The only time I have gotten a BPC for a pirate ship is through an escalation, started off in lowsec and ended up in 0.0 - was a Phantasm BPC, I an nothing of an exploration guru so won't say you can't get em' from anything other than combat sigs/escalations

"Officer spawn"
When I was about 1 month into the game, I was mining in my erm.. something and long story short an officer spawned on me, I killed it and got a Cruor blueprint out of it.

I Pulled a Dramiel BPC out of the structure in the final room of a static 2/10 in lowsec

Officers are BS-sized only, and I'm fairly sure you can't kill an Officer with a 1-month old mining char (not without a GM ship, lol). I would imagine you got a frig-sized Faction spawn, which can, extremely rarely, drop pirate frig BPCs.
And to answer the OP, you want combat sites. Any plexes or faction spawns of the right pirate group can spawn a faction BPC of the appropriate size (1/10-3/10 sites are frig, 4/10-6/10 are cruisers, and 7/10-10/10 are BS IIRC).

I was running a plex last night with my corp in null. We were doing a military outpost of the angels and the last officer in it drop a machriel bpc.

I have a dreaded suspicion that NPC size defines BPC drop, not plex lvl. Any1 care to confirm? say cruiser BPC from 7/10 or higher? ---- Drones eat everything. Trust me. |

Nice post informative post.
A minor correction; 7/10 plexes drop cruiser BPC's not BS BPC's.

Are you sure? I was fairly sure that 7/10 is the BS C-Type site. I could very well be wrong, but that was my impression

Serpents narcotic warehouses - a high sec site - can drop a daredevil bpc from the station in the last room.

I don't think they're all that rare. I have found two BPC in frigate spawns in belts.
Also I think the proper term is "commander spawn".

Edited by: Czeris on 12/08/2011 10:00:58 7/10 is Battleship bpc, not cruiser. Some of the non-rated combat sites are a little wonky with their loot tables. For example the Serpentis Logistical Outpost drops Vigilant BPCs (quite frequently) and is considerably harder than most other 4/10 - 6/10 sites (and some 8/10 and up sites .
Also, any faction rat has a very small chance to drop a ship BPC, and it is dependant on the size of the rat, just as the modules are (i.e. no XL shield booster from a frigate).
edit: Mag sites never drop ship BPCs, only Large Rig bpcs.

It works as follows:
Frigate:
Chance of BPC from any frigate commander (dread guristas, true sansha, dark blood etc) and overseer in 1,2,3/10 plexes.
Cruiser:
Chance of a BPC from any cruiser commander (dread guristas, true sansha, dark blood etc) and overseer in 4,5,6/10 plexes.
Battleship: Chance of a BPC from any BS commander (dread guristas, true sansha, dark blood etc) and overseer in 7,8,9,10/10 plexes, also from officer spawns.
AFAIK there is a tiny chance that you can get one from a normal ship - eg, Gila BPC from a normal guristas cruiser.

Looking back at what the OP said, Mag sites only really offer salvage, the chance of T2 salvage, and also rig BPC's. A good reference for exploration is here :- EVE Wiki Guide
