Edited by: LiSung on 13/08/2011 03:18:36 I've never used a locator agent, but I've had them used to hunt me during a war. I was wondering if someone could explain how they work. I'm getting conflicting information when I try to search for it.
What I've read is that a level 4 agent can provide your location no matter where you are. Even w-space. Even if you cross the galaxy and log off at a safe point, they know the system you logged off in and can be there when you come back.
If that's the case, how can I avoid being stalked all over empire? Is there no way to hide in this game? That doesn't seem very sandbox to me...
(edit: obviously I don't care for locators if this is indeed how they work. But I really am just asking to confirm how they work and find out if I can do something to avoid them, not trying to start an argument about them)

They freaking nerfed it (grumbles) .... it doesn't say what system you are in w-space anymore. It just says you are in w-space, but not the system.
But yes, lvl 4 agent and they will find you wherever you are in empire.

Actually they'll find you wherever you are in K-Space, not just empire. The same goes for L3 locators, they just take longer.

It's PurT Magic!
If you don't mind, I would like to steal the author's thunder and ask another a question.
When you get an in-game message from the locator agent concerning the whereabouts of the person you are looking for; you only get name of station and/or the system they are at.
However, If you use a Eve-Mon (or similar API using tool) you get the notification about the locator agent's message. That notification also contains the information about the ship that person is in at that moment.
My question is, If that information is available in the API, why is it not included in the in-game messages?
Thanks,
Mal
