lvl 4's are the chief reason.
They need to be alot harder, they are to possible to solo. Or decrease the rewards. __

Yay another inflation thread
I think I read somewhere that the devs are aware of this problem and are planning to do something about it. The solution would then be to introduce new money sinks which affects the rich people instead of the poor people. How they are going to do it I have no idea and have no bright ideas. From what I've read on this forum it will not be to nerf level 4 agents. __________ Capacitor research |

Leave it alone and let the isk and mineral economy temporize with one another.
NPCing, insurance, and trading related inflation is only a danger to npc runners, it won't affect miners that are responsive to changes in purchasing power. You think that insurance covers you more on tech1 battleships than tech2 ships. This ignores the amount of labor and minerals squandered by a battleship loss. The individual may not notice, and those ahead of the market adjustment may not notice, but eventually some part of the playerbase has to pay the piper.
Right now the miners bear most of the burden of supplying ships. Their lot won't change, but battleships are naturally going to require more and more npc labor to replace.
If you intercede in the system with isk sinks, which npc runners will want, then miners and people who hate what level 4 agents have done to their game will rightfully pitch a fit. Only the minority seems to like isk sinks so far, so it seems unlikely CCP will need or consider interfering. If they shrink npc payouts, theoretically, it should still take you the same number of hours to replace a battleship unless the miners go on strike or something.
I suggest a hands off approach for now.

I have to disagree. Inflation has gotten crazy lately and will get much worse unless something is done. Right now, it makes zero sense to hold ISK. Currency is the only thing in Eve that is devaluating significantly so it makes sense to turn ISK into materials as soon as you earn it. So you have people driven to spend their ISK on anything since they know it will be worth more tomorrow.
Either less ISK needs to be created or something else needs to be done to reward holding onto it.

I don't think it's rampantly out of control now, but prices are rising. A good way to control things will be with Dreadnaughts and Titans only being purchaseable from NPCs for a billion or two for Dreads, and a LOT more for Titans. That'll take a lot of money out of the game.
Plus labs and offices are doing a good job as is.

Actually market is crashing prices are getting lower every day, mainly because of lab and offices prices.
Do you have a particular example about something becoming more expensive?

BSes have gone up about 10-20mil in some cases. It's not bad, but it could get worse.

You know the funny thing about the rising BS prices? It isn't because of rising mineral prices. I was able to buy all the minerals necessary for a Raven for 109 mil. Considering one run BPCs go for about 4-5 mil, that is still pretty cheap. Probably because of the lack of BSes on the market. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Yes exactly, you can maintain high prices if you purchase the production, but this is quite risky. However people buy BSes 110M and sell back 120 to agent runners they make 10M each time. Simple market trick, but if producers keep on making stuff the smart guys will be left with tons of unsellable BSes.
For BC like Brutix prices are very low, under 29M now because it doesn't break so fast, the damn beast has an armor repair bonus lol.

Far too much isk is entering the economy from agent isk rewards and NPC bounties. I remember just after release CCP said that eve was a closed economy, in which case where has all the isk come from? Maybe only the minerals were a closed economy or concord has really deep pockets. :)
Maybe we need things like more agent informational services and the ability to advertise. Ways for players to pay isk to get non material goods that they value.

Is everyone an amateur economist then?
I'm sure the Devs are keeping an eye on market details quite a lot (it's probably THE most unique and best market feature in any MMPORG - I doubt they want to lose that) and will do something to rememdy any problems.

The Tech II prices are people gouging.
As for battleship prices, take a look at the 12 month price histories. Prices for ships tend to peak late winder, and dip late summer, and we're right at the cyclical high point. We have about a 8% inflation over last year's ship prices at this time of the year. Considering the speed at which things happen in this game, it's not a bad rate of inflation.
Though if people are really worried about Agent missions dumping to much isk into the economy, simply convert the agent rewards from raw isk and more towards components and materials. That would also stabilize Tech II prices a good bit.
As for the prices of meta-modules, that's mostly a supply and demand issue. Meta-module drops have been significantly reduced as of late, and people are more willing to use Meta-modules when NPCing than they typically are during PvP, and as such, the rise in lvl 4 missions has significantly increased the demand for meta-modules, at the same time that said meta-modules have dramatically reduced in supply.

The economy is working just fine. Inflation is not out of control, demand is rampant and their are not enough suppliers for the list of things that was posted previously. Alot of this was caused by the new trade skills.

I think an EVE with no agents and no npc bounties (but still loot) and POS's that were more like npc stations would be a pretty kick ass game. Oh and no highways as well. Sure there would be lots of mining, but there would also be more oppurtunities to bust up on a mining op, and battleships would be more special.

Casino's in stations
Buildeble NPC style stations (costing anywhere from 1-10 bill to build and taking weeks)
Fuel for our Ships
renteble Gates (in 0.0 will be able to deploy sentry guns after they are rented)
Crew (for our ships)
these would all help the inflation fast
Thank You Paw Sandberg

Inflation or demand?!? I think it is the latter. Lvl 4 mission are popping more battleships then were ever popped before! This leads to people buying battleships left and right. It takes a lot of time to collect all the minerals to build a battlship. A LOT OF TIME. Supply simply cannot keep up with demand. That is the reason for the increase, not inflation. That goes for ore too btw, that stuff goes into battleships. There are times I have seen ZERO megathrons for sale in my region. None. In this scenario what did you think would happen to price?!

Yes, that's also my personal experience, the market works just fine. Higher demand on items automatically increases the prices.
I don't think just because ppl have more money they spend it easier.
Just an example, there is high demand on the market in some areas for cargo extenders... not enough supply and instead of 250k they are 300k... I'm quiet happy the way it is...
... BTW remember the gold rush, not the ones who ran for gold got rich, instead it was the suppliers ;-)

There are examples of both that can be found in EO atm.. insanely high prices in some cases, while at the same time other items are falling in price at equally insane rates. Yes battleships etc are going up, but lvl 4 agents in the increase of popping ships isn't solely to blame... Many people I know of (on my main ofc ) were empire miners... now with no risk from players they've given it up to do lvl 4 agent missions.. so not only has supply gone down, but demand is at an all time high... normally this issue would balance itself out.. sky high prices would mean more people selling and reverting back to mining, but recently this doesn't seem to be the case at all. In addition to the prices of ships etc going up supply even of the simpliest things has also fallen... the Raven BPC, for example, previously always in supply vanished completely out of sale.. and now a few are back but at high prices...
But as is mentioned thoughout, there's also a rise in the amount of cash the average player seems to be carrying around nowadays.. not becuase everyone seems to be working their nuts off, but becuase cash is easier to come by. Soloing lvl 4 agent missions is incredibly profitable -- more so than mining.. so for the shortterm at least things don't look as if they'll be changing... The methods people now go about obtaining their cash seems also to have changed... It's now "let's just kill some more" rather than "I guess a couple of hours mining is needed", and the extra cash people have is making up for the severe losses bs pilots get when losing a bs now (i.e. bs cost is averaging at times at 130m market prices, 161m with full insurance, and pays back 108m approx upon death). I agree in my opinion that something needs to budge -- and not making empire mining more profitable. Lvl 4 agents need not to be nerf'd, but have their difficulty increased.. they were never meant to be solo'd and so shouldn't be able to be.. even by the best of the best pilots out there.
