I must be missing some great dev joke here..
Two lvl4 Merc Assasination in a row as the "storyline" mission. Both in some 10-12 jumps distance.
Anyone have a clue what the devs had in mind when they decided to call these "story"line or "storyline" missions?

hmm, i had 1 "storyline mission" that actually did have quite a huge story with it.
The one where you have to kill a High Priest type person, named Karmone Tezmir or something along those lines, along with his order. There was actually a story attached to the mission which explained the why etc. It was nice .
It was also the only storyline mission ive had so far that had an actual story in it :P. More of those would be cool (someone will have to get on the krackpipe and dream up some stories tho )

I did a "storyline" 3rd level mission today called "Fight for the Establishment". Ordinary space, not deadspace. About 3 caracals and and about 8 merlins all in a single group.
The story was a gigantic paragraph of the the most turgid space goobledy**** you ever saw. Had nothing to do with the mission (I think). You ever read one of the books in Baldur's Gate? It was like that. You'd have more fun reading the Silmarillion.

I brought tthis up numerous times.Storyline missions have to take place within 5 jumps of where you are,and follow a storyline of 5 missions with a huge payoff at the end.

I just think of them as stories with one chapter.

Oddly enough, i run missions for Kaalakiota and the last two important missions i got were from the Poksu storyline agent, instead of Kaalakiota.
And yes i filed a bugreport, because i never ever ran missions for Poksu.

Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking there. I got this mission a long while ago (pre-exodus), and I remember copying the story and pasting to a .txt file for later reading.
I never read it.

Edited by: MinorFreak on 24/02/2005 12:54:43 and that makes sense because...? It's ridiculous one would assume they haven't got something planned soonÖ to replace the disjointed post-tutorial storyline mission snippets. still doesn't instill it with any "sense" though. ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

Point is, I find it hard to believe that it would be so hard to create the "story" into the ex-important missions. Currently, I've heard (and only heard, as I've only gotten exceedingly boring "kill a spawn"-"story"line missions), there are some missions with some extra text in the misisons description. This does not yet, for me, count as a "story". Iirc, CCP said something along the lines of "introducing story*lines*" - nowhere to be seen so far.
Currently the rewards are crap, unless you get lucky and get an implant - and the rate as far as I can see is worse than with the old Important missions. With old Important Missions your agent standing and thus your skills also played a part, which they now don't.
This is also curious, because I recall some Dev also mentioning that in their opinion +3 implants should fall into the 20 million isk price category. Currently the prices are three, four, even five times that, just because of the rate of "story"line missions and rarity of the implant rewards.

Its hard because they dont have the manpower. They are going nust with, say, ecm changes which IMHO should be low piriority compared to say, racial ship balancing, etc.
And yea it makes no sense you get storylines for corps you never work for,but im guessing they just picked one corp at random and used it for storylining.Easier for them that way.
