Gang,
Short story: Our CEO did something dumb and got himself banned. Probably won't be coming back.
Unfortunately, none of us are directors and we never did the stock thing. There's no way for us to "call a vote" and get someone else in as CEO to keep the corp going. Are we just hosed or will a petition get us somewhere?
Thanks in advance! |

If he's been banned then I would be surprised if a petition didn't work.
If it doesn't work, you can always make a new corp.

typically in RL it would fall to the second most senior executive in the corporation.
CCP never thought of the eventuality that a CEO might leave, get banned or die? I'm pretty sure you can petition it (or at least perhaps the 2nd oldest member could)
although knowing CCP it may take a considerable amount of investigation and time to get any sort of resolution as the scam factor of such a request is pretty high

Yea, I know we can make a new one but we kinda like the one we have. I can't believe we're the first corp who's run into this problem.
His character hasn't been deleted. We still see him as CEO but obviously he can't log in.

making a new corp would mean they lose out on the frozen assist's of their current one.
to thread starter, petition it, explain to the dev's you and your corp's situation. and if it works, guess who just became new CEO....You pal! lol _____________________________________ MM Inc. "We Make It, It does NOT make Us!" |

Yea, probably me and I don't even want to be the CEO. I was just wondering if anyone else had any direct experience with this and thought it might work.
Thanks!

CCP won't do anything until the ban expires. If its a permaban then you will have no problems at all with getting control of corp.
If its a temp ban and the guy isn't coming back then you will have a long wait - 3 months+ unless he co-operates.

It's happened before, just petition CCP and they'll make someone the new CEO.

I think you need to wait a certain time of ceo awol ( 30 days ? ) and then you can petition the situation.
iirc you will be contacted then and a new ceo will be assigned as per agreed upon.
Been a loooong time ago though so this might not be accurate.

You should file a petition. Customer Support is used to dealing with situations such as this one and they will help you reach the best solution possible.

Well, thats REALLY interesting since i've been told the exact opposite several times by CCP customer support. I've tried petitioning the exact same situation, and got a loud "NO" from a Senior GM
Im really curious about how this plays out for your corp.

There's your answer. Working as intended.
Also, to the OP, if your CEO is banned and he has less than 50% of the shares you would be able to vote him out. Sounds like you had a fail CEO anyway, but IMHO only a fail CEO would put mechanics in place that allow him to be voted out. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Every customer service situation is different. I've worked closely with Customer Service Management for over 7 years and I can tell you that solutions to customer service problems will typically be different, even in situations where both customers are exhibiting the same issue.
tl;dr - Just becasue they said no to you does not mean they will say no to OP - it all depends on the details.

The thing is the CEO might get unbanned. The corp belongs to him, will he then file another petition to CCP to get it back with all its assets, current and/or new assets?
We had a similar situation years back our CEO just left EVE for a very long period, but we had shares and directors...
Maybe a compromise could be made that the current assets are all transfered to the CEO character, and one of you gets to become the new CEO, but I think that would be quite some work for the GMs. Although consireding the rarity of such situations this could be executed for sake of customer satisfaction.

Definitely a fail CEO, everyone knows that you let one of the tools do the actual EULA violations! Pfft.
Make sure your petition goes in the right drawer as GMs probably can't/won't help you .. you need CS directly.

I've had an experience that is close, but not a direct comparison.
CEO left Eve (not banned), and there was nothing that could be done. The difference is that he could come back at any point, whereas a banned player won't be. So its definately worth a petition. ______ Tippia's analysis of NEX/Incarna |

My old CEO got himself permabanned, and I had no problem getting the CEO position when petitioning. I had to emphasize that he was _permanently_ banned, though.

l2r "best solution possible" does not make any predictions as to the outcome of the case.
the "best solution possible" might very well be "NO" if any "better" solution is impossible due to guidelines the customer support has to base its decisions upon.

The best solution possible isn't always the one one prefers. Id like to state that I don't know anything about this case and really can't get involved in it specifically, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that customer support has procedures and protocols to deal with situations like this one. Sometimes they can take action quickly, but sometimes they have to wait for other developments to pan out. It's wise to tread carefully when handing over full control of a corporation and there are many possible variants to a situation like this one that are obviously sometimes hard to discuss openly.
I wish you the best of luck with this and hope things get sorted out to everyone's satisfaction.

Hey gang,
Thanks for all the valuable input. We're going to sit tight until we know whether or not this is a temporary or permanent ban. His characters are still there, he just can't log into them. Doesn't that mean it's temporary? I was under the impression that a permaban was "your characters are deleted."
Anyway, if it does turn out to be permanent we'll do the whole petition thing to get a new CEO in.
Thanks again!

In one of the anti-bot threads CCP Sreegs said CCP never deletes accounts, even with perma-bans.
Have you done the petition? If its temporary, Support will know its temporary and their actions will reflect that.

We're going to give it a few more days before we petition. Our CEO is still trying to smooth things over with CCP. Seems unlikely but we're going to wait a bit.
Thanks!

Edited by: Phedre De''Launey on 17/07/2011 03:30:31 Good luck! My last Corp. had a somewhat similar issue. (No Directors, no significant stock, etc).
The CEO died. There was RL documentation, but the petition was met with 'nothing can be done'.
We lost quite a few BPO's and other things.
Best of luck in getting a better answer to your situation.

Exact same thing happened to me. Honestly CCP's unwillingness to do anything is full of **** - this cripples corporations and causes people to lose wealth, gameplay and friends, due to factors outside of the game that cannot be helped, since I bet the guy would much rather prefer not getting killed.

If anyone has access to the corp wallet, make sure there are no shares in it. If there are someone steal them :), then petition.
I wish you luck.
I know if there was a director it is possible, though I think the ceo has to be gone a certain amount of time.
