HI All,
I'm sure there is a contingent here that will read the title wade in here and say long live the griefing die everyone bla bla but, if you read passes the title and have a objective opinion I'd like to hear it.
So, in the time I have been playing eve it seem that everyone based in null sec is tired and board of it and has chosen either to leave null sec and start griefing in high sec or at has very least created an alt to do so,
I have become aware of the long time players that were capable and able to run S2M alliances are leaving the game in droves, sighting a loss of interest because, the game now seems be getting dumbed down. Its easy to be a griefing log-on wardec at random try to kill something. No challenge there then. Try a t2 t3 production chain!!
My worry is if we don't keep the sorts of player interested that will run small to medium industrial alliances a gap will just open up, new players wont have the corporations and alliances to join that will allow them to grow so, they will just give up.
Eve is and has always been a war game, so let the industrial corporations play market PVP! Allow us to set standings against our orders not blue you can't buy from us! or at least if you don't have the standings its twice the price! You allow the null sec players with outpost to charge for docking, you allow anyone to war dec us in rolling chains for months for no better reason that to see eve burn.
Come on CCP level the playing field and at least let us play the game!!!

I'm going to have to take a few liberties here nocSTANtine because you glossed over about half a dozen separate topics your post. Assuming your time playing EVE (from mid-to-late 2009) has included time in nullsec I will assume at this point the people you know that were "tired and bored of it" got beaten at sovereignty warfare by one of the game's power blocs. Which leads straight into your next paragraph. If people who are capable of running small-to-medium alliances are "leaving the game in droves" as you say, what is the reason for this? Again, due to the lack of details on your part I will assume it is because their alliances failscaded in 0.0 due to a campaign loss.
Now this has absolutely nothing to do with war decs, griefing or market PVP which is a separate issue entirely. I will again take a liberty here and assume these things are mentioned because the people that didn't "leave the game in droves" wanted to try doing something else in EVE after getting beaten in nullsec.
I think it's time you took a step back to realize a lot of how this game operates is because of the player base taking advantage of the liberties given to it by CCP insofar as the scope of the sandbox. In fact this single sticking point is what defines a lot of player's experience with this game. Griefing, not engaging in any fight unless having a direct advantage over the opponent, spying, thieving, backstabbing. All things that can and will virtually occur in the day to day life of thousands of EVE players.
In conclusion, anything else you have to say on the subject is automatically you being asspained due to something bad happening to you in game. My best advice is to suck it up and try a different tactic, or take a break and calm down. As for your suggestions for game changes, after thinking through all the possibilities and ramifications of said changes, you should take your ideas to the appropriate forum and see how well it is received by the community. Thanks for reading.

posting with an alt, guess I'm a little paranoid these day, on the few time I have discussed this at length all I got was tl:dr, not suggesting I have all the answers just wanted to start a discussion. I take on board your point and funnily enough I'm just back from a break from eve so, I'm acutely aware of how much the game has changed. I guess I though "general" would likely be the best place my general experiences of the game. Was hoping for an open discussion.
You didn't mention which area of the game you play in so it hard to understand exactly where you s coming from with some of your points.

Is it just me, or have there been an awful lot of these threads lately, more so than usual?
Did someone with a lot of pent-up rage and more than a few alts lose an officer-fit Macharial or something?

I guess I have done just about everything but I believe the "meat and potatoes" of the EVE gameplay experience to be in sovereignty warfare and the fight to control, maintain and operate space. It's simply both the most rewarding and the most emotive aspect of the sandbox. That said, of course it's not for everyone and it's actually not possible for everyone to participate in that part of the game.
"Fun" is not a design principle of the people that created the game we play. That is not to automatically say that's a bad thing, or that the game is in fact "not fun". However, this game is draining due to it's complexity. It's draining mentally, and it's draining emotionally not so much for it's complexity, but due to the scope of the sandbox and how so much of it relies on the players themselves to work. These are the key things that I believe lead to quite a lot of people as you say, "leaving in droves". These are also things that will never change. So taking a break is a good thing to do, and I personally do not have a problem with how the game is played. It is what it is. People are how they are and they don't change. They approach this game a certain way. They have to, because if they don't, the game becomes increasingly difficult to play. Everyone wants the game to be easier for them personally, and some will go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that this is case for them. You want an open discussion so I won't say anymore in this post. Thanks for reading.

It's ALL about the ROLLING War Decs.
I suggest 30 days between War Dec initiations towards any one Corp.
But the regular Griefing has gotten pretty bad indeed. MUCH different when I started my main 18 months ago.
We've lost 2 noobs this week under non-War conditions just because they couldn't get a thing done on their own. I felt sorry for them really.
I do believe the recent vacating of 0.0 towards High is indeed killing the new subscription base THIS time around in particular.

Not trying to be mean, but I think the real answer to the war dec/griefer problem that is being touted in your post is that last line I quoted above.

Anyway, do we really need too many this sort of carebears consuming the server resource? There are billions people in the world and the server may just able to afford 150k maybe. Just let's having more interactive players, and left those playing stand-alone game get ****ed off.

Who knows if it's gameplay CCP supports. But if they renamed them "Jita camping license" it would be closer to the truth.

If you have a problem with wardecs in HighSec, I got a real *pro* tip for you, and itŠs simple, at least in theory.
I know, this is not doable for everyone, but some can do, and it works!
The soloution to WarDecs is: Keep yer mouth shut! That simple, it is.
Proof it works:
I did start somewhere, as everyone did, if you fall for the daily troll in mission hubs, and canŠt keep your mouth shut, you will be wardec every other week, at least, thats how it was for me and my corp, and we were only 3 people in there.
Since my main is in 0.0 all time, and my alts in my alt corp managed to train silence to IV, there has not been a single WarDec since.
Or other way said: Where do you thing the "bad griefers" get their targets from? DonŠt make yourself a target and you wonŠt be WarDecced.
Oh, and before I forget, just a personal response to the OP: Trooooooolllll!!!!111

Edited by: K''iran on 21/07/2011 05:50:50 EVE is a competitive game where one has to put in effort to survive, make a profit and do well. Be it in normal PVP or market PVP and it's a mix of both industrialism and combat oriented stuff throughout the whole game, high sec isn't somehow exempt from this. You have to put in effort to find the best locations, to figure out the best&cheapest way to produce, haul and market your goods. So why do people draw the line there somehow and totally "forget" about securing their assets?
In EVE you have to be prepared to not get killed and to make sure you do well, why should this be any different in high sec? Why should a group of players/alts who solely focus on making isk without any thought for protection or even the most basic understanding of warfare do well in a competitive game like EVE?
It's not very difficult to avoid becoming a target either, even as an indie corp;
- don't have an obvious stupid corp name/info that shouts "we are bearz!" (similarly, don't overdo the "rawr, we eat babies" because someone might just call your bluff) - don't smack in local, don't bark more than you can bite - don't invite people without a proper background check - have some discussion and training to be able to fly some basic deterrence fits; PVP fit drakes and Blackbirds (not exactly difficult to train for carebears) - put some thought into what you're doing
tl;dr, why should we care for people who obviously didn't care much for their own safety/security (given their lack of effort in that area)?
