Is it time for CCP to bring out the Jovians? Most players are clamoring for more spaceship content as it is... adding Jovians as a whole new faction including ships, systems, missions and everything that goes with a faction may be a great way to win back the confidence of their customers.
Personally the addition of the Jovians would be one of the most exciting things to happen to EVE during my time playing, adding more variety and challenges, and giving even the vets new training goals and game experience.

Jovian technology is more advanced than the other races, and therefore cannot be released into the game for players.
Jovians are there for CCP to play with, not us.

Jove ships would be so OP so that wouldn't be a good idea. But I do like the idea of maybe a minor race that could maybe spawn. --------------------------- We live to die another day. |

No, they're interesting because they are mysterious. If they suddenly become common they stop being mysterious.

How about a Jovian split? Dark Jovians. Have Light Jovian offer public quest mission to go after Dark Jovians. So twenty players have to go off an scan the ship down, jam it, and then dissemmble it :)

It would be fine, the only evidence we have of them being OP is them Curb Stomping an Amarr Fleet a long time ago. That can easily be explained away.
* Jove are technically stagnant and did not improve there Tech while Amarr did. * The battle was overstated and the failure was do to poor fleet command and bad fits. * Scorch, Aurora. Rigs and T2 Ships and Modules that have since come after have increased Amarrs ability in Combat as well as the other races. * Amarr as an Empire in the Lore have the most ships of any race but many are old and falling apart. * Capsuleers have also beetin Fleets 2-4 times there size with good tactics, there not OP just good.
Just cause in some battle that happened a while back a big fleet of morons in old decreped ships that had no rigs and never heard of Tech 2 Anything got there ass kicked by a fleet of Ships that were probably Capsuleer Ships since Jove had Capsules back then, doesn't mean they are gonna be super OP or are not ready for Introduction.

Except for of course the many incidents in the past where CCP have jumped in normal fit Jove ships on TQ (note, I said normal fit so think T2, not Officer/GM mod lolfits) for events and required *dozens* of pilots to blow up lowly Jove Frigates.
Jove should never just be released wholesale if at all. If they are, players have got to be made to work for it, probably via quest and though the story that Abraxis is weaving into the game. --------------------------------- Go Web! Go! |

Anyship a Dev is gonna jump into is gonna be overpowered. Have you seen there Reverants, 8 Highs, 8 Mids 8 Lows, thats not normal. They bbost the Stats for there Events, nothing to do with OPness of the class.
Specter Wraith Phantom Eidolon Visitant
Not so overpowered... anything that has to many slots and such could be made the stats of the Navy Ships and be released as civilian models.

I remember the Jovians having tech level 5 stuff, I remember a requirement of 5 in all frigate skills as a pre-req for flying a Jove frigate for example.
I also remember a certain TL5 mining laser incident, ended up with exchanging the TL5 laser for a TL2 blueprint I think.
So I think we wont be seeing the Jove anytime soon, at least not before Tech 3 and then Tech 4. Might Have to fight the Jove for the TL5 stuff in the future lol.

The T5 Laser was not that hot, it mined less then a Strip Miner and was created by someone in the Art Department origionally as a gift to frient(back when CCP played fast and loose). It wasn't even a official module and was taken away.
I don't think it should be a major concern for denying a race from being added.

Ya because everything is set in stone and CCP can't rebalance jove if they wanted to.
Laser turrets have recoil and that doesn't go with the story at all.

Yeah, great idea. That'll be 24,000 AUR to play Jove.
I'd prefer Ammatar as a forth bloodline to Amarr and then add some newly created bloodlines to the other three races.
OR
Even better. Allow players to create their own planetary sub-branches of the bloodlines with a home planet and everything and have it tie into DUST somehow.

They're also assuming that datamined NPC stats reflect what the player-available ships would be.

It would make sense to introduce jove ships once the remainder of the T3 class of ships and weapons are introduced, that way we can directly compare the sleeper technology discovered in sleeper space to the jove technology and see who owns who...
Alternatively, jove tech could become the Tech 4 class for both ships and fittings and in order to keep the numbers low in game, be so umbelievably hard to train up that it makes maxing out a titan race look easy by comparison....It's easy to make money in EVE, but tell someone they need to train for over a year to be able to fly a jove ship, and many won't have the patience or determination for it.
Tech 5 would be reserved for the eventual encounter with the original humans once the eve gate opens again, as they'd be even more advanced than the jove themselves....

I say, 1 / 1,000,000 (millionth) wormhole leads to jovian space, and their ships drop jovian tech, or something like that.
I doubt that CCP will ever release their ships to the public. They're somewhat too powerful compared to the current ships.

I doubt that, as wormholes leading to the same place is very unlikely, but its a nice idea.
If i remember the original intro correctly... "Thousands of years ago, there was a wormhole leading to new eden. That wormhole collapsed. Civilizations tried to adapt on new planets splitting themselves in 4 races, forcing themselves to restart all knowledge. Again we entered space... Now, 5A93 years later. A wormhole back has opened. "Humans" invading their once occupied space, our genetic ancestors. Their technology, much superior than ours... [insert rest of dramatic battle monolog here]"
They SHOULD extend the original introduction video if they do this.
Also, They did it with sansha, why not jove?

Assuming jove have any sort of use for something as primitive as money....
Their primary concern is rebuilding their society after the ravages provoked by the dreaded jovian disease wich killed an a huge amount of them and to be honest, it's always made me wonder why the jove give any of their technology away at all, unless their motives are to ultimately use POD pilots to re- populate their species....They were human at one point afterall, before all the messing around with their DNA.

The jove also came thru that wormhole and their ancestors are human, with the main difference why they are so advanced compared to the other 4 races being that the colonies they operated at the time already self suficient when the eve gate finally closed, so advancements in society and overall technology didn't suffer nearly as much because of that.

CCP should fix gallente ships, hybrid turrets, some caldari ships, super cap issues, macro mining, and known bugs, before adding any new content. If the next expansion did nothing more than balanced and fixed this game up. I am certain there would be as much praise as we are seeing hate presently.

The reason why Jove is so advanced is because they had no war and thus technology developed faster. Its known that culture and proper technology slows down during war (hence no new hit songs were released during WW2), most people were shipped off to blow some brains out.
Jove is CCPs property. Everything done by CCP is done in Jove space. Mostly everything CCP pilots is Jove. Jove is CCP. The whole point of Jove is to slap "CCP" on the face of EVE.

If their soecity sucks as much as you say... Money could be useful to them. Everybody loves money.
Nd also you said that there is no good reason for them releasing their tech. Maybe this is another mysterious scheme like the capsules many years b4. Whatever.
Makes more sense than releasing a bunch of tech 5 overpowered pwn-mobiles that maybe three players can get.. like the rest are suggesting.
And the other stuff about eve gates and original humans... right.

Well, in my case i'll have all 4 racial dreads maxed out, all 4 carriers and all 4 titans maxed out by april~may of next year, and since i focus on ship skills pretty much exclusively and i am not interested in other fields, this becomes somewhat of a problem here...

I should've said WW1, my bad. The only reason that technology was produced in WW2 was because the germans did so too (or people were fed up by being under marshal law)
But in repeated wars, technology has no delay, but a random war when someone is uprising, well ouch.

We still have a lot of missing information regarding the sleepers and the jove before coming to any sort of final conclusion, except their far older than the main 4 aliances and have much more powerfull ships available.....It's aa shame that at least the jove storyline hasn't evolved at all in the 8 years the game has been running now...
