The short answer is: it depends.
The long answer is: What are you trying to kill? Are you fitting beams or pulse lasers?
A brief summary of the crusader would be to say that, with only having 2 mid slots, you lose the ability to fit a web, so you have less control over range. However, with lasers (specifically scorch ammo for pulse) dictating range becomes less important than in blaster boats.
If you're planning on getting close to your target, you'll want an AB. Close means scram and scram means no mwd. Also, a good portion of ships will fit webs, so you'll need an AB to keep some mobility.
If you intend to use beam lasers and keep yourself out of scram range, MWD.

Either works well, the way you engage merely change, good damage in a tight package.
Personal favourite: AB/Rep/DLP Crusader, takes out AC Thrashers like they were nothing. Cheap, fun and effective .. everything a growing boy needs.
MWD fit has all but been obsoleted by the Slicer which can operates outside Loki boosted scram range (Loki's are the norm now). Does a great job at hunting down soft targets like Crows, Griffin/Kitsune, BB's and the like though.
PS: For gang tackling look to the Malediction, infinitely better at it thanks to the range bonus and +1 mid.

AB for scram, MWD for disruptor range, plain and simple unless its a slow ass ship then you pretty much always use mwd

can you share the full fit for the anti ac thrasher crusader? i dont understand why you say it is easy to kill it you use scorh and orbit at 8-9 km or close with faction multi? even with 200mm autocanons the thrasher has nice tracking not to meantion the armor fit than can use a web |

Webs are pretty rare as most fit TDs to counter the swarm of Slicers roaming around. Still doable even if trash pilot knows what he is doing but definitely harder.
4xDLPII AB/Scram SARII, DCU, ANPII, HSII Damage rigs.
As close as possible without losing too much speed, aim for a range of 1500m or so. PS: If you use the orbit command then be aware than his tracking can catch up if he starts moving manually. PPS: Against the much more common shield trash, carry conflagration for increased kill-speed
