I still have three notepads full of signature IDs and what they were, and where I found them.

I only log the type of Cosmic Signatures scanned, not the ID#, name, when or where they were found.

I keep a spreadsheet.
Date, Region, Constellation, System, Signature ID, Type, Name, Time, Notes(drops, WH info, etc)
Over a thousand and counting.

Two sets of records.
One is for the signatures I do; it tracks faction spawns, escalations, and drops.
One is temporary and simply keeps the solar system, sig ID, and site name. This is for the chance that I return to the area.

Amazing how many people seem to log this stuff.
Doesn't explain why most wiki's are incomplete/dated and missing alot of information.

I used to help the evelopedia site. And then people started updating it with erroneous information and out right deleting some of mine (things like "found in particular System", listing the rats that will show up, saying the drops are broken, things like that).
Honestly its exploration for a reason. Its more fun to figure out how the sites work, what the patterns are and how you can best strike the jackpot.

I live in w-space and I record all the sigs i can out in my home hole.
I have learned alot about sig strengths, locations in the solar system. I dont update any tables though. I kinda consider everything I learn to be sort of a trade secret.

I was considering doing this as I'm new to exploration, do the signatures for each thing stay the same though? Are they in the same places each time?
For example, if I find a wormhole in a system that has a tag of SIQ-736 and then it closes, when it opens again (If that's even possible.) will it be in the same place / with the same tag?

Sig-IDs stay for a given site (not completed) until after server downtime. This is the only thing i write down sometimes, when i think i will come back to a system before downtime. Keeping records for everything including drops and stuff seems like nice idea (if only to supply our whining with some meaningful sample sizes hehe), but i myself have been too lazy to do so. I applaud the effort you guys put into this though!

I used to before we got the new probing system, as it seemed worth it at the time. I did for a little while after the new system came in to see the differences and so on
Now I am in control of my OCD, and only make a note when I am trying to work something out that doesn't make sense or could be a bug (sites not despawning for example).
I know most of the common sites by experience now (same with missions) so don't usually feel the need to refer back to notes/guides, unless it's something new or I haven't run in a while.
Like someone else said though, it's supposed to be fun, and keeping spreadsheets and stuff now feels too much like work for me...

Monthly, quarterly, half-annual, and annual pivots make them worthwhile. Otherwise, use Deep Space Scanner Probes to save time.
