I can run Lvl 4s now with 2 toons dualboxing and I am interested to know the best (fastest) way to do it. I tried these so far: Cruise Raven + Shield Rep Dominix Torp Golem + Shield Rep Dominix Pulse Abaddon + Armor Rep Dominix
I can link the fits, but the idea was to use some buffer + resists so the RR can do the job, and try and maximise DPS on the "DPS" BS. The Domi provides additional support with the drones.
Golem is fast (I'm using 2x Target Painters) but the short range offsets the high DPS, so not impresed.
Salvaging on the go is not required as I do it later with a Noctis. Ideally I should be able to aggro everything in any mission and be able to tank the incoming DPS.
I'm looking for a way to maximise the isk/hou in Lvl4s, and if you have averages please post them too! Thanks.

Hm...
Machariel and Machariel or Machariel and Nightmare or Nightmare and Nightmare Both with Auto Targeting System II With these babes, you won't even need a shield rep ship. Pop everything from within the warp-in. Enjoy and harvest the fruits of your labor.

None of the Command Ships are to be fitted for Remote Rep, right?
What I understand is I am better off with 2 DPS boats than 1 DPS + 1 remote rep.

Two guns is better than one. Think about that for a minute.

I know 2 > 1 ... but if you can't kill faster than the incoming DPS, even with 2 guns, you need tanking.
Anyway, point taken; anyone care to share the fits? I have an idea based on Battleclininc, but never flew a Mach or a Nightmare. My toons are skilled for them though.

Basic L4 Mach 4x Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer 3x Tracking Enhancer II
100MN Afterburner II Pith C-Type X-Large Shield Booster Heat Dissipation Field II Ballistic Deflection Field II Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800
7x 800mm Repeating Artillery II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma L Empty utility slot
[Rigs to taste, usually damage rigs, maybe safeguards?]
Garde II x4 Hobgoblin II x5
I've used a fit like this to start off with on L4's, excepting that I use rat-specific hardeners [You kind of have to, unless you want to put on some CN Invulns or something]. It kills everything before it gets close, so tanking generally is not needed. To be absolutely clear here, I typically only have to pulse the SB a couple of times and then the DPS dies down. I may use the cap booster in the hardest part of a few missions, such as 2nd/3rd room of WC if I really screw up aggro.
The whole thing about the two DPS ships is that nothing should be able to get close to you, and if it does, then it should not be able to stay alive for very long, and if it does, you pulse the SB while you blast it to ****, and you can still fall back on the cap booster. Now if I hardly ever use the capbooster, and can kill everything before it even starts on me, then two DPS ships should blow everything out of the water. The only problem is you have to micromanage targeting and shooting for both of the ships, and watch their cap/range/hp....
For T1, I used a mael before I used a Mach. Once I tried a mach, I never went back :P My mael fit was the same basic concept, as listed below. The main difference is the Mach has the awesome range to apply the DPS and a better low slot layout. Otherwise, they would be the same ship (duh) but the tactics and usage is the same.
L4 Mael 3x Gyrostabilizer II 2x Tracking Enhancer II
LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets X-Large Shield Booster II Non-Inertial Ballistic Screen Augmentation I Heat Dissipation Field II V-M15 Braced Multispectral Shield Matrix Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800
8x 800mm Repeating Artillery II, Phased Plasma L
[Rigs to taste, usually Ambits for range]

Edited by: Panch0Villa on 18/08/2011 00:45:36 And for T1 ships, I suppose I personally would use some passive tank ship to take aggro or something, and then I only really have to micromanage 1 ship. Handling the SB, cap, targeting, shooting, maneuvering, and all that really gets tiring... Perhaps a drone boat.... That would be the ticket! Tank and auto-spank (aggressive drones) while I just work on the other ship... Perhaps Domi/Mael? It all depends on how you like to roll.

Thanx for the response. I actually just ran a Lvl 4 with a Domi/Mael combo. Worked great. Clicking between the two was a bit of a pain, so I spent most of my time with the Mael. Sort of left the Domi to do whatever. Domi was cap stable with a drone nav and an omni in the mids. Mael was cap stable with a gyro and tracking in the lows. Warped in. Activated the tanks. Launched a bunch o drones. Locked on stuff and made a big mess o killinĘ Very fun. Training up more guns for the Domi and more drones for the Mael.

I just tank everything in my Dominix (pure droneboat) and have an alt in a Drake add some additional pewpew (she can't use battleships yet). No need for a repping BS, level 4s can be done solo and you're better off adding damage so you'll complete them faster (and you will have to tank less DPS with more stuff dead faster :)). . |

Pardon my question, but why would you want to dual box a lvl 4 ? Not trying to be elitist (I'm a faily new player), but if you have the skills to fly a Golem but don't like the range, you surely can fit a cruise navy Raven or even navy Scorp that would solo any lvl 4 just fine.
What about dualboxing 2 lvl 4s in the same time instead ?

Generally speaking, you're better off (even before counting the extra logistical time taken with your plan) to simply blast them away, mission by mission. You have so much DPS that neither ship really needs a tank, whereas if you split up, you will need to swap some damage for tank, which makes it extra slow, in comparison.
Field 2 highly skilled, RF fitted machs at an Angel's X and you can complete it, get back to base, hand in, and you still won't have gotten the wallet tick from the bounties yet -------

I'm using an HML Tengu orbiting at 7000 ish meters an autocannon Maelstrom. Works great The Tengu usually speed tank everything , and of course i change strategic patterns and flight style according to mission. It takes not much micromanaging once the tanking ship got everyone aggroing it, and it's quite fun. And since the battleship usually doesn't need to sustain much damage incoming, it's nice to fit it's mid slots with some utility modules that could optimize some circumstances ( target painter if not fitted on the t3, one more tracking computer, even a web, etc) See you

Edited by: grumpyguts1 on 18/08/2011 23:56:36 I played around with a tengu , plus torp Raven(t2 siege and mwd)/Maelstrom(arty and AC)/Abbadon(tachyons + 4 heat sinks) Just to get an idea of what I enjoyed best. The Tengu + Abbadon enjoyed most, so now use a Tengu + Nightmare combo and love it.
edit, couldn't use T2 mega pulses during the test hence the tachy's, but Nightmare is fitted with T2 mega pulses.

My Dominix has a great tank, but the Drone DPS (I have lights and meds at T2 but heavies and sentries at T1) is mediocre. So I bring my alt in for some additional pewpew untill I've cleared most of the room. Then I fly the alt back to grab my Noctis. I try to time it so that by the time I've killed the last rats I've also looted and salvaged all the wrecks. I find that gives me the best income/hour. I oftend get something like 12M or so from the loot and the salvage.
Also, my alt hardly has any proper tanking skills so it's more efficient to just focus on DPS there. . |

Anyone who uses drone or missile ship when he has possibility to use nightmares or machs is masochist.

Actually drone ships are good from the point of view of usability - setup a Domi/Rattler to tank and assign drones to the other ship (with the big guns/dps) then you have quite an easy way to control how you apply your damage. It's less efficient than having two pilots in machs true, but an easier introduction to running two pilots in PVE.
