Edited by: Rez Valintine on 26/07/2011 05:05:32 Preface: IÆve played this toon on and off since 2006 û he was made specifically for the Drake BC when it was released.
So I came back and made use of the 5 free days CCP gave me. You know what? I like it û in fact, I may renew.
I like how the CaptainÆs Quarters puts information at my fingertips; incursions, sov changes, etc û but what I like the most is that it adds immersion to the game, FOR ME. IÆve read many posts from users stating they can only get 1 or 2 fps or its slow and clunky û well to be honest, IÆm running my client on a $500 Dell paired with a 9800GT I scored on Newegg for $80 û 1600x1200 smooth as silk û all settings set to HIGH. Still - you need to standardize your controls though - you know, like how every other MMO out there does it? I find them to be clunky and annoying.
Then there is NEX û what I would like to see added is the option to add more character slots to my account, starter packages for any new alts I would like to create, maybe an account wide wallet û stuff like that is the sort of thing that I (I as in me) would pay for. I have bought character slots in the past when I played EQ2, I have bought special mounts and pets for my toons in World of Warcraft, I have payed for faction and race changes, more server transfers than I can remember û well you get the idea.
So in summary, I like the direction but I feel it is incomplete. However, it is much, MUCH easier for new players to get in the game and get started, which is good for me as perhaps I can convince some my buddies who play WoW to give this game a try.
But CCP, please, PLEASE û do something about your credit card processing û IÆm always getting flagged for ôunauthorized purchasesö or "fraudulent activity" due to the fact the transaction is taking place outside of the U.S., which in turn adds the hassle of using Paypal and a third party to get my account squared away.
ThatÆs my .02 isk
Ciao

Welcome back. Since you have been gone CCP has a new plan as far as expansions. They are rolling them out in increments now. Over all I believe it is a good plan. It helps them feel things out and not do things as half baked. I know some players want everything right now and do not understand the strategy. You will find there are quite a few trolls that like gasoline anytime they think there is a chance of a match.
Ya may wanna check out day four of the alliances tourney, CCP presents from fanfest, and some dev blogs if you want see the direction. We will hopefully be getting more blogs about the rest of incarna to come this year and the winter expansion soonish. Fly dangerous

That's why I created the toon - this was back when creating your character a certain way made the process a whole lot faster. It can also pilot T2 Frigs, SB's, Covert Op's, and BS'es - however, in a couple of days it's Tengu time and I'm tempted to blow this weekend's beer money on "getting 'er done". |

Yeah like releasing Captains Quarters with just one quarter (get it) of the races.
Or releasing a client that is extremely erratic in terms of compatibility.
Or releasing a client that doens't multibox.

Past has show that CCP has been extremely poor at "iterating" and such tactic is NOT A NEW ONE from them. In fact, it is business as usual. People who want quality content in sizeable chunks are just being reasonable. |

For you, perhaps - but how long have you been playing? Where were the internal announcements other than being in the system before this? Sure, you have the answers to all these questions - what about the new guy or the casual player (me)? If I want to do an incursion I can park in CQ, chat with buddies and wait 45 seconds to know - if I want to catch up on announcements and contests, park in CQ. It's like EvE 1.0 and Earth & Beyond had sex and this is the outcome. |

I personally cannot wait for all the bitter, whiny vets to leave. This game needs new blood and the tired masses of self-entitled *******s need to seriously GTFO and go play that awful Perpetuum game.
I happen to like the CQ, as limited as it may be. I would have liked to have had the choice to keep the original station environment should you choose to, but from what I understand it's coming back as an option. I don't understand what's so great about ship-spinning, never have. I also cannot wait for the rest of Incarna to come out, furthering the immersion factor of the game.
People complaining that it takes too long to load are just whining. Upgrade or GTFO. I'm running it flawlessly on a 5 year old machine. People complaining that you can't run two clients in CQ at the same time are ****ing morons. Why the hell would you want to? If you're going to run two clients simultaneously, then OBVIOUSLY it's for outside station gameplay, which you wouldn't be interested in the station environment in the first place.
I've yet to see where CCP called their player base the "golden goose". Maybe I missed it in the leaked memo, but I don't recall them ever referring to us as their "golden geese", nor did I see any evidence whatsoever about Eve going play-to-win. There were suggestions about being able to buy Aurum with PLEX and a few things about being able to buy back sec status, but I didn't see anything that suggested uber-ships or uber-weapons would be available only to people who could buy them with real money. There were a few ideas tossed around in that memo about the direction it could possibly go but none of it led to play-to-win gameplay; THAT was stated by the bitter, whiny players, in their infinite wisdom and the rumor they heard/started from their friend of a friend of a friend's goldfish's roommate.
This simply leads me to believe that the people who have ragequit will not be missed and their absence will only improve the community, as their kind has always done nothing but ***** and **** and moan about everything CCP does, when in fact it only boils down to them not getting exactly what they wanted. Tough ****. Go play Perpetuum because, frankly, the rest of us are sick and tired of hearing you babies **** and moan. |

Edit: PLUS, like you, I can't wait for them to leave. However, I also can't wait for the NEW FORUMS to be activated, as this will allow me to block every single one of them off my read list. Making the forums a much more positive environment to put my 50 cents in from that day forward.
I have a list already made of people who will get "INSTA BLOCKED"
Ferguson and Spank being the top contenders.
Absolutely. However, when I get bombarded by all these players with sand in their vaginas, it will only show exactly why we want them to leave and will have the opposite effect of what they intend. They seem to think that by them taking their ball and going home that we and CCP will somehow be saddened by their loss, when in fact the opposite is true: we welcome it. No one cares how many skillpoints they have or for how long they've been playing; if anything, it will only even up the playerbase. So don't delay! Don't wait for your time to run out! Go ahead and biomass all your characters in protest...we'll still be here to reap the benefits of what you're leaving behind. |

When I see posts of things like "3 characters with 100m skillpoints leaving", it only makes me smile because that just means 3 less characters are around to completely dominate the battlefield. When they post things like that they don't realize that they're actually improving the game for the rest of us by leaving. The good vets with over 100m skillpoints are the ones who can adapt to the changes and stick around to continually improve the game. If you hate the game so much, ****ing leave because we don't need you nor do we want you around. Don't go away mad, just go away.
Get back to work programming your game for Hilmar and stop trolling the forums. Please, please, please stop wasting CCPs time and money. |

Edited by: Astenion on 26/07/2011 13:41:03 LOL @ all of you. Anyone who actually likes Incarna even though its flaws have been acknowledged is obviously a troll or CCP alt, because it's IMPOSSIBLE that anyone would ever have a differing opinion than all of you dinosaurs. Seriously, why are you still here? You hate the game now, so the only reason I can come up with is you simply want to whine and moan on the forums.
Go "protest" and attack some indestructible stations and then just biomass; stop spamming the forums while you still have the game time left and just leave altogether.
You're all like those whiny musicians in bands (and if you've ever played in a band, you know what I'm talking about) who get angry and say, "I'm gonna leave and not come back, and I'm taking my cables and all my stuff with me!!! I'm warning you, I'm not coming back!!!", when what you really mean is, "Please stroke my ego some more so I can feel more important than I actually am; I want to feel like my input is important!" No one cares about your leaving, no one cares about how long you've been playing, and no one wants to hear any more crap roll out of your cakehole because all you do is bring negativity and hinder progress. You are the Catholic Church of video gaming.
Go get some sunshine you monitor tanned, elitist dorks. We will continue to have our life priorities straight and continue to enjoy Eve for what it is: a game. |

Edited by: Red Maiden on 26/07/2011 13:44:34 Woo hoo, here come the bitter vets with their whine glasses, as if on cue. It's like they have radar that attracts them to threads which contain positive thoughts about EVE. How dare someone think that Incarna might improve the initial experience for new players! How preposterous a person look forward to the direction of the game! The nerve!
Bitter vets, just go. Unsub. Stop posting. Don't look back. If you don't like the game, do yourself a favor and just leave. I'm thinking of you here. There are so many fun things to do in this world, why waste it on something that you don't enjoy?
The good thing is that no one will miss you, no one will care about your ragequit, so don't worry about the feelings of those who continue playing. Plus, you'll deflate the SP economy with your departure, thus further improving a new player's experience. It's a win win. |

1) ****ing on the old backstory - What happened to us being in capsules and suspended in fluid? Apparently its a step out onto a wire platform in the hanger balcony. I assume that we also just step back in fully clothed and off we go. Dislike this a lot.
2) The TV needs constant input - This is CCP, they'll get bored and suddenly we'll see the same RP news item for the next 6 months solid.
3) Docking up on short hops - to just pick up and drop off is a bit of a pain, I can see why we can't have a hybrid of the old and new system, maybe a disembark option.
Other than that, I like it. |

Yeah those are my gripes too. I really dislike the ignoring of the game's lore by being out of your pod every time you dock up, which is why I think bringing back the original hangar view as an option will be a happy medium between the two.
Also the docking up on short hops can be a pain like you said, so I usually turn off the CQ when I'm doing a bit of flying around. |

I reside in neither the enraged-bitter-vet camp, nor the CCP-alt-fanboi club. But I do remember the very first negative impression I got as a brand new player: "what do you mean I can't get out of my ship? ....a pod?.....I can't even look around the inside of my ship?....WTF?.....This lame portrait is it?"
I got over it quickly enough. :)
Once I found an AGP card that would handle the shader mumb-jumbo that kicked me outta Eve, I got back into Incarna. I sure don't miss the hanger and spinning my ship, but I don't do a lot of ambulating around CQ either. Mostly I do what I did before. I even check out the "selection" in the Nex store every now and then. I vowed never to buy anything out of it, but then I remember a similar vow concerning GTC's for cash.
I think it's a shame a bunch of guys are leaving over some of this, and a shame lotsa people are just as willing to give them a helpful kick out the door.
0.0 is unavailable to the small independents, wormholes are the last frontier, and empire is full of gankers, scammers and station huggers. And don't even get me started about half-finished content from CCP. But you aren't gonna pry me outta this game with dynamite. It's too much fun in spite of everything......or maybe because of it all......

Edited by: Astenion on 26/07/2011 15:26:42 I just re-read both Hilmar's email and the Fearless newsletter, and holy crap Batman, Eve players certainly did take that "golden goose" line WAY out of context!
When I first heard about it, it was here, on the boards, and something to the tune of, "OMGWTF CCP JUST CALLED US A BUNCH OF GOLDEN GEESE THAT FINANCE THEIR LAP OF LUXURY!!!!!!!1!ONE!!!!" However, when reading and re-reading it, it simply states that Eve is the golden goose which will finance other productions. DUH! Can you think of any other big titles out right now from CCP that makes money like Eve does? What else are they going to use to fund Dust/WoD, Monopoly money? What's the big deal here?
Are you telling me that Bioware shouldn't have used their past funds to develop Mass Effect, or that Blizzard shouldn't have used Diablo's popularity to develop WoW?
That Rockstar shouldn't have used GTA funds to create Red Dead Redemption?
Are you people ****ing kidding me? THIS is what you're upset over, the fact that they're investing the money made from Eve into other titles as well? Seriously? SERIOUSLY? THIS is what has your panties in a bunch? Grow up, you bunch of basement-dwelling children.
Your endless *****ing about all of this is akin to me buying a car from someone and then going back to tell him how to spend the money I gave him. Granted, I'd like to see a little more attention to Eve as well, but manpower has to be managed...they can't just throw a buttload of developers on something and not pay them. What if Dust/WoD become huge hits and become both cash cows? That means that there will be more money and more stuff for Eve as well. Have you ever thought about the possibility of Eve to go even further with the right capital? If so, how do you propose they get there? With a paltry 300k player base? Not gonna happen.
CCP is not Eve and Eve is not CCP. CCP is a money-making video game company and a pretty good one at that, at least for its relatively small size. It's fine to be unhappy about some things they do, and I agree with you that things need to be fixed, but do you really think your leaving because you're all butt-hurt because you didn't get your way is going to change their minds? You idiots need to learn the difference between CCP listening to its player base and CCP listening to YOU personally. Just because you say you want something doesn't mean you're going to get it. You can want in one hand and sh!t in the other and then see which hand gets filled first. |

This is an interesting thread to be reading. I have just reactivated my account about two weeks ago after a year and a half off and I have liked everything that I have seen that is new.
I didn't realize there was so much hate for bringing a more personal face to the game. That said, I have not immersed myself into the lore and I do not plan to. I'm here more for the social, team and gameplay aspects.
To me, this capsuler floating in some sort of embryotic fluid was just a way for CCP avoiding the "there is no player" speed bump in older versions of the game. Also, just out of curiosity, for those hung up fictional cannon, what was the deal with character creation in older versions and having faces if you were just a DNA sack in some bubble?
In any case, I guess I am one of the few looking forward to more places to explore in body form rather than spaceship. |

No, you're an illiterate loser with no life. What microtransactions? Aurum? Monocles? Last time I checked Eve is still subscription-based and said "microtransactions" are for vanity items. Do you people really believe the bull**** you spew? The hilarity of it all is that you can't even see that you're all *****ing over nothing. There has been so much hubbub about this NON-ISSUE that YOU PEOPLE somehow turned into an issue, and you're all like motorboats in a cesspool...all you do is stir up ****.
Yes, I call you ******s out for being, well, ******ed, and now I'm a spai for CCP. I'll go along with that. I'm secretly a CCP alt (), so I'll go on and speak on behalf of CCP: if all you're going to do is whine and cry over NON-EXISTENT problems, then unsub and GET THE **** OUT of our game. We don't want you, we don't need you, and we don't give two ****s how many accounts you have. We just want you to either pay us and STFU or leave and STFU; either way you'll be shutting the **** up. If you have a valid complaint about something you nutjobs haven't somehow invented in your simpleton minds, we'll be more than happy to hear it. Until then, just keep shutting the **** up.
Now if you don't mind, I need to get back to my whale blubber and cod dinner with Hilmar. The limousine is waiting, and since we're making SO much money off of you "golden geese", I think I'll just burn some of your money just to **** you off, because that's what non-existent microtransactions are for.

I have a dual core, 3 GHz machine with 3 gigs of RAM and a GeForce 460 video card...hardly what I would call "top of the line". The system is nearly 5 years old and I bought the video card for 150 euros. CQ loads and plays flawlessly. If you're adamant about playing with an abacus, then that's your business. I personally like better graphics in my video games. If you can't afford a better system (you can get a blazing fast one for about 6-700 euros these days), either:
A. Drink less alcohol
B. Smoke less pot
C. Get a job
D. All of the above
It's not CCP's fault your machine is subpar. In fact, out of all my games, Eve is the one that uses the least amount of resources. I can play Crysis and Crysis 2 with zero problems on a 5 year old machine, and you're telling me Incarna is a system hog? Don't make everyone else suffer and hold back the game's progress because you're too cheap to upgrade your 10 year old Radeon.

or should I say CCP Soundwave?
You are just upset over the fact that the Eve community thinks your MT marketing ploy is B O L L O C K S! The game was already dieing from botting and the effects of Pay-to-Win thru Plex.. Your ideas are just accelerating the downward spiral. Too bad, because Eve was a great concept.
As for "Bitter Vets" posting their resentment... this is more a case of "Bitter Developers" whining about failure... so screw you and the Pony you bought and rode in on. We will continue to post our criticism until you change your course or our isk bought plex time runs out.
Yes this is my main and you can check my sub and see that it hasn't been cancelled just yet, but I can assure you that I and one other player I know who, like me, subbed by the year will be granting your wish and leaving Eve for good after six years of playing if you continue down the road you have been contemplating.

Hahahaha!!! Again with the CCP spai BS! OH NO!!! CCP IS GOING TO LOSE SUBS FROM IDIOT PLAYERS! WHATEVER SHALL WE DO?!?!? Shut up and GTFO.
I've been playing for a year and a half, you ass. Just because I choose to think for myself and draw my own logical conclusions instead of jumping on the bitter vet failboat doesn't mean I work for CCP. But go ahead and keep thinking that I do...it's hilarious!
You are NOT the Eve community; you are simply a very small part of it. If anyone's upset, it's you. Your panties are all in a twist because NO ONE CARES ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK ANYMORE, at least not since you people started making up rumors and spreading it as fact.
Again with the, "I've been playing for six years!!! I'm more important than you!!!" BS...what is it with you people? CCP gets the same amount of money from me that they do from you. NO ONE CARES HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN PLAYING AND NO ONE CARES WHETHER OR NOT YOU LEAVE. Just leave already because we, the majority of the player base, don't want you around anymore. You are an annoyance and a hindrance to progress. As I said before, you are the Catholic Church of video gaming.
Where is this play-to-win stuff you're talking about? I've yet to see anything referencing play-to-win, but what I HAVE seen is a bunch of tinfoil hat-wearing boobs like you raising hell about something that doesn't even exist. I downloaded both the newsletter and the email from Hilmar, and I have gone over them several times and I've yet to find anything in it detailing anything about play-to-win. Soundwave in one part of the article said he was for microtransactions and Turbefield (sp?) said he wasn't. THAT WAS IT. There was nothing in there about P2W. The only thing that REMOTELY came close was something Soundwave mentioned about buying back sec status. THAT'S IT.
You illiterate dumbasses need to quit Eve just so you can go back to elementary school to learn 5th grade reading comprehension. Now stop wasting our time and GTFO already. The only reason CCP pandered to you in the first place was because you were part of the player base. Now that you're leaving, you're not...so hurry up and biomass and cancel your subs so we can get on with this game without having to deal with idiots like you.

RAGE ON BRO!
I'm simply here to poke holes in all their flaccid arguments. For the past month I've seen these idiots attack and even call on CCP employees to resign from their job because these these bitter vets are illiterate, drooling morons who have never heard of something called an "idea". For the past month they have levied false accusations against CCP and other players and now, after having read the newsletter and email, I'm left with no other choice than to bring up the contrasting view. It's not even a contrasting view; it's just the truth.
Therefore, since the bitter vets are all leaving yet for some reason still play the game, I will be the thorn in their side in order to effect their departure in a most fastidious manner. Whether they stay or go, either way they're gonna lose. If they stay, they're going to continue paying for a game that in their mind is going p2w (idiots); if they leave they're leaving behind a game they love. Either way it's a win/win for the rest of us. If they stay, they're making CCP more money, and if they go then we'll be rid of a bunch of annoying idiots.

Yes, because Italians are all flocking to Ireland for jobs. It's not fair at all, but it's no different anywhere else in the world, like the US (where I'm originally from). 110 billion euro debt? Is that all? By 2014, the United States debt will be up to 14 TRILLION. The US spends 1 billion dollars per MONTH just in Iraq. Don't whine to me about your country's debt; at least you get something for your debt like health care and education, whereas Americans just get shafted.
My friend works for an Italian company with a branch in Ireland, and I think he's trying to get on with Google in Dublin. Are you saying that Google is strictly an Irish company, and that only the Irish should work at Google in Dublin? What about Blizzard? McDonald's is always hiring, and if you are jobless and staying at home while *****ing about not having a job, then YOU are the problem and not the economy.
I work four hours per week this summer. Granted, it's 40 euros per hour, but still, you do what you can and make the sacrifices you have to make. Ireland is in worse shape than Italy as far as your economy goes, but Italy has one of the lowest wages in Europe. Granted, the food in Ireland is effing expensive as hell and really cheap here in Italy, but it's still expensive to live here as well.
Cancel cable television. Sell some stuff on ebay. Quit smoking. Quit drinking. Stop eating fast food and cook your own. Stop spending your money in the pubs. Toss your cellphone...believe it or not, you don't NEED it. You do realize there was a time before people had cellphones, right? Turn off the air conditioner and use a fan. Ride a bicycle and save gas. If you do all of that, in a month's time you'll have more than enough money to buy a brand new video card.

I can not say I disagree with Astenion's point of view. It is good to see that you are back and fanning the flame of discontent. Unfortunately OOPE has dropped in quality
It is laughable to think the game will fail because a few thousand vets and their alts quit because no one else can take their place in running 0.0 alliances.
That being said it is still possible that CCP could still push the self-destruct button.

I also recently came back from a two-ish year thought I was done deal. Still the same as when I left the first time. Only changes I saw were the cq and I got to play dress up with my character now. Woo freakin hoo. It's still fun to cruise around not doing anything in particular, salvaging, hacking, etc. Skill system is still ******ed imo, to slow for my tastes. If they're going to do microtransactions then freakin do them. I could care **** all about apparel for a character I hardly look at. Give me something that speeds up my skill training by 2-5 times. I would never pay for a sub to eve when I can just buy a plex or code whenever I want, queue some skills, log off and play a different game. Which is inevitably what's going to happen when swtor releases. I enjoy eve, the music makes good relaxing music and its fun to explore but when I have to wait for x to skill up so I can to y without seeing any tangible progress, it just burns me out. Missioning and pvp only go so far, and the only rewards from that is isk or something I don't need or can't use because I don't have the proper skill trained. Oh well, when tor releases ill take my money there and most likely have a hell or a better time. Meanwhile, skills will continue to slowly train for something that I forgot why I was training for in the first place.

Edited by: Bagehi on 27/07/2011 20:48:35 I am happy CCP finally released Incarna. I have high expectations for iteration on it though. If it is dropped into the "well that was fun" so they can roll out atmospheric flight (the other long promised release) without real iteration... well, I will keep playing. There isn't really a threat there. I will keep playing, because I've enjoyed playing for years and there isn't any better MMO to play out there. The best threat I can muster is I won't buy anything in the NeX store, but thus far, I haven't seen anything I really want so that isn't much of a threat either.
I have two complaints about Incarna. 1. The added clicking I have to do now. 2. The barebones feel of it.
