talk about no risk posting. lol
haha, you're my new hero.
I like my bookmarks. I have maybe 100 of them, nothing to much. I use them to get around my home system as quickly as I can in the safe areas, and as I safe as I can elsewher.
Home in the middle of the region, ice mining 9 jumps one way, my agent 8 jumps another, starbase even further in another direction...
I play eve because I like it, but I don't have a whole lot of time to play. My time is valuable (to me). If I want to go from station A to station B, it's for a reason, and believe me, the reason is NOT for the view. As pretty as it is, most of these systems all look the same, and i've seen that cloud pattern hundreds of times... I just want to get to my destination. Most of my travelling is through safe space, i see no reason at all for ME to not have my bookmarks. Hell, take them out of 0.0 and make the warp distance 7.5km, that'd be fine by me, but in empire I would hate to see the loss of bookmarks, atleast with out many other significant chances.
I spent a lot of time making my bookmarks just the way I want them. I invested a lot of time making them, and have enjoyed the rewards from that.
For anyone who thinks this is ONLY a PvP game... I'm sad for you. I'm not even angry, I'm just sad. This game is huge, it's intricate, it's complex. There is more to this game than fighting each other and picking on people who have no desire to fight, you have to have the rest of it as well. The only way you are flying those fancy ships in the first place is from people like me, the miners and manufacturers who make them. And the flipside is equally true, we make these ships so you guys can fly them, if you didn't fly them we couldn't sell them.
I play eve because I like it, I don't have a lot of time to waste on flying around. I also don't exactly have my own escort service if I need to get around, and to expect everyone to be able to gather a force like that is unreasonable. You are not the only people playing this game, just the loudest.
No, with that being ignored or flamed by everyone, i'll just say... *shrug*
It doesn't matter what any of you think, bookmarks are here and they will NOT be changed any time soon. Maybe they'll reconsider it months and months down the road when the highway chances are implemented and EW has been fixed.
Everything has a counter to it, just no one wants to do it. Sure, I COULD use the courier missions to get people to haul stuff, but I'm not paying them as much as it would take to actually get done. There IS an option, but it's not feasible for me. You guys have an option (mobile warp distruptor) to fight against us, but they take a long time to set up and isn't always effective. There are always options, they're just not always desirable. Of course, think about it... you're making a device that is able to pull a ship out of warp... it's travelling faster than light and you want to stop it dead in it's tracks. Sounds like something that should cost a few bucks to me atleast. :)
Courier missions for carebear haulers, warp distruptors to force combat, scan probes for safespots... there are options for everyone's favourite pet peeve. Everyone has something to ***** about and always will.
But whatever, it's late, i'm babbling and jumping all over the place. At the end of the day I still have my bookmarks, while hunreds of ships get destroyed every day regardless. Personally I feel that my ore scanner having target indicators and the ability to filter the results is far more important ships slipping by gate camps or blockades, but I know the pvpers don't. We are all primarily interested in the game working the way we want it to, and everyone wants it slightly different. We can all give our input (though the unhappy people are obviously the most vocal), and after we have the devs do wahtever they feel is best for the game over all, that's all there is to it. I say open up 0.0 more so the large number of smaller players can take a ***** at it, leave bookmarks, slightly lengthen highways. I will exploit every possibility to avoid non-consentual combat, and you will do everything you can to force it on me anyways. Some things will never change, regardless of, well, everything.
oh, and increase sentry range while you're at it. Mobile ships having higher range than stationary gun placements is laughable. But with everything they throw at us, we're all still here... i guess we all like playing the game regardless :)
