is having a second destroyer a good idea? one that can fit some medium guns and hit battleships instead of frigates. and not like the regular destroyers where you can fit 7, i mean having about 4 only and can hit bigger targets better than smaller ones.
ie: 4 high slots (missiles for caldari, turrets for everyone else) 1-3 med slots (3 for minmatar, caldari. 1 for others) 1-3 low slots (3 for gallente, amarr. 1 for others) 3 rig slots
85 powergrid 75 cpu 350 calibration
destroyer level bonus: -80% to -90% in medium turret/heavy assault luancher powergrid use -10% to 30% turret cpu use/ -40% to 60% missile cpu use
frigate level bonus: 5% increased max velocity per level 5% damage to med turrets/heavy assault missiles per level
role bonus: -40% turret tracking/missile explosion velocity & explosion radius
i'm just thinking out loud, i know im going to get trolled for this post.

it's also called tech 1 cruiser, only with minimal price increase of few million isk, but i think you can manage.

i was suggesting this because it'd have a smaller sig radius so it's harder to hit than a cruiser.

First they need to fix the first line of destroyers before adding a second. That entails finding a better role for them then their current one. Secondly, - four bonuses and a role bonus?!? I mean, really!?!

I think a Tech 1 Small ship with loaded with a large weapon slot or 2 - the fragile artillery ship
Slow, Weak, Long Range, Poor tracking, large Punch vs Larger targets. Useless vs small targets Direct fire but weaker than the bomber.
Destroyer frame would work well for this sorta following the idea the terroriest with the rocket launcher.

In my eyes you have a few options with destroyers- Reduce their sig radius, trade firepower and highslots for more tanking and mid/low slots, increase their fitting grid, give them a unique function, or some combination of above.
Personally, I'd love to see ships able to fit the tank of a cruiser and specialize in small weapons.

the cpu/power reduction bonuses are so you can fit it, if you do the math you can't fit 4 turrets/launchers without having destroyers 5. unless you have extremely high weapons upgrade skills.
and it's not 4 bonuses and a role bonus. 2 of them are so you can fit it, like a sb's cloak cpu reduction. the other 2 are bonuses, and the role bonus makes it so you have a harder time hitting frigates with stat reduction.
