Let take these two for making an example.
Northern Coalition. <NC>
- Is called NC DOT
Raiden. <-RDN->
- Is called Raiden DOT
Neither of them have a dot in the ticker. And as made obvious above, NC get <ticker> + DOT (even without the DOT in the ticker) and Raiden get <alliance> + DOT.
Why is it so random?
One is refered by the ticker and the other is refered to the alliance name.

The thing that gets me is Raiden (sans dot) was available before Raiden. took the name, but they didn't use it in lieu of one with the period.
Are periods important? Do they help in some way when one wishes to be some screeching harpy of death?

All my evidence is circumstancial at best but this is what I figure:
When NC. was formed instead of the obvious choice of giving it a 1337 name like Band of Brothers or The Untouchables or summat they must of thought that it would be leeter to take a completely ****ty (peeveepee wise) name like NC and make it a top brand name. The dot was there mainly because game mechanics dont allow two of the same.
Imagine if BoB in 2005 decided to name their alliance PA. for example (nice l0lz opportunity lost there tbhqh)...
There I am a victim to the troll but might have helped somebody (fat chance tbh).
PS No idea about Raiden...
Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |
