Been giving it some though and was curious about creating a corp with some friends.
I know I need the required skills and such, but if I create a corp and then eventually merge into another one or disband the corp at some point, will that name be permanently unavailable, or will at some point in the future will we be able to use it again?
Is someone able to explain the whole "shares" concept, I was reading and semi confused, also the person that creates the corp, can they also create the alliance as well?

-name is forever gone, if you want to keep it then have an alt hold the corp open
-shares are mostly for voting rights, like voting for a war dec or to have CEO replaced (which in the event of your unexpected absence is a good thing to have as an option for your directors) They can also be use used pay dividends but not many ppl use that feature (look up paying dividends in RL businesses)
-"Every CEO who possesses the Empire Control skill at level 5 can form an Alliance. "To make an alliance...

Ah thanks for the information!
If I create the Corp with one character, can I give the CEO to another one at a later point in time?

Also if I assign someone a specific title does that mean they get the roles that go along with it, or do I have to give them a title and give them the specific roles?

Thanks,
What programs do CEO's use to check limited API keys?
Or do they just use like EVE Mon?

Good vetting procedures are very important. As a rule of thumb, don't accept unsolicited applications.
There are a couple of very useful applications:
EveMon will give you a quick overview of the pilot and any other toons on his account. This information is visible via the Limited API.
(Shameless self plug) E-Tell will give you a quick overview of the pilots competency via killboards. You can also see how a pilot comports themselves on the forums.
If you are requesting a full api, there is Eve Asset Manager and Eve Wallet Aware pretty self explanatory what they do.
A full check will take a considerable amount of time. Decent thieves roll new toons which don't interact with their mains in any way shape or form.
Hope this helps. Signature removed for not being EVE related. Zymurgist |

Yes, you can make someone else CEO later if they have the necessary skills and you step down, or anyone if no one in corp has the necessary skills
Never give anyone shares unless you really know what your're doing
NEVER EVER hand out roles and rights manually, only use titles with roles and rights.
I personally use EVEMon as it's easy, lightweight, fast, and works well if you keep the number of accounts in it low. There are other programs like EVEHQ that can also do it.

Thanks for all the information everyone.
I was just curious what was used, like when I applied for a CORP I had to give them my limited API so I was curious what program they were using to see my skills and such.
I am setting up the title roles and all that now, there are just so many options and things to change.

If you're not sure what you're doing use an alt and try out if the titles allow you to do thinks like access corp of forbidden hangars (and do POS stuff).

Nah I think I have got the hang of it now, just a lot of set up to get it all ready to go.
And I wasn't sure what to use to check people's API's when they were applying - the limited ones of course.

What is classified as Container and Hanger (Other) ?
I get the HQ access and the "Based at" access, but what is "other"?
Would that be like POS hangers and such?

"Other" applies to any location that is not the corp HQ or where the character is "Based at". So any other corp office or POS.

Another question:
I set up my corporation titles rather than using and assigning roles.
I set up a Director of Operations title, which should do everything the "director" role does.
I assigned it to my alt, but for some reason the alt cannot assign titles. Is this working as intended?
The alt can assign roles (which I dont want to use) but not titles?

Originally by: Louis deGuerre Yes, you can make someone else CEO later if they have the necessary skills and you step down, or anyone if no one in corp has the necessary skills
To be clear, there is only one skill that is required: Corporation Management I. Anyone with that skill can take over any corp. The corp will retain the limitations of the last CEO to update the corp. Therefore, there is little reason to train higher level skills on an alt CEO.
Originally by: Nice Rocks The alt can assign roles (which I dont want to use) but not titles?
Double check that the titles do not contain the director role. From what I remember, only the CEO can assign the director role. Otherwise, I have not experiemented much with titles.

TBH, if that title is just to give them the "Director" role, it's a lot easier to give the alt "Director" and be done with it.
You can give whatever other titles you want as well -- e.g. "director of dumbass chuck norris jokes" from the first tab when you're editing a corp member...
