I cannot send in game mail (crash on mouse event capture for send), trying to use the in-game browser is a crash when I try to close it. These are just a couple of issues I run into, wondering if anyone else is seeing the same or if it's a settings specific for wine. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04, nvidia drivers, wine default to xp, true type fonts installed. not sure how to access a debug file when it doesn't even terminate gracefully (i actually have to dump the system).

not seeing those issues with 64bit Arch. (nvidia/pulseaudio). I am using win7 as wine's default rather than xp. Updated Arch64 Compiz-Linux Desktop Who is John Galt? |

hmm, did you follow the questionably outdated howto wrt dependencies and registry keys? I did not, so if you have then I'll restart going whichever route you might have gone. Would installing the nvidia catalyst software on Wine have any bearing on it, do you think?

Strange behaviour indeed.
reminds me of the -very old - bug. I would put it rather on your connection/internet setup.
The Ingame-Mailserver and the igb probably open up a connection and crash (fail) upon closing it.
Have you tried sth like 32-bit NSS? or building wine with gnutls support?
Which version of wine do you use btw?
you can find out with : wine --version

I'm updating my linux native nvidia drivers and seeing if that could work (was 005 versions behind!) Fingers crossed...
What sort of dependencies does eve have within the windows emulator? are they all just directed to the proper hardware address through a filter? still not sure how wine works exactly...

Eve has no special dependencies. But since you seem to have issues when using webservices, i would put it on sth like dns/hosts or firewall config. |

Edited by: Yadrig Belatsi on 26/07/2011 18:57:17 It might hopefully be a client issue resolved in the latest patch. I could have sworn the auto-update from the client worked because I didn't get a patch prompt when it restarted (although I logged in rather quickly).
I wish I would have tried a manual patch before I started the 'fresh' install of everything *palm* Note to anyone installing from web: SAVE THE .7z ARCHIVES to a backup folder that way you don't have to redownload them if you don't need to - they're usually in the `c:/windows/profiles/All Users/Application Data/CCP/EVE/downloads` folder, check the details in the installer. I made the mistake of trying a clean wine install without saving them as backups and it added another 45+ minutes on a 1000/100 pipe.

Hmm. I'll definitely put in some work and grease up the registry a bit then and configure hosts for the winEmu. Thanks for bringing it up.

Wine 1.3.25 is supposed to fix the pulseaudio issues.
So maybe you should try to upgrade.
