I'm considering skilling into an AF but I want to hear from the peanut gallery first as to what each one has to offer. Which assault frig is your favorite and why? What type of fit do you fly and what do,you use it for? Also, if you think that they are generally worthless I would also love to hear your reasoning behind it. Thanks in advance forumeers. |

I've been thinking of getting one of those, it looks so mean compared to my Jag.
Do you always Medium ASB tank it or do you use buffer fits at all?

I think I'd continue to use the same setup I've used since it got boosted (Cap booster + med named shield booster). Blasters put you right into the thick of things and I can't count the number of times I've been neuted completely dry.

Ed: The thing the Jag is super awesome at is the 20k EHP buffer/passive tank with small guns. Tanks almost as well as the Harpy but doesn't require cap. Normally on 5:00 -> 9-10:00 Eve (Aus TZ?) Personally, I'd ignore the armour bonus and have it as a nano tackler. Then again, with a strong armour tank, you could probably give big missile boats a really hard time too. |

The vengeance's biggest strength is the cap. With a small nos in the utility high it can hold tackle on a target while being nueted by 2x mediums. Pair that with a great tank, full tackle, and fully selectable damage and you have a winner.
The current ASB craze makes the vengeance shine a little less but It's still one of the best AF's available. |

I think the assault frigates are a very good example of a well balanced class of ships. I fly all but Amarr and I find them all usefull and competitive. My favorite is the Enyo though I own and fly all the rest depending on job/mood. |

I'm known for my fondness of the wolf, both brawler and kiting fits are just as loved.
However a sneaking love of jaguars is coming in, I'm currently rolling arty Jags in small gangs using the spare slot to test ewar configs and I have to say the flexibility of the ship is pretty nice. While no arty wolf in raw damage it's certainly able to BLAP fast tacklers tacklers out of enemy fleets while my friends deal with the big stuff.
I have healthy respect for the vengeance and harpy. Vengeance because of its constant applied dps out to a decent range while keeping an awesome tank. The harpy because again, an awesome tank coupled with face melting POWAH :)

Retribution.
Either
Boulder tanked gatling pulse with neut. Charge at them, scram them and apply your dps over 140 cubic km's of space.
Or
Heavy Slicer. Start spanking them with Scorch. Then they'll try to 'catch' you. Let them. They get so excited that they have 'caught' you, they fail to notice that half their tank is already gone. Then they discover that the Retri has Gallente level of hull hit points. |

Jaguar. I like to fly it as a "heavy interceptor" in fleet engagements. I had an engagement where I had my entire drone tab on my overview filled with warrior IIs on me and managed to hold point long enough for backup to arrive and get out at 30% structure. It was seriously like 40 drones, no joke. Course I blame the ASB for that. |

The Vengeance has a tank that is utterly insane for the ship size. Active or buffer, it's HUGE.
80% resists across the board aren't that hard to get, and if you sink some ISK into it (like I did with my old one before I sold it) you can permatank pretty much all T1 frigates and most T1 cruisers. Even T2 frigates will have a tough time murdering you (though that's not to say you're invinvible, just a tough nut to crack)
With the cap bonus you can survive several small neuts or a medium or two if you cycle your nos at the right time, making the Vengeance a perfect heavy tackle frigate. The only real downsides are low speed compared to other AFs (armour + Amarr ship) and low DPS due to the fact rockets are kinda... well yeah. It's not terrrible DPS, but it's no Wolf or Enyo.
Then again, if it had that much DPS it would be extremely overpowered imo. Love my Vengeance, and reccommend it to anyone interested in Assault Frigates :) My blog on EVE-áhttp://seraph-minayin.blogspot.com/ |

Retribution is, hands down, the best AF
why?
- Strong EHP and tank. Probably the best EHP given that it has 5 (yes 5) lo slots.
- Laser boat: If It's close range it can use conflag to DPS, if it gets tracking range disrupted it can swap to scorch and still hit 7km kiters and if it gets tracking speed disrupted it can swap to Navy MF. If its long range fit, it's always in optimal.
- Good speed. Not the fastest but its still VERY fast for an AF - plus 5 lo slots...
- Strong capacitor. Vengeance is the only one thats better
- Utility high slot
- Damage projection and range is un-paralleled.
I have seen these take down enyo's easily in close range combat and i've seen it sit at 20km+ and cut kiting frigs in half while not even breaking a sweat with a single repper. |

If lasers are all about damage projection then what do you put in that utility high? It seems to me that that slot is reserved for in your face brawler fits. |
