Is it normal for people to sell Tier II items on the market, at the same price, across all regions regardless of competition or demand...? Are t2 BPO owners so inept at market skills?
For example, I sometimes get away with buying t2 stuff from market hubs and selling them in other, less populated regions and making 10-20%. But every now and then someone will sell the same t2 thing at the usual market hub price (1-2%)... for no apparent reason other than it's what they are used too...
What do you think?

a) BPO's have little/no influence on the item's market-price
b) by selling for the "usual" price (production + x) you minimize the competition. you - as a trader - are not able to compete with the price this certain producer is selling for, so you can't outbid him and he spends less time on updating all his orders across several regions.
so yes, it's a reasonable action

I guess I'll never understand why some people, even when the market is high and/or there is little to no competition, still choose to sell at only 1-2%...

For the MD tears, of course.

When I had tech2 module BPOs I used to do it all the time. Drop off a stack in all the regional hubs and set a 90 day sell order. Sometime before 90 days were up I would go around and relist all the remaining stacks at a much lower price. It's called moving inventory. You might as well be the guy in the 7-11 wondering why the Wal-mart around the corner is always having sales. You work in retail. Learn the business. Don't whine to us.
Or buy one unit and contact the seller. Tell him you move a lot of the item and were wondering if he had a steady supply and how many units per month he could sell you in bulk (don't discuss price yet.) When he tells you the number, try to figure out how YOU would sell that many units month after month. If you think you can do it, I am pretty sure he will gladly sell you his whole inventory at below Jita sell prices.

Hmm interesting. But I'm pretty sure my competitor is Russian or doesn't care, because I've already contacted them about mutually selling the thing at 20-25%. But oh well, I can always undercut them, deal with making only 0.9% or just buy em out and sell for what I want anyway.
Was just curious about this trend with t2 things. Thanks for your inputs!

Time for some self reflection: if the normal price was Jita +20% and he would list at Jita +15% you wouldn't hesitate about undercutting him to +14%. However, if a producer undercuts to Jita margins the other (esp. non-producing) traders are more likely to let him sell his stack. In effect he is making a trade-off by avoiding 0.01 isk warfare but spending time shipping stuff to hubs.

Because very few people want to babysit their T2 items penny here penny there.
They can sell it 20% more but they can sell 5 of that item and make the same profit without babysitting. On the upside, sometimes buy orders pay high enough to just fill those and just insta make your isk.
there's countless ways to make a profit here in this game, countless, just find the one you like the most.
Good luck and we hope to hear good profit margins/news from you often.

ah Good news, The person agreed to sell the thing at the 25% margin. He actually expressed surprise of someone coming to agreement rather than undercutting.
But it'll only be in effect as long as we're the only two sellers, so it'll be fun while it lasts. She was worried selling at 25% would attract more competition. I said don't worry, almost everything sold in this region is a 25% mark up (or more) but very low turn over.
The joys of simply talking to your competition and agreeing on things... Now if only I get ALL the t2 manufacturers in a major trade hub to come together and raise the price 25% muahahahaha!

Can anyone explain to me why ppl in MD think that if they set the price to, lets say 2% when the item was selling 20%, they re not gonna get undercut? We ll always be there to undercut you darlings, especially the annoying bunch that thinks we wont undercut them due to reduced profits. Tbh you ll get undercut just for the heck of it, so maybe you should re-evaluate your theories and join the smart ppl who keep the profits at 20%.
