Why the sudden hate on GMT?
CCP always used to quote times according to the prime meridian, or Greenwich Mean Time, but now all of a sudden this UTC nonsence is creeping in?
Stop pandering to americans already.

It's the same as GMT....and Americans can't get their own timezones straight. GMT vs UTC.--doesn't matter.
However, I DO find it entertainingly stupid that Non-US citizens always have to read evry change as something for the "Americans".

Thanks but its a french thing not american. Thanks for the Credit tho. We will happily take credit for creating the French TAI which is what UTC is based off. ------------------ Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum. Doing so will result in the release of Aur to purchase p2w devices. That is all! |

It's funny that you immediately revert to saying 'stupid Americans' when this stupid american knew that UTC was the same as GMT right off the bat.

I find it amusing that you count "evry"one else in because one guy doesn't know.

I was commenting on the fact that the OP felt the need to blame "Americans" for a cosmetic change, not the fact that they didn't know the URC vs. GMT thing.
I suppose I should apologize for mistyping a single word and bringing out the "evry" spelling POH-LEECE. <sheesh>

UTC makes them sound all cool with people who think UTC is somehow better than GMT when the two are exactly the same.

Actually they are not exactly the same.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time: "UTC is closely related to Universal Time and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and within informal or casual contexts where sub-second precision is not required, it can be used interchangeably." ... Since the difference between UTC and UT1 is not allowed to exceed 0.9 seconds, if high precision is not required, the general term Universal Time (UT) may be used. In casual use, when fractions of a second are not important, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) can be considered equivalent to UTC or UT1. Saying "GMT" often implies either UTC or UT1 when used within informal or casual contexts. In technical contexts, usage of "GMT" is avoided; the unambiguous terminology "UTC" or "UT1" is preferred."

because Coordinated universal time (UTC) is what tech runs on, not GMT your computers, phones and most of the tech in the world syncs to UTC and the atomic clocks that regulate it.
however unless you are counting fractions of seconds its pretty much identical to GMT. ------------------------------------------------ There is a theory which states that if anyone discovers just exactly what the universe is for and why we are here, that it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. Then there is a theory which states that this has already happened. á á -Douglas Adams

Yes, the world is not ready for male anatomy... please refrain from reminding us that half the world have unmentionable genitals... it is disturbing. Boobs anyone? Big floppy fake b**bs? - see that isn't censored... it's a kinder, gentler world w/o male maypoles! Signature removed for not being EVE related. Zymurgist |
