So here I was, wondering, what is the best way to kill T3 if you are a gallente pilot? All blasters do Kin/Therm damage type, which all t3/2's has crazy resists to. I once went 1v1 with Myrm vs Legion that thought he was unscannable (all mediums ECCMs with no cap recharges). I had full rack 6 medium neuts and a pack of drones (valks). And I would have lost if i did not received a backup. Other day I ganked shield ishtar and couldn't break his tank. Ran out of cap boosters and had to run away.
And these were all pve fits that I couldn't kill. Only way I can think of is using Ishtar with drones to match resist hole, but i talked to some people and they told me that it can only kill fail fit t3's and even then it's a tough battle, plus that is throwing a lot of skills into all 4 faction drones, which is crazy training time.
So if any of you guys could share any tips and tricks, I would gladly hear them.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say, based on your account, the problem is about 18" from the screen. I literally can't fathom how you were unable (with a full rack of neuts) to shut down (lasers) or severely mitigate (HAMs) the DPS of a Legion. And if he was a PvE setup with all ECCM mids, how did you not break his tank?
Well, with that being said, most people use a mix of drones on the Myrm, 2 heavy, 2 medium, 1 light for maximum DPS within bandwidth constraints. So that is probably one issue. The other is probably more effective uses of the your highs. Double neuts, properly staggered (i.e. every 6 secs one hits) should be more than enough to drain a PvE active tank to uselessness. Use the remaining highs for addtional DPS.
Gallente are somewhat hamstrung in the ganking ratter's department of turret boats, being fixed in damage type, but that doesn't make them useless against T3s by a long shot. There was a recent PvP vid made of a Brutix killing a (not completely ****fit) Proteus. You don't need faction drones on a droneboat, but you do need good drone skills (especially interfacing to V and T2 heavies/sentries). Having an active tank works wonders as well, especially if you tank specifically for the rat's weakest resist; most ratting ships carry only ratting ammo and if you are sporting 90% resist to it, well, GG ratting boat.

A pretty major selling point of the Myrmidon is it's equal ability to fit whatever turrets you might fancy. Autocannons are probably the most common choice. A skilled pilot shows how it's done in a Myrmidon - victims: 2 T3s and a command ship

Change your drones. It is the one time when T2 Amarr drones are useful. Ganking heavily therm/kinetic tanked pve ships, excepting minmatar t2/3.
If they are specifically tanking kinetic/thermal then a proteus will have a big explosive hole (use minmatar drones) and smaller EM one, a legion will have an EM hole and a tengu will have an EM hole and smaller explosive one. And you can use Autocannons on a myrmidon for more damage specific ammo, you are not limited to blasters on it (it has no bonus to turrets).
PS - Shield Ishtar will generally be used for tanking kin/therm and will have 0% resistance to EM. Under any sort of decent EM damage it will crumble in in about 30 seconds, probably less. |

Edited by: Suiken-user on 16/08/2011 13:15:46 Thanks for the tips guys. I understand that projectiles is a nice thing, however i was mainly focusing on blasters. I got good gun skills and also nice drone skills (interfacing V) though only t1 heavies as I was more focusing on gunnery rather than drones.
To get back to topic.
My situation: I can fly BC/T2/T3. All ships have lvl4-5 skills. Blaster and t1 heavies limited only.
Now let's say I scan out a tengu in WH. What are my best bet to win 1v1 fight vs: 1. PVE fit. 2. PVP fit. Any hope here?
I'm all up for adventures, but always meeting ships with biggest resists to my damage type is kinda depressing lol.

It doesn't actually take all that long to get the racials up to IV - V is ridiculously long for a final 2% extra damage, but IV is quite manageable. *****

A rule of thumb an old friend gave me when I first started playing, "If it's worth training, it's worth training to level 4".

So, you're using explosive drones versus an Amarr T2/3 ship and you're wondering why you can't kill it. I can't think of a reason myself.
