At the moment due to commitments, I can only spend about one hour per week loged in. Since it just isn't enough time to PvP in, I am thinking of spending it raising ISK for the future time when things will quiet down.
Question is, what is in your opinion is the most profitable return for such a time constraint?
In my case trading is out though, because I fail hard at it. Read all the market discussion forum stickies, read all guides I could find, started with 300 million and started experimenting since no one will help you. Took me over a year and a half in real time to make a billion .
So I should rephrase the question: What is the most profitable option for a person that is incompetent with the market if he has only one hour per week of login time?

PLEX is out of the question. I spend enough money on this game already. Especially now when my time for it is so short.

You can use this to calculate how much you could make with R&D agents: http://hussars-online.ru/eve/datacore.php
It seems that at max skills you can get at most 19 mil per month per agent (and only from some agents). Not that much. (I dont know if that calculator has been updated to take into account new agent quality of +20)

In addition to the stuff mentioned already, market trades. You can make a tidy sum simply buying low, selling high on stable market items. The fact you are away for long periods can work for you, giving your lowball regionwide buy orders time to be filled. Avoid trade hubs like Jita tho, as there you will be perma-0.01 isked.

If you have some ISK, you can get 5% weekly interest from investment firm Phaser Inc..
Of course with firms like that, there is no way to know if that is real thing or Ponzi scheme scam, since even scam would pay you interest until it collapses and takes all ISK inside.
(I did use that for few weeks until I realized I can make more than 5% weekly by trading myself).

PI and datacores
both easy enough to get skills for both generate decent passive income
the datacores are a visit the agents 1 time to start then whenever you want to cash in the PI, look at what can easily be produced and guarnteed sell(rocket fuel & robotics are both single planet high moving items... tho not always the best profit they do profit... there are others too) ---------------------------------------------------------- WTB Sig must include NOS Domi KILLING Ponies other details to be discussed, EVEmail me for details |

Yes. Simply. It just rubs salt in the wounds when someone says that seeing how badly my attempts went. Next thing you will link me to a market discussion thread where someone can't shut up about how he turns 1 million ISK into 50 billion in two weeks and how anyone who can't do the same is an idiot.
Anyway, I guess trading is the best solution, but unfortunately it is just not for me. Thus the question is what is there besides trading.
Datacores is something that I am in the process of grinding for. PI is something I will need to start looking at. Thank you for responses thus far. Is there anything else that will fit the bill? Maybe level 5 mission LP?

You don't want to do trading which is a pity because this is the obvious one.
PI has been mentioned and is more or less low effort income. If you don't attend to it, big deal, it can just sit there.
Working up to research agents for their datacores is a good idea but if you only have 1 hour a week at the moment this will be a long term project and will interfere with your other activities. One hour isn't a lot of time when you have PI stuff to collect or whatever.
If you can put up a POS somewhere you can research blueprints, moon mine, react or manufacture but anything in low sec is going to need you to be able to respond quickly to threats and you risk losing your investment.
You can always research and manufacture to the best of your ability using station services, might as well make use of them. I'd hardly imagine the income is much but it gives you something else you can do mostly passively at least. ~~~
