Why am I not surprised that CCP manage to drop the ball yet again?
The whole devblog could have been replaced with big SoonÖ sign.

Establishments ... sounds great.
But what does that actually mean? Are there any specifications, any planned functionality available yet?
I somehow miss the player base being involved. Look at how awesome Team BFF is doing their 0.0 crowdsourcing! I wish something like that would have been done or still would be done with Incarna/CQ/Establishments/NeX Store etc. ... so much wasted potential
Anyway, thumbs up for the update! |

Seriously guys - I too have been less than pleased with CCP's misguided understanding of their EVE player base. With that said though, don't spout curses at them like that and certainly have a little patience as long as the philosophical direction of their designs is correct. Getting all wrapped around the axle about date slips and non-balance details and treating them like this is akin to yelling at a gate agent who has no control over a flight's cancellation or delay due to weather or aircraft mechanical - somethings can't be helped or just don't work out. Deal with it - life isn't perfect.

Originally by: Jaari Val'Dara I'm interested if you are doing something to optimize CQ for lower end computers. As of now my laptop grinds hard to give me 10fps of that low quality character in a single room, while most current games run decently at least on lower settings.
This. New CQs, late or never, won't make a damn bit of difference to me if turning the whole feature off is still the best option.
Is there any new internet spaceships content even planned at this stage?

Originally by: Black Dranzer On the one hand, people are right in that this dev blog has no content, but on the other hand.. well, what the hell do you people want? (...) Don't just complain about how obnoxious CCP is, tell them what you'd prefer to be hearing about. If you just want results, well, results take time.
I agree (on one hand), however, (on the other hand) there's a very good example of telling CCP information they asked for, and how deleterious communication can be when a complete lack of response occurs.
Simply visit the "EVE Online: Incarna 1.0.1 Issues thread".
Started since 1.0.1's first update, CCP seems to have fizzled all communications (long before "holidays/vacations").
Most notable is the irony of a petition I filed (early July) presenting the need to keep to CCP's promise about being more "in communication" with its player base: ESPECIALLY WITHIN CHANNELS CCP DEVs CREATE (for important communication: i.e. ALL "Issues" and "Feedback" threads set up for each #'d versions and upgrades).
CCP Navigator responded to my petition in complete agreement (as he is Lead Community Representative for CCP) and assured me that he would "pass this along to those whom post and monitor their own threads..."
The ironic kicker: CCP Navigator is the author/poster and monitoring CCP DEV of "EVE Online: Incarna 1.0.1 Issues thread". And with posts of detailed, issue-error-documenting substance still being posting for months now, even CCP Navigator (the thread author) still hasn't responded with a single word.
Yes "results take time", but when patches are released, those of us who contribute substance (vs. jabbing one-liners) being asked to post to that same thread (still) about more errors/issues/bugs, yet they receive/see no responsive interaction (especially to questions posted), it's disenchanting.
What people need (not just want) to hear is a sense that their posts matter.
As I explained to CCP Navigator - which he said to me, via petition response, was logical and agreed with this conclusion: The longer you let a thread go without even a simple occasional response, such as, "We appreciate your continual reporting," "We are paying attention to this thread still - please keep your issues coming," or even a simple post stating: "We may not have all the answers yet, but all your posts are relevant, and we appreciate your time"... He agreed that, indeed, the longer there is an "apparent lack of CCP observation or response" will inevitably create a result of disinterest, frustration, and an overall sense of being ignored - which could quite possibly lead relevant posters (of substance, not whining) in feeling an apathetic "why bother posting... CCP doesn't care" thought process.
So yes, results take time, but silence for several months is not helping qwell the natural build-up of frustration while a thread (of relevant information being posted, such as what is mostly found in the still ever-growing "EVE Online: Incarna 1.0.1 Issues thread") which will continue to exist, accumulate, and lead to an apathetic feeling that nothing anyone posts of substance and help to CCP is being read by CCP.
Once CCP loses the few last remaining loyal, substance-oriented posting members of their customer base, they will be losing a good resource: a pool of multiple variations of platforms and device configurations that many in CCP may not have thought to test (or replicate) ...and, without these issue posts, petitions and bug reports, many small, unknowns may spell disaster in the future of this program.
...I do agree, however, a thread like this one here is nowhere nearly relevant in substance or meaning as the continual ISSUES and FEEDBACK threads specific to each new release/upgrade are.

Thanks for the attempt at an update. It's been very hard to know anything is going on really, other than, "ya, 2 people are in the office working on this."
Unfortunately, I have to say that it seems mostly like there's nothing to say, except "wait a week".
And, that's fine, I just wish we had more to speak of, such as the racial CQ's being launched and some update that the price of the NEX store is maybe actually being reviewed to some sense of rationality and not the CCP Monocleopoly philosophy.

I thought CCP had like 9 dev's total working on Eve, and everyone else was pushing out NEX goodies / Dust / WoD. So with only two of those 9 in office, how much can we really expect this patch to contain?
And keeping all that in mind, the contents of this Dev Blog seem pretty suitable. With one guy typing up the blog and the other guy doing all the work? yah, it's not going to be a very exciting patch.

Hey, at least they actually want to improve their game. If a game comes out buggy everybody says "You should have worked out the bugs! What a terrible company!" If a game takes too long to put out everyone says "You should have released it already! What a terrible company!"
..as far as I'm concerned, thanks for the update ccp.

I'm happy for CCP to spend time on fixing bugs, but that doesn't mean they can't talk a bit about it. Or to just show off a few screen shots of work in progress, anything that demonstrates where the time is going and explains why we can't play it yet.
There have been some really interesting dev blogs in the past about tracking down and fixing strange bugs. Thats good communication. This blog doesn't do that. Its not really about anything other than to give a date for the much delayed 1.1 patch (and its a long delay that was never really explained). The rest of it is just padding, and people are tired of seeing pointless padding to make a very small announcement seem like more than it is.

Go have a nice, long cry. I've seen 4 year olds more mature than you. The last 2 devblogs this week were awesome, and addressed the two hot topics of bots and 0.0 development.
By your logic, or lake thereof, you'd prefer one "content" devblog a week rather two content devblogs and an extra one.
Besides, if you have a developed reading ability, a big if in your case, you'd have noticed that we get the meaty part of Incarna later this year. Establishments. You know, actual player-interaction Incarna gameplay. Before ramming your face through a wall and crying some more, also note that the main theme of the next expansion will be 0.0.
So HTFU, learn that 2 is a bigger number than 1, and prove that you're more intelligent than carpet.

So this means we're not getting the racial CQs you promised we'd get on August 30 on August 30?
Go **** yourself CCP. Another broken promise.
We did not provide a date on when the racial CQs would be released outside of saying this summer. And please watch your tone. There are much better ways to voice your displeasure :D
Well the truth is that you did give us a date in a way, you said we would be getting the other races CQ before the end of the summer. You also said that the Door in CQ will be opening up this winter. Are you guys planning on just giving us the other races CQ this winter, and delaying the Door opening till the next summer? Because to me thats what I think you guys have decided to do. It was kind of point less to release just one race CQ. Its been like nearly 5yrs of this comming and it seems to be delayed more and more. BTW, I do suport you CCP, but you need to keep to the things your devs say in iterviews, or not give your Devs any more interveiws untill you have real dates, other then empty ideals.

Originally by: Colt Mitri Do you really expect interest in Incarna/Minmatar Captains Quarters to last until you release the other CQ's now? Or are most people going to have turned it off by then?
Bad call CCP, all four of the CQ's should have been ready to go before the deployement of Incarna, thats just common sense, especially considering how technically lackluster it is.
Also you didn't really make an attempt to answer any questions or quell any concerns, you didn't even mention the possibilities for the return of the hangar.
Very dissapointing, I think your time may be better spent on holiday to be frank, come back when you have rediscovered your passion for this work.
And next time someone decides it's a good idea to release an eagerly anticipated expansion just before you all go on holiday, tell them to take there holiday early.
I am really glad that post made it on the first page, well said, and it's pretty close to how I feel. Are people suppose to even be excited about the other CQ's? You tell me, can you guys even determine how many people have CQ turned off?
Watching AT IX you keep hearing MT, and devs like CCP Hammer studying other games MT models. What is CQ? It's suppose to be player housing! Did anyone actually look at other MMO's player housing mechanics? A static room is not player housing, it's an instance which is no different then some static interior of a structure in another game. The king of sandbox and you guys give us a static room and expect people to be excited your adding a few more static rooms. I guess those that applaud your efforts are probably still singing your praises over the innovation behind PI. The point, IMO, CQ should have never been released in it's current condition. It looks like you guys had two goals with CQ, get us out of the ship and NEX and at no time no one thought, "is this fun?". Worse part, you actually TOOK functionality away by trashing the ship hanger.
Watching CCP lately is really pretty sad, it's like watching a good friend on a self destructive course. You try to tell him to stop but in the end off the cliff they go anyway. I really hope your other development projects pan out because this one feels like it's sinking.
