I've been making graph about 2nd AUR reward progress: http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/1108/sharing-20110818.png
Next reward seems to unlock at about 15000 shares, and with linear progress that would be reached near 1st of september.

I hope it never reaches that. We don't want NoX shop and we don't want Aurum. How many times countless players have to repeat that until someone in CCP understands that? If i get one more Aurum gift that i never asked for nor want i will be seriously *****d off along with a lot of other people. Aggressive marketing will bring results. Just not the ones marketeers want to.

Alex,
Trust me, they understand it. They've just stop caring, therefore stopped listening to the majority. They're now listneing to CSM null carebears that want to dress up and play barbie dolls and ride sparkly ponies while their mindless bots rat and mine in their sov.

No need to be so pessimistic, I for one welcome our new golden overlords. Also I'm waiting for more synthetic implants, I already got one of my eye replaced, now I need limb prosthesis. I hate this ugly flesh and will spend over 9000 plexes to replace it.

Dusty Warrior,
I still hold hope they will start listening to players especially after so many left the game with CCPs "look at what we do not what we say" thing. Of course with time this hope fades away since nothing is done by CCP to correct their mistakes. They already got nearly empty Null sec and really boring Low. Even High sec some systems less active then they were just a few months ago.
High sec newbies will inevitably become vets and they will look for PvP. But where? If they'll have to fly 20 systems to find something then they will just become bored and switch game.
I think CCP got some management switch or something inside the company happened that they suddenly started to make very stupid decisions in way EVE develops, marketing and public relations. Sometimes they use so old and outdated tricks i can't stop wondering if they live on Earth or somewhere else.
I just hope they wake up before they do something totally idiotic and then final unsub event happens which will kill EVE as we know it completely.

Alex,
IMHO CCP has given EVE the last major expansion if you can even call Incarna an expansion. From the CSM minutes I see nothing of real relevance in the upcoming expansion.
I would venture to say once winter expansion hits, the largest number of "Bitter Vets" will have left or at the door step waiting to see. Personally I have a few weeks left with my accounts and like many, don't plan on renewing.
It is of my opinion that CCP is banking on WOD to be their next "Cash Cow" of which I personally feel is a fallacy in thinking. Why? I feel it's crave much like Pokemon was years ago and we see little if any of Pokemon now.
However, space has never been a fad. I think its reasonably safe to assume that in RL every kid, for that matter adult, has at one time or another stared toward the stars with wonder and awe. EVE... in some kind of crazy way, feeds that wonderment and awe factor for many of us rather we admit it or are even conscious of it.
Personally, I don't find WOD or DUST attracting anywhere near the players EVE is capable of attracting if they were to turn their focus back to fixing broken content and repairing the damage done to customer relations.
IMO It's time that CCP starts acting like a company and professionals they have proven to be years ago and not a fan club for the elitist.

To be fair. The idea of vampires isn't a "fad" the stories and fascination with them have been around for hundreds of years. If your talking about the "twilight" fad then yes, however if you even know what WoD was actually based off of its far from the twilight theme. Honestly I think that CCP has a higher chance of success with WoD then they do with Dust. That is if they continue to make it based off of V:TM theme and not break down and make it mainstream(aka twilight).

Valid point, but I still see WOD as being a fleeting fad.
Just the other day in my country, a young man was arrested for breaking into the home of a woman and biting her on the neck. He told the authorities he was a 500 year old vampire and needed to feed.
How many more incidents like this do you think it will take before the mainstream media condemns references to vampires to include MMOs.
Personally... If I were CCP, I'd be concerned with the possible liabilities. Let one idiot (described above) go out and kill one person and make reference to an MMO. You know it will happen! Some lone loser idiot will use WOD as an excuse as to why they bit someone on the neck. The media will go viral and the lawsuits will fly! Doesn't mean they'll win, they don't have to win to make someone lose.

To put that into perspective, WoD has been "just a fad" at least four times in the 20 years it has been out:
Once on its own, because it was just some silly new gameà Once more during the Ann Rice revival in the mid '90s after film version of Interview came out. Again during the late '90s/early '00s in connection to the Blade films. And now again in connection to Twilight/True Blood.
àand that's just being conservative. The V:TM TV series? Now that was a fad (until the lead actor died), but that was just an instance of someone making mint of the franchise, not of the franchise itself being a fad. It has been horribly tenacious. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

If it had run strong for 20 years I'd say "yes". But by your own post it's been a fad 4 times in the past 20 years. So... how long has EVE been going now? How many subs? 300K?
We'll see... personally I hope it's a success for CCP. I won't play it because I have no interest. Never cared anything about 500 year old bats as I already live with one. (Yes that was mean.)
Different strokes for different folks I guess. We'll need to wait and see how successful WoD will be, I just don't see it capable of holding an audience captive as long as EVE's been able to hold it's audience. Not continuos anyway.

No, it has been dismissed as a fad at least four times, and yet it has survived and is still here.
Quote: So... how long has EVE been going now? How many subs? 300K?
Just a fad.
Quote: We'll need to wait and see how successful WoD will be, I just don't see it capable of holding an audience captive as long as EVE's been able to hold it's audience. Not continuos anyway.
Depends on what audience they go after. Properly done, WoD will be pretty much indistinguishable from EVE in terms of core gameplay. As such, it can survive just as long. Hell, the local V:TM LARP in town has been going on for the lastà ohà 16 years or so. Catch that audience and you're money.
If they want to make it yet another PvE-fest and compete with the other PvE-fest with "with vampires" as the only selling point, then yes, they'll lose to WoW like everyone else. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Unless of course you are one of the ones who enjoy dressing up your avatar or paying to have access to certain items on top of the monthly subscription fees.
I would venture to say once winter expansion hits, the largest number of "Bitter Vets" will have already left or waiting at the door. Personally, I have a few weeks left with my accounts. I agree with every word of yours Dusty Warrior.
Personally I looked for other game to play in case CCP continues down the road they chose (MT, P2W, WiS more then FiS, etc). I found three games that interest me but only one of them on the market so far. Other two will be released this Autumn. So I guess I will wait for Winter expansion and if nothing changes with it, biomass and cancel. I see that many people wait for Winter expansion with same intentions.
The funny part of it that I'm not even a vet. I'm a noob with less then a year experience in EVE Online. But I came to this game not to walk in stations or buy some pixels for money. I came to fly spaceships and engage in open world which players influence.
