I know the hybrid topic is getting old but I was thinking what if? hybrid weapons should not have any fitting difficulty because of it they already have the downsides of both procectiles and lasers so why add pg and cpu issues into it also?
hybrid vs laser laser need no ammo but uses cap hybrid needs both ammo and cap reload time for lost dps and cargo space for ammo I am pretty sure that laser does more dps than hybrids so overall laser wins
hybrid vs projectiles both needs ammo but hybrid need cap both reloads so both suffer from lost dps and both need cargo space for ammo but projectiles do more dam so they win overall
proposed fix no hybrid fitting issues so hybrids could almost always use top tier of guns 150mm, 250mm and 425mm that would nelect the dam difference a bit even if this would be done hybrid still need to be looked at So I am not saying that I know it all or anything this is just a though that popped up and I found myself compelled to post this

Most everyone agrees that hybrids need a fix, so many ideas out there on how to do it. Especially on that they need more PG, better Optimal, tracking and falloff. But that is a good point that they are the only ones that use cap and ammo, so yeah, they do suck atm. All the answers we need are inside of us. |

How about a haiku instead ...
Even myrmidons have autocannons fitted ... waiting for a patch.

1. Hybrids are getting "fixed" next summer. 2. You do realise Hybrids (Blasters atleast) have the best dps ingame.

Blasters DPS is awesome, just the range on them sucks. No one is really saying they need more DPS, just need to be able to hit the target. Why I said about optimal range, Falloff and tracking. All the answers we need are inside of us. |

dps maybe.. but not appliable dps.
Why not hack the mym for auto cannon boosts :P

Pretty good, here's a more in-depth comparison:
* Lasers use a lot more capacitor than hybrids but amarr ships tend to have very strong reductions in the capacitor cost. Beam lasers do more dps than railguns, so an amarr ship with one laser damage bonus has about the same dps as a railgun ship with 2 damage bonuses, and also requires about the same amount of capacitor. * Beam lasers, railguns, and artillery have almost exactly the same range. Railguns have the longest range by a tiny margin. * Autocannons have the shortest optimal range (it's virtually insignificant) but the highest tracking speed. Blasters have a bit more optimal but less tracking speed. This is further offset by autocannons having a much greater falloff range than blasters. Thus it is difficult for blasters to hit anything at all, because their tracking is not high enough for their range. * Hybrid ammo takes twice as much space as projectile ammo. Autocannons shoot slightly faster than blasters but railguns shoot much faster than artillery. So hybrids take up the most ammo space out of all turrets. * Blasters have the highest dps of short-range turrets. However, it's only a little higher than autocannons and pulse lasers, while it's fantastically easier to hit targets with autocannons or pulse lasers. * Artillery has the lowest dps of all long-range turrets. This is offset by its high alpha strike, giving it a useful tactical niche. Railgun dps isn't much higher than artillery though, while its alpha strike is about the same as beam lasers. * Lasers require the most powergrid of all turrets. Hybrids are a close second, and autocannons require much less. Another problem with this is that Caldari ships (even turret ships) tend to have high CPU and low powergrid. This makes it difficult for them to fit their intended weapons, and gives rise to the notorious autocannon-fit railships and blasterships. |

good thing i use projectile turrets then. but seriously, the vindicator can do massive dps and the blasters have a short range, but they have a faster fire rate and higher damage multiplier of all the short range turrets. as for railguns, they suck and they do need a fix.
