In this interview CCP Soundwave says that Dust Mercs will 'no longer be mercs, just soldiers in your corporation'.
Sounds disappointingly fluffy. It also makes me wonder to what extent DUST members in our corporations will become essentially mandatory in order to compete strategically in EVE.
What gives CCP? I sense another duff "micro transactions ftw" idea inbound

You took the context right out of that quote.
He was saying that in this particular instance, when you recruit them into your own corporation, they are no longer mercs as they work directly with you.
He was not saying there would be no DUST mercs at all, that is pure speculation on your own part and it goes against basically everything they have told us so far about the game. You then tac on the micro transaction nonsense at the end... what does that even have to do with anything?
Ya know I understand CCP has some serious issues with communication, but it doesn't help when you guys stick toilet paper in your ears and start screaming doom at the top of your lungs.
I'm not screaming; but I would like to hear from CCP how we might expect the DUST <> EVE link to work.

The great man, John Turbefield, should never be made redundant - there would be rioting in the streets!
