Edited by: Gogela on 01/08/2011 21:14:34 Looks like CCP wasn't kidding about golden scorpions...
Was this for the NeX launch? Edit: Looks like there are advantages to this baby...
I can't link to the model here... but I've listed it on this ships page. If you look at it in game and scroll down to battleships under "not in game yet" you will see the Scorpion Ishukone Watch, a golden-colored electronic attack scorp. The links on this list only work in-game!:
Scorpion Ishukone Watch showInfo(4005)
Quote: With its focus on electronic warfare, few ships can resist the direct onslaught of the Ishukone Watch Scorpion-class battleship's jamming capabilities.
Traits 15% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength per level 20% bonus to ECM Target Jammer optimal and falloff range per level 20% Bonus to ECM Burst range per level
Details This variant of the Scorpion represents the pinnacle of the Ishukone paramilitary force's electronic warfare capabilities.
Development When Ishukone Watch was commissioned to produce a run of Scorpion-class battleships for its parent company, it was decided that a number of extra units would be offered to the capsuleer community to help fund the effort. Interestingly, the entire project took less than one year from start to finish, suggesting at some degree of urgency in the fleet's production.
Technology Though the typical Scorpion-class battleship includes a highly advanced sensor package, Ishukone Watch modifies their ships for policing duty around their worlds. Custom multispectral radiation scanners designed to catch all forms of planetary and extra-planetary communications replace the standard comms suite. Special LADAR and thermal imaging equipment allow Ishukone Watch ships to serve as a distant eye-in-the-sky for planetary security forces. Although these features are stripped out before decommissioned hulls are placed on the open market, the infamy of the Ishukone Watch still makes ships popular with independent ship buyers.
Notes Many wonder why Ishukone Watch would produce a massive run of electronic warfare battleships, especially with sensor suites fine-tuned to detect planetside signals. Some have speculated that these ships were intended to support a larger, multinational fleet. Regarding the mass production of these ships, Ishukone Watch CEO Eborimi Shiskala praised her parent corporation with an "incredible dedication to the Ishukone doctrine of technological superiority."

Little is known of its capabilities, but what has been garnered suggests that the Scorpion is crammed to the brink with sophisticated hi-tech equipment that few can match.

That's what Evelopedia has to say about Scorpion. Not sure what it says in game as it's been a while since I boarded a scorpion (or even logged in) - but could you identify what "Looks like there are advantages to this baby..." means?

Since game doesn't yet support selling ship skins for AUR, CCP was initially going to sell this differently painted ship for AUR. But that didn't go well with players so that plan was scrapped.

So if its the equivalent to 110 mil isk for the cheapest pair of boots in the NEX, what will a new ship skin cost? I'm guessing at least double the price of the monocle, maybe 4-5 times as much.

Oh... they scrapped the idea? Well I didn't see this new "paint-job" scorp as having a unique item ID until the incarna patch. Yah, there are a TON of ships with models in the game, but adding it with a unique item ID and giving it the stats it needs for that is another matter... that's when a ship becomes real. Now it's a real ship. It's there. You can fly it. I just wonder if they are going to let us or if it's just going to be like the Infested Dominix... pretty to look at but not in-game.

So... yah I guess I have been living under a rock. ...but I have seen all the models for all the ships... and yes I had seen the model for the new Ishkone variant... but the model didn't have a unique item ID at the time. I maintain a list of every ship in the game with a unique ID (pilotable ships, not necessarily in-game [many are not]) and the new scorp just showed up as having one in the Incarna expansion. So Mr. super-informed-hand-on-the-pulse-of-all-things-eve... answer me this... when do pod pilots get them in game? Do you know?
I wonder if I'll be able to get an Infested Dominix at some point...

Well, they scrapped the idea of selling ship for AUR.
Other idea which I've heard is to sell differently painted ship for AUR + basic version of ship. i.e. you give normal Scorpion and some AUR to get Ishkukone Scorpion which has same stats but different painting - but game doesnt support this yet.

The "Golden Scorpian" as it is called will be introduced later into the NEX store once trade-ins (similar to the LP store) are up and running in the NEX.

Well that answers that...
...I wonder if this will put downward pressure on the prices of alliance tournament prize ships or other unique ships, as collectors may find their collections a little lackluster with all the "new" ships that will likely come into the game. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I wonder how much it will be... *sigh* I hope CCP Zulu was kidding about it costing $10,000.00 (2,341,137 AUR or ~ 669 PLEX). |

I so very very badly hope it is $10k. Even better if it's $100k. That way NeX will become an even bigger joke, make this whole w***e st0re crap completely abandoned by the players and ridiculed industry-wide, and allow it to completely fail never to rise again.

That would be about 230 bil ISK, about same what someone was trying to sell Raven State Issue for earlier this year. If those new ships are not limited edition, then that price would be a bit high.
Also I don't think these ships could lessen the value of any limited edition ship. Limited edition is still different from any special non-limited edition ships.

The idea for custom skins is a good one. I would love to have a roden shipyards thron, but here is what was going on with ccp. How do you pay for such a thing? That is where teh debate come from.
They can't charge a ton of aurum for it otherwise no one would buy it. and you cant flat out sell this ship cause that makes things come out of thin air which is bad.
So what i am thnking is, it woudl prolly cost a few hundred aurum, plus you need to trade in a scorpion to get the new one.

Please stop failing so bad with your exciting "new discoveries" (obviously new only for you). New scorp "showed up" with unique ID two months ago. Period. Cockroach was added as special ship for bughunters since 9 march 2011. It was available in the client as mesh long before that. Every player that participated in mass test after that date have seen this ship on Singularity on every single test event.
