VOTF and Shinra - The Perfect Enemies
Why do VOTF and Shinra make such good enemies? Why is there so much animosity and tension between these two corporations?
It is very simple. Shinra and VOTF have too much in common. They are a clasic example of " this town ain't big enough for the both of us. " Below is a short analysis of why this is true.
Both of these corporations are the pinnicle of a group of " rough around the edges " players. From the top to the bottem these two corps are a conglomeration of ex- pirates, thieves, spies, and grifers.
The only difference between thse two player bases is Votf is primarily American, and Shinra is primarily Euro.
Leadership - The comparison begins with Lallante and Aneu angelus. Two of the most outspoken forum *****s in the game. Both are fearcly loyal to there respective corps and leave nothing but deception and flames in thier wake.
Next is Chowdown. He is a little harder to pin with a parallel in VOTF. Untill you combine the traits of ED and Xirtam together. The end result of this colaboration is a calmer more rational approuch to decision making mixed with a hint of aggresion. Much like chowdown's own approuch to Eve.
Fleet Command - While some of the finest fleet commanders from the X-ca play for these two corps the similarities skew here.
Xirtam - Xirtamvotf is one of the oldest fleet commanders in game. He has a lot of trouble adapting to new tactics and technology. However in a straight up slugfest there is no one in game that can inspire his men to hold the line like xirt. For all his faults, right now Eve favors his fleet tactics.
Chowdown - Like xirt chowdown is a very old hand at fleet operations. Chow can take a force into situations most fleet commanders would not dare to. He can adapt to situations faster then xirt can which allows him to mobilize his man faster. Cool and calm chow is the exact opposite of xirtam.
Eternal Dark - ED has been aroround for a long time. He is quick on his feet and will gladly stare down the largest of enemy fleets. However his greatest strength is also his weakness. His tactics relly on speed and shock heavily, and while very effective against the forces of norad, jqa and xetic. He will have to adjust his tactics to be successfull against the forces of BoB. Burdened with large fleets ED will take a slow giant and make it fast enough to be deadly.
Lallante - A better commander then any of the third teir commanders of VOTF since Redon and Sapage1 have gone MIA.
Taking his time Lallante can usually get the job done when chow isn't up for it. His greatest weakness is his pride which limits the situations he is willing to take on. However given the right circumstances he will get the job done for shinra.
I can not tell you who would win if these two corps were thrown into a frey, but I can gurentee it will be a fight for blood, pride, and payback. They both blame each other for the breakup of CA, they are both partially at fault. Perhaps one day when they have killed enough of each other they can come to a mutual understanding. That they are each others perfect adversary.

It is most likely that he is a member of a corp which is friendly to both parties, of which there are a couple of Xca corps.

ah ok, would be excelent to see a VOTF vs Shinra war, 2 of the best PvP corps in the CA vs SE war going at it, the possibilities are amusing, maybe i will catch a few showings in a month or so when i can get back in eve..... for now i shall have to stay firmly wedged in the forums

We have a big problem here..
Everyone seems to see this as a VOTF vs. Shinra problem.. which in almost all respects it is, except for one.. VOTF is one of the power banks in the Imperium Alliance. If Shinra and VOTF go at it, it will drag in the rest of the imperium into the conflict.
That being said I personally do not want to fight shinra.. Not out of fear but for the same reason I don't want to goto my friends house blow up his car and and put a bullet into his head.
This extends further.. obviously shinra is going to have problems extending itself against the entire Imperium, and is going to need help.. Help from freinds that our friends supremecy are not fond of. Though shinra and supremecy are friends, and have publicly stated that they will not enter the conflict between us (rightfully so), it is going to be very hard for them to stay out of the conflict if BoB and or MASS decide to join the fray.
This extends much farther then the "who broked teh CA" fued.
All this said, The Fountain Allaince is going to be a footnote in the battle for the Fountain Region.

When fighting VOTF, shoot Xirtam first, because he's then bound to have a stroke.
