Hello boys and girls! Well, I am in need of some ISK to fund my ehm... alternative lifestyle shall we say, hohoho (It's not a ho! You wouldn't believe the types of "people" out there trying to befriend me!) Anyways, so certain... opportunities... have arisen which I would like to take advantage of but I am sadly lacking the funds to do so.
Now I know what you're all thinking, why would I help a little girl?? But one day I'll grow up and then you'll be able to share in the profits in your old age gramps. Or something. The plan involves null sec, some other folks and a whole heap of sneakiness! Also some trading and manufacturing.
So I am looking for an angel! Now I know there are no real angels, despite what mommy said. You know it's strange she looks just like me only older and she keeps talking about bad clones but she's crazy like that. Anyways I am looking for an angel investor! Now I know in this day and age people are scared of getting scammed, so I do have some collateral. It's actually a Charon (in High Sec). It's big and shiney! I know it isn't worth exactly 1bn but most of it would be covered. Plus I have some bigger plans for it later on. After I moved my teddy bear collection out of it.
Now I'd be looking for someone well known and trusted to keep it clean and tidy while I am doing serious business, then they can give it back to me and I can give them their isk plus 5% (50m) on top next month or even sooner if things go well. I'm sure some smart marketing trading person can help me with all this Thank you! Gosh I'm so excited, this is as exciting as that time I went through low sec for 20 jumps trying to find pewpew but didn't find anything, except the big blob of meanies but they were hiding from me and then I went somewhere else and now I am here!
(Some smart guys will say I'm an alt, and I'll say yes I am. But then it wouldn't be so fun to use my more serious characters)

That was you?? How did you know I was trying to sell that carbon off again??
My Charon is real I can assure you but if it's a problem I could work with a slightly smaller amount I suppose.

I got voted 1/10 in the "rate my avatar" thread, but I knew they didn't know what they were talking about haha.
Well what could you offer? You can tell I'm not very experienced in this whole loans thing hence for ideas I don't want to sell it because I got it for a ehm big discount and I'd actually be losing money that way, plus I can make use of it right away soon as I get it back after this little job.

Since it isn't Collaterized for the full amount I wont give you the 5% intrest that are the minimum I would accept on a collaterized loan.
I could take it for 7% interest.
Just contract it to me and I will accept it and we both confirm the transaction here. Whenever you want I will contract it back to you for 1070 mio.
But around 30days is what I consider a reasonable time for a loan unless you intend to pay extra interest.
I dont know if you consider me well known or trusted, or if I can be said to be even in the proximity of an angel status on this forum (in that case I would look for Shar Tegral). But you atleast have an offer....

So basically you are going to build/buy stuff for relatively cheap in empire, and take them to null sec to sell at relatively inflated prices, and can offer a 700m ISK ship as collateral for a 1 billion ISK loan?
There are a few issues with this investment opportunity:
1) As you admitted, it is undercollaterized. While the collateral does reduce the amount of risk involved, As someone else mentioned in this thread, you could just be trying to "sell" your charon for above market value. Is there any particular reason why you need 1 billion ISK, and not the same amount of ISK that your collateral is worth?
2) Any investment involving 0.0 is rather dangerous, through no fault of your own. You could lose access to your station, run into a bubble camp, people could start buying at another station that you can't access, fleet compositions might change such that demand for your items plummets, etc...
3) Your business proposition is rather vague: I'm going to build stuff and sell it in 0.0? Can you get into any more details without divulging "trade secrets"? Are you working with an alliance to keep their station stocked with goods to sell? Is the station you are selling at player owned, or NPC owned?
4) Lack of an audit. While audits don't prevent scams, they can help investors make informed decisions, and can verify that you are, in fact, able to carry out your business plan.
I'm not actually interested in any investments right now, because I need my ISK for my own projects. However you might want to address some (not necessarily all) of the above issues above. For example, if your loan is 110% collaterized, nothing else matters so long as a trusted third party holds the collateral, or the investor. ----------

Thanks for the offer Tom! I may take you up on that. I do need the Charon back for some plans down the line but for now need the liquid ISK. The Charon is making its way to Jita as we speak so I could arrange transfer for tonight.
OK! So I will try to answer your questions Taedrin, seeing as how this is my first time

Weeeeell since you put it like that, yes I can see how that might make me out like a carbon traders but I have also been open to a smaller/similar to collateral value amount.

1 billion gives me a couple hundred million breathing room to use for some more tasks; like greasing some palms to get deliveries done which would cut down my personal time used and allow more productive use of time.

Yes this is very true. However, my other characters have access to a fairly large alliance and good friends with at least one corp director - not just a small one man corp either - who can pull strings and get, for example, jump freighter trips organized. My other characters have been in nullsec for just over a year and involved in everything from small roams to large blob fleets so I am well versed with how to navigate around and which stations are relatively safe and those that are not. As it happens the ones I have in mind can be considered main alliance ones so unlikely to go under any time soon.

I don't want to give too much away so yes it does sound vague. There is more than one station. I have more than one established character in null. I also have an independent trader and manufacturer, who is not subject to war decs.

This is a fair point and one I have no means to show currently without compromising my other characters I'd definitely get in trouble with one of them which I've no desire to do so. I also have links to some mercenary/pirate types which don't need airing. I may be litle but I'm not totally innocent
Well I hope this answers your questions Mister! Phew this is just like being back at school. Except without the pointy hat. Or maybe I still have to wear that I dunno. Anyways so I need to go put on my puppy dog eyes and pull some strings to make this happen so if I take up your offer Tom - or anyone else who wants to have a go - I'll get a contract up tonight or tomorrow morning if that is ok?

Hi Tom, I have put the contract up. The Charon is at Jita and I even cleaned the captain's sofa! If you see any hairs in the cargo bay they belong to teddy bears and definitely not slaves!
It's a bit higher cost than I hoped but I understand where people are coming from. All being well there will still be a good profit. I already made some small scale runs but now is the time to start something bigger so we'll be doing that and you should get your money back before 30 days OK??

I have already accepted the contract when posting this!
I am aware of the possibilities of this is being just an over priced sale! But the prices atm in Jita is that I can direct sell it for 800 Mio (not 700) so I am risking losing 200 Mio in order to earn 70.. Lets face it in here everyone and his mother can be a scammer and most likely will be if the price is right. But somewhere we have to draw a line, and I have drawn mine. Because where is MD heading if we cant even trust little girls? |

Sorry for the slightly late half way report. Things are going swimmingly! I have already made a return on investment buying and reselling items. I could have finished there but decided since I still have time to sink it back in to buy some materials and T1 items allowing me to make/sell some T2 stuff which will lead to a projected profit of about 700m more than step 1.
All being well this should still conclude in time but if it doesn't would it be acceptable to roll over to another month Tom? I will review the orders to see what the status is in a couple of weeks.

I will put up a contract to you around the 6 september for a 14 day duration, if you fail to accept it before then I will just assume you decided to roll the loan over. That way you get a few extra days without the need to quicksell or pay interest for an entire full month.
I dont mind running this bond for another month if that is what you prefer.

P'kawk! Pok! Pok! Pok! Such rosey cheeks lol
Thanks for great thread haha but the time has come to pay Tom back and get my itty bitty teddy boat back I quite haven't sold everything (yet) but am in the position to pay back now with a nice profit
I am thinking about expanding since this went a lot smoother than expected but I have to get out the calcumatron and work out some sums and also what I can offer for collateral next time. It will probably be with BPOs and other items because I need the Charon for some tasks in the meantime. Anyways I will make another thread about that after I have thought it through!
