to logon now?
How about the players with high end machines crashing?
And overheated GPU's?
Is that 'nothing'?
And all of the bugs and defects resurfacing?

Edited by: Xavender on 04/07/2011 06:42:54 So you think everyone in IT has the latest machines? You obviously haven't worked in any large companies. Older machines are a way of life.
Not so...and the world economy tanked so not everyone can afford it either.
But a rich mommas boy wouldn't know that since everything is provided you including the silver spoon.
For those of us without silver spoons - well - we make do and use equipment that seems perfectly good until it is really no longer useful.
I am saying that Eve was playable on 2011-06-20 and became un-playable on 2011-06-21 with Incarna release. For many this was/is true.
An Eve Cloned based on legacy version would allow the small segment of impacted playerbase to continue to enjoy an older version of Eve.

I have this to say about that...and what kind of idiot would dump another $5 into an old machine?
And from all the forum posts a high end machine is now required to run Eve so a replacement is more like $1000 and not $30 - do the math buddy.
I was able to run four concurrent accounts on older hardware prior to Incarna. Now I cannot even logon to one account.
And from the raging forum posts - look past your navel and do some forum browsing - many people are saying the poste-Incarna release is crashing their new machines - quads with Crossfire, 8Gig ram and so on.
So I need to spend $2000 on two machines now to be able to play four accounts on Eve?
Its not in my budget and there is no point playing just one account in my opinion.
And the point is the game worked just fine prior to Incarna in terms of my enjoyment of it anyway.
But like I say - it is my last day so I may as well get something out of my account expenditure and stir the forums pot. I am sure for all those who love Incarna it will be a great experience.
