I just resubbed after almost a year away and had a few questions. The first account I started when I first joined the game was focused on mining and other indy stuff. I then created a second account once the first started producing money to support a combat oriented pilot. I ended up canceling both accounts due to some real life curve balls and have just recently come back as I've always loved the game. When I logged on I found my old corp had disolved and now I'm wondering what direction to go next. Both characters have just shy of 3 mill SP's, both Amarr and based in Amarr space, not that I wouldn't move if need be. I'm interested in pursuing a more pvp approach to the game since that is what has interested me more in past MMO's.
So there is the back story.. now the questions.
As I said, I want to get into some pvp but I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to EVE's pvp. I also know that most good pvp corps want nothing to do with folks with 0 kills under their belt. So what do you vets reccomend when it comes to getting my feet wet? I read in another thread that EVE UNI might be a good starting point but I don't want to miss any other options that you more experienced players might know of. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Second, I'm kind of interested in what I've read about stealth bombers as well as support ships that repair corp mates during combat. That sounds very interesting to me. Are either one of those something that good corps look for when recruiting? If so, any advice about either of those two paths would be much appreciated as I've always played support roles in all the past MMO's I've played and it's something I enjoy.
Thanks for reading my wall of text and thanks in advance for any advice!

You can't go wrong with e-uni. The only bad thing abotu e-uni is getting in.
You basically need to find some people you can trust and join their corp. We are accepting players of all experience levels and teaching them PvP. Feel free to msg me in game if you dont want to wait for the e-uni queue. |

Faction war is also another good option. I would recommend the Amarr militia as they tend to have helpful FCs and friendly members. Gallente and Caldari will provide bigger fleets, if you want something larger. Don't join Minmatar--they aren't the friendliest.
Logistics is a very fun aspect of the game. I would suggest starting with tech 1 ships for a beginner, however. Fly around in a tech 1 frigate until you get really good at tackling, and get used to flying with fleets. Then try tech 1 cruisers, and slowly build your way up.
Never fly something you can't afford to lose, or can't fit very well. You will be more useful in a well fit, small ship, then in a poorly fit large ship.
As you go, you'll eventually get cruiser V which will be one step toward flying Recons, Logistics, HACS, etc. I would hold off on flying those for a while, as they are much more expensive then their tech 1 counter parts.
So, long story short, 1. Join a pvp corp that fits what you think you'd like to do 2. Fly what you can fly now well before moving on 3. Fly cheap ships to start out with. Losing expensive ships can be discouraging for a beginner.

So Amarr militia is pretty rookie friendly? As in they will help teach a new pilot the ins and outs of pvp? If so that's definitely an idea. Now this might be a dumb question but.. if you join a FW militia does that mean my standings with the opposing empire will become so low I get zapped as soon as I enter the others space? And if so, does that have negative long term effects? I only ask because say I find a good pvp corp down the road and they happen to be located near gallente space or wherever, is that going to make it hard for me to get around?
Either way, thanks for the replies!

Logistic pilots are always wanted by pvp corps. Assuming you can fly a logistics ship with good fittings and logi 4 at least or 5 then you will probably find yourself in more demand than a stealth bomber pilot. Stealth bombers are really not as epic for pvp as they might sound like. they are nice for some things. But for high sec or low sec pvp you will find little use for them.

Ok, thanks for the imput. I think I'm going to check out logistics. I have a pretty good foundation SP's wise and a ton of refunded SP's to spend so I think I'll do some research on Logistics and see if I can find a solid plan to take me in that direction.

As a stealth bomber pilot myself, probobly one of my favorite ships to fly, I will have to whole heartedly disagree. Stealth bombers, in particular when you have 2-3 in a fleet together are awsome fun in low sec. You of course have to be the aggressor and certainly the tactics involved take a bit of practice, but don't shy away from them if they interest you. They are just plain stupid, crazy fun in PvP.

A question regarding stealth bombers... I fly Amarr and have some Caldari trained, is Amarr's stealth bomber gimp compared to the others? I thought I read that somewhere.

People will work out a niche setup they want on a bomber and wax lyrical about only 2 or 3 of the 4 can achieve this due to slot layout, CPU or grid. You can find 1000000000 guides to stealth bombers and each one will have a different PRECISE way you need to do it.
Truth is, they're all useable.
Except the Nemesis. I mean, **** ... what were they thinking -------

Amarr SB is ideal for taking out missioners and plexers who run in galente/caldari/minmatar space.
They all have very low EM resistance, and as such can be blown up easier. _______________________ The best thing in EvE is Barrage M. |

Edited by: Lu Jin''Drago on 10/08/2011 17:23:42 That's good to hear. I like my amarr boats so far, at least the ones I've flown, and didn't want to cross train too much at this point. I read it's best to train and learn to fly well the frig class and then slowly work your way up learning and training to fly each class of ship well before just jumping into the biggest, shiniest ship you can fly. I'm trained up to BS but not well were as my frig 5 is almost done and my gunnery and other necessary skills are coming along nicely. Mission mobs rarely hit me and I'm tearing through them nicely in my t1 frigs.
Obviously I'm a long way off from being able to arm and fly a SB with any skill but It's good to know I won't waste all my time training amarr skills and then get in a SB and realize it's in all actuality useless.
On a side note, you folks have been very helpful! Thanks!
