With all the hub-bub about the changes, I decided to come back. Bought 3 months worth - and I have to say, I like it. One thing I always thought was missing was the immersion. It really feels like a Stanley Kubrick film. Dark, yet beautiful.
So I'm back. I know no one cares. But I'm back.

Yep very immersive. You dock, magicaly appear straight out of your pod, pod goo is washed off, you even had time to slip into some new or old cloths, yet when you try to switch ships you get a message that you have to wait cause you're still docking.
Wait, what?

LOL, so true.
I think CCP needs to find a better supplier for the stuff they are smoking during brain storming sessions. I like most of the changes but some have had a significant negative affect on the community. If you make ten great decisions and one really bad one, it is the bad one everyone will remember.

The better error is when you try to clone jump, but apparently can't as you're in your ship. You're on your sofa. You apparently need to get in your pod to jump.

Look I'm not saying that there aren't some serious flaws in the way we are forced to decant from our pods every single flippin' time we dock. But seriously, we all know why the session timer is there, does it matter if CCP has not gotten around to changing all the text prompts to indicate some [random fictional explanation for why our ship is not ready yet] that matches the new content?

OK, since you asked nicely
The premise of the issue that you were responding to was that being dumped on the balcony at every dock is unnecessarily immersion breaking. It did not have to happen, it was blatantly forced on the players to make sure the NeX store had as much exposure as possible. Calling complaints about this nitpicking or saying that some open work is understandable is really missing the point (that you seem to ba aware of so I don't understand why you try so hard to excuse the really shabby implementation of this whole CQ/Incarna business). ... But I agree that the decanting on every dock is a little far fetched and forced. I do not agree that pointing out mismatched or outdated text prompts is a sure sign that CCP missed the ball on the entire CQ experience itself.
Anyone who has been playing for more than a few years knows that text stuff is last on CCP's list. I mean, they literally just added ship class to the T2 information window.
All I was making a point of was that there is no reason to expect CCP to devote an inordinate amount of time to the textual elements in the game more so than the actual content itself as they have a clear history of doing just that.
I definitely agree that being forced to decant upon docking every time is a bit much, even if they wanted exposure for the NEX, it just makes little sense in any way. I am in the middle of a sov war, but when I dock to reship I get out of my pod and get fully clothed first for thirty seconds, before I can strip down, get in my pod, hook up, reship, and wait again to undock into an ongoing battle?
I think you may have simply misunderstood the little that I did write, but I would appreciate it if you would ask me to clarify the next time, I am happy to debate whether I am schooled or do the schooling, but not happy to have assumptions made about me.

There is no chance one could call the current Incarna a step towards more immersion. While there is potential, EVE has always had incredible potential. Other examples of systems that had great potential, and I guess still do:

I like what they're doing with the game generally, turrets in particular were a long time coming. I'm not going to trust any more of my time or money though if I know CCP are going to aid douchebags in nerfing and buffing things that big alliances and gatecampers want along with the fuss over micro-transactions.
Good for you that you've found stuff you like in this game, I love the sovereignty map myself, but I'm not going to sit back and see all the sandbox elements of EVE get destroyed because of a few selfish turds who want an easier time in game because they've played the longest.

That's good to hear.
Of course it's not like anything much has changed from the old system. The session change timer has always been there, and makes no more or less sense from an "immersion" point of view than it did getting that same message while ship spinning.
Pehaps all they need to do is change the message to "One moment, your ship is being prepped for launch", or "One moment while we compute your merge into the undock pattern".
Not so hard.

This is that you change ships all you want in station, but you still have to wait thirty seconds to undock again, right?
Cuz the whole reason for the timer is to prevent exploits, i.e. people playing outside station, they deaggress, dock, immediately undock in another ship, continue fighting instantly.
I am all for being able to swap ships endlessly in station itself while a single 'dock/undock' timer is ticking away, but being able to instantly dock/undock in ship after ship? Thought CCP did away with this years ago because people abused it.

They said that they will re-visit all the old game mechanics in the game eventually. That takes time. The "steps" toward more immersion are being implemented. Just not as fast as you wish they were. Without patience, you will never be happy. But I see you're happy to call everyone that posts anything positive on the forums a troll, except for the butthurt whiners, such as yourself.
The game is time based, yet you can't wait. The game is improving, yet you can't see. The game is optional, yet you feel obliged to stick around and cry up to the very last minute.
When you consider coming back in December, let's hope you read as much of the forums as you can PRIOR to re-subbing. I have a feeling you won't see a smidge of what you want until 2013. Even then, read the forums again, as your wish may not be 100% implemented to your exact specs.
Positive trolls gonna take over all ur poasts.

LOL true, it is kind of strange that they spent roughly what... five years on this project, and no one had the wherewithal to remember to change the messages about session timers while in station, etc. I guess I just chalk it up to the same reason that I was more shocked when they fixed and included T2 ship classes in the information window at long last. Hell I pretty much had assumed that would literally never get fixed.
It is certainly a point to consider, I was just a little curious at the poster that made it seem like it was THE final straw or something, which is kind of comical when you think about someone nerdraging and hulking out over the last straw being a session timer warning talking about still docking their ship when they are rolling around in their leather bra and panties in their private quarters.

I agree to a certain point. It ****es me off that you have implants rather than something like "Trained and competent crew points" Rather than having to loose Halo Alpha implant, how about a 25 year Operations specialist Master Chief.
The explanation on how you can see your ship is also a bit silly.
Still, I want the immersion - the more the better.
EVE is the closest thing to being in a Stanley Kubrick film. The insane love hate relationship of Eve's cult following is just extra gravy.
