Doral, Florida 4-4
Simply post the name of the closest city you live by that would be the equivalent of Jita 4-4.
As for my choice: Some people here in Miami-Dade County would argue that Downtown Miami would be the perfect equivalent, but City of Doral earned that title more due to the fact that it is not only a business district but also doubles as a warehouse district. It is a combination of small, medium, and large businesses that produce, ship and even trade commodities thousands (if not millions) of times per day. And it get's one of the most crapiest traffic ever known due to the mixed bag of regular cars and a **** load of semi-trucks.

Atlanta 4-4.
However, "the" Jita 4-4 would probably be the Port of Shanghai 4-4. "Since 2005, the Port of Shanghai has ... the title in terms of total cargo tonnage."

I'd be more inclined to think Singapore is the world's 4-4
here's part of the undock ramp
The thing that makes it the 4-4 is that unlike Shanghai, almost everything comes in by ship then immediately leaves by ship. Rather than coming in by truck/train and leaving by ship.
Quite simply put the port is the entire reason the city exists. Shanghai actually might have a reason for independent existence without it's port.

Going with this. They also sport a terrifying airport (although it's got some amazing amenities) to land at and take off from.

For the world... Have to agree with Singapore. For the US, Los Angeles / Long Beach, since they import and export more tonnage via water than any other port in the US.

thing is, Jita is more than a cargo shipping hub. it's also the retail hub of EVE, therefore city or port should also have a large retail component to qualify. largest market plus largest cargo hub = RL Jita.

For the Singapore v. Shanghai issue, it looks like the answer might be depends, but leaning towards Shanghai.
World Port Ranking (2009)
Total Cargo Volume: Shanghai: 505,715,000 metric tons Singapore: 472,300,000 metric tons
Container Traffic: Singapore: 25,866,600 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) Shanghai: 25,002,000 TEUs
In terms of total cargo, Shangai wins. In terms of containers, Singapore wins.
More data from American Associates of Port Authorities.
However, for 2011, it looks like Shanghai might outdo Singapore in container shipping too.
