Yes, the little goonie sycophant horde started dancing like ewoks when IT split up and wasted no time screaming "WE KILLED IT!" in every forum across the land.
Mittani, fancying himself as the modern incarnation of Sun Tzu, wrote a blog-novella entitled "The Art of Nullsec War". In it, he actually tried to assert that the stations the NC (it wasn't just goons in PNQY, folks) took in Fountain and the battles they won against the Fountain Coalition (Black Star, Blade, HUN, and Talos) were the keys to destroying IT.
The truth is that IT disbanded from within. Leaders unable/unwilling to agree decided to part ways and it was over. The forum leaks that goon spies published everywhere (replete with masturbatory annotations from goons) clearly showed this to be the case.
The Battle of 6VDT didn't break IT Alliance. One of the largest corporations in the alliance chose to leave before a single system in Fountain even fell. If any credit is due to the NC at all here, it is merely a slight acceleration to what was already going to happen as soon as any threat large enough to warrant capital ship deployment showed up at the borders.
Now those same corporations are still out there with the same goals. Unshackled from the old bureaucracy, they are pursuing those goals and the North is burning.
Is anyone actually surprised by this?
The Goons always cried into their cheerios that the IT Alliance was a great evil which represented a type of hegemony that would kill 0.0 forever. The fact that they did this while helping to build the largest NAP Powerbloc in the history of Eve Online is testament to their belief in transparent propaganda.
When the DRF was at the doorstep of Geminate and it was clear that they were coordinating with the Former IT Corps, Evoke, and PL, the same cry went up: It'll ruin the game if they win!
Again, is anyone surprised by this?
I have no idea what most of this means but I can see the tears streaming down your cheeks and it's beautiful
