What size groups/fleet/gang sizes bother to bring anti-frig, and what ships are best employed this way?
The obvious answer of destroyer class ships seems bad because of range disparity. If the destroyer is in range to shoot at the enemy frigates affecting their allied larger ships, then the destroyer is in turn in range of the larger weapons of the enemy ships. It would also be in range of those larger enemy weapons long before the frigates were in range of it's own weapons, meaning it could be annihilated before ever firing a shot.
I was looking at the recon ships for shutting down frigates with EWAR, but that doesn't seem like enough. You'd just be one pilot to counter one other pilot. I feel like I need to shoot down or disable multiple enemy frigates to be worth bringing to the fight, OR, be able to do some thing besides anti-frig. That takes me to interdictors, but they're usually described as bubble and GTFO.
What about a Heavy Interdictor Cruiser fitted for anti-frig? When I see fits for those they're always mega tank with dps taking a back seat anyway. What if one were fitted to do lethal damage to frigs rather then loldps to larger ships?

Back when i was in 0.0 the common choice for anti-frig gate camps during CTAs were hurricanes with sebos and TEs coupled with rapiers.
A HIC or anchored bubble would stop them warping away. _______________________ The best thing in EvE is Barrage M. |

Interdictors and intys normally fill that role - along with their normal roles. HACs and Recons will assist depending on primary threat to gang and position.
Nobody brings destroyers on a roam. It just doesn't happen outside classes (Agony Wolfpacks) and flybys.
You don't usually come across a lot of frigates (other than the usual tackle/etc) enough to dedicate anything to killing them.

STEP 1: Take one(1) Ship, this is normally an interceptor dic/hic.
STEP 2: Assign Drones to said ship (10 BC = 50 light drones)
STEP 3: Order comes to destoy enemey tackle.
STEP 4: Said ship looks at enemey tackle for about 5 seconds until it disapears under drones
STEP 5: Repeat - Nulla Curas |
