Not that I have gone out for a bender recently and had to deal with a hang over but I find that before going to sleep and being very drunk I find that sticking fingers down the throat to force a throw up of all the alcohol from the stomach really helps with hangover recovery.

Make sure you do that in the toilet and not the sink.

The absolute best way to not be hung over the next day after a night of drinking...
Before going to bed consume the following: 1 big ass burrito, the size of your head like this 1 big ass glass of water 2 multi-vitamins
Guaranteed no hangover the next day.

Drink a ton of water before you pass out, and maybe try to eat/drink some tumeric (curry spice). Works surprisingly well.

Well, consuming large amount of water will help against hangover before you sleep. Once of every full moon or special occassions, i drink massive amounts of alcohol. Never vomit before too even, but anyway, yeah i drink good amount of water and not once i had a hangover. No lie :O ----------------------------------- Peace through power!

Water and a couple aspirin before you go to bed has always worked for me. At a minimum, drink water.

A dose of vitamin pills, a buffered aspirin, loads of water and/or milk, and a big, nicely seasoned bacon-and-egg sandwich.

Careful with that. Too much water can make you quite sick, and honestly I don't think it helps all that well with hangovers. Same thing with milk...

We call that "hair of the dog" around these parts. In my case, it's always whiskey.
I will agree that it's better to not get yourself in the situation to begin with. Usually I'll have 1 glass of water for every 2 alcoholic drinks I consume, throughout the night, then one more glass, some asprin, and a bit to eat before I fall asleep. Sticking to this method I've found I can drink quite a lot without a hangover the next day.

it can, but that much is hard to consume without some extreme reasons. it's something like 2 gallons or more in a very short period. anyone whos stomach could hold that without pain could probably absorb that much water with relatively little danger of said repercussions. no, I'm not saying it's not possible, just not easy, and unlikly to be done accidentally when trying to rehydrate after an ambitious night of drinking.

Water, before you pass out try and drink a pint, if you need to get up for a p1ss, drink some more water, next day more water again but by this point the damage is done and you're just rehydrating yourself.
21 years in the brewing industry taught me that.

Dehydration is a significant contributor to the "bad" effects of a hangover, so rehydration certainly does help. It's obviously not a "cure" since it's not the only (and probably not even the main) contributor, but it's one that can be easily countered. Water and/or milk in extremely large quantities can indeed make you sick, but you would be EXTREMELY hard-pressed to manage to drink enough in a single "sitting" to really cause a problem, since your stomach won't fit enough of it (especially not while also having a non-trivial amount of food in it - hence, the sandwich).
The main concern with a bit too much water or other fluids consisting mainly of water taken in a single quick large dose is that they can create an electrolyte imbalance in the blood (too much water, not enough electrolytes) which would disrupt the normal biologic processes, so adding enough seasoning to your sandwich (primarily salt) should assist a little bit with that potential issue too. Then again, you are already dehydrated when drunk, so it shouldn't really be that much of an issue to begin with.
The bacon and egg in the sandwich also help in their own way - some of the nutrients in the egg allegedly assist with the processing of alcohol (well, the clean-up of byproducts of the initial alcohol processing, more precisely) while the fatty nature of the bacon ever so slightly lessen the absorption of whatever alcohol you might still have in your bowels that was not absorbed into the blood yet, giving your body a slight reprieve.
The aspirin is obviously mainly taken as a short duration analgesic, to temporarily reduce the discomfort. Most vitamins probably don't help that much, B6 in particular is the most effective but usually noticeable only in quantities much higher than normal, which you're unlikely to get from a standard multivitamin pill. However, vitamins don't exactly hurt and should allow some of your other body systems to recover slightly faster (since you probably don't ONLY have a hangover, but also a lot of other minor inconveniences you might not notice because the hangover itself is the main plight at the moment).
All in all, there is really no "hangover cure", there's only slight mitigation of some negative effects and helping the body recover a tad bit faster. _

Different methods seem to work for different folk.
I found that back when I was drinking amounts large enough to run the risk of hangovers that a bit of a chong and a pint of milk before beddie-byes seemed to mitigate the worst of the effects the next day.
I am in no way suggesting that you all rush out and invest in a similar herbal hangover preventative, just telling you what worked for me.

Water and open the 2lt of Coke before sleep lets the fizz die which can shoot up your nose in the morning aggrevating a hangover.
Loose the beer smell in the morning with garlic or chilli for breakfast to strip the detritus of your tongue suppose you could brush your teeth aswell.

You might have trouble getting this if you live outside of Europe (don't know actually... maybe you can)
Anyway, the traditional anti-hangover stuff here involves: - Sauerkraut juice against hangover - eat fresh parsley leaves against the smell |

Smoking's nice but when you're partying you gotta have alcohol.
I prefer both at a time myself.

This, vitamins heavy on B. Try to gulp down a bunch of water before sleeping (i.e. while drunk still). Save sandwich for the "I'm sorta ok now, OMGhungy" moment, typically somewhere towards the end of your, now shorter, hangover.
edit: ofcourse while drunk: semi-sensible junkfood. And take it easy with the cigarattes if you are a smoker, they tend to make things worse the next day.

Well whatever you wish to call it, it does have one merit. It will be pretty effective in having you puking up any alcohol waiting to be taken up in your stomach... tho i think i prefer the finger-throat method suggested earlier
edit: reading fail. well, at least the punch in the face resulting from the concoction-throwing will have your brain occupied in another way.
