I dont agree about the sniping part, there are ways even with the probe buff.
However I do agree ccp is lacking lately.
Do not know if they are focused on the 2 month of fun dust 514 or a twilight vampire mmo, but they are lacking and population will follow :( I unsubbed, still hang around here cause I want to see things happen good for EVE and will post to hopefully help CCP see it.

Edited by: Deviana Sevidon on 04/08/2011 09:04:43 Where you really here when Red Moon Rising came, or did you just decide to forget a few things about the expansion?
When the part of the expansion came out in december 05, there was unbearable lag, even in empty systems far away from any hub. It took CCP more then a week to fix the problem. Yet player whined less then today.
The later RMR patches and introduction of the 3th. bloodlines brought a number of crashes and emergency TQ reboots. People were loosing skilltime on their new characters without a queue and yet they complained less.
With one of the last RMR patches came load balancing of the nodes, which initially had the opposite effect on lag, any gate in 0.0 was a gamble if it would let you through. Sometimes it took minutes before you could jump through the gate becoming deathtraps. Even then players complained less.
Yes, sometimes I miss the old days, but no amount of whining will bring them back. I left 0.0 never to return when I saw douchebags as alliance leaders everywhere I went and supercapital blobs of every increasing size. No amount of whining will bring the fun back I had while flying sniper BS (don't bother looking, this was not my main PvP char).
Yet with Incarna, once the true expansions comes, not the tech-demo we have now, it will open a lot of possibilities for the spaceships part of the game (smuggling, dynamic PvE/PvP content). There is a lot of potential for awesome stuff

Want to buy whatever Rose Tinted Glasses you're wearing. 5000 Aurum. I remember not being able to logon for at least two weeks after the expansion due to constant server downtime, implants would magically disappear from you when you died, jump cloned, changed ships etc. Jump Clones would randomly be destroyed when jumping, fleet fights were stable if you had 30 man gangs, anymore than that and things went poof, numerous POS bugs, tons of server lag issues (see: the fall of LV). Desync issues were fairly frequent towards the end.
I think people remember the 'good old times' in a different light whenever the latest expansion messes up.

RMR was glorious in the first few days because they had just introduced can flagging. I killed so many people out mining in those days because we would can swap and then when they took it back would smoke them.
One incident in particular comes to mind. A hauler came in and took the can and my buddy and I tackle it and are working it down. It is taking FOREVER! I am all like WTF! Then after it dies I look at the kill mail and it was a Mastodon. Should have ransomed it. DOH --------------------------------------- www.eve-pirate.com original author |

I miss Castor at the very end. No POS wars, no Cap ships, no formal alliances... just lots of pew pew and station ping pong.

Not to forget the numerous POS exploits, at least one of was only discovered years later.
Posgate - exploit for infinite production of moon products exploit to target and shoot through a POS shield aggression exploit, to kill the ship of a player who logged off inside a POS shield with his supercap POS- ship bowling exploit
gate-jump disconnects, when a fleet of 50 people jumped through a gate while another fleet was waiting on the other side, everyone would disconnect and the outcome of the battle was decided on who was faster logging back in again.
