I absolutely love EVE Online but recently my ******* parents installed a program called net nanny onto my laptop to monitor how long I can play and now when i try to launch eve i also get the message CCP Exe file has stopped working and it shuts down. it had never done that before and my parents refuse to belive its the programs fault because theyre kinda *******s.. anyone have any suggestions on how to get past this net nanny program or if it may not be net nanny how can i fix it.

End the processes using task manager? Delete the .exe itself, possibly by using Unlocker? Delete some of Net Nanny's required .inis, .dlls and whatnot? Make another super-secret user account, for EVE? Use your anti-virus to quarantine Net Nanny?
Those are just some uneducated guesses of mine. I recommend you run a few Google searches.

best way of getting rid of it without them knowing is to uninstall the program wile your computer is not on the internet, and remove the registry files. also you can block the programs access to the internet.
also it seems that it works under the program "Wnldr32" you open up your task manager find the program and "end task" it, or "end process" if it stays turned off after about 30 secs it will be off until you restart your computer. if your parents look they will not be able to tell that you disabled it.
but on that note, if they went through the bother of installing this program they did it for your benefit. your 16, spend more time doing homework hanging out with friends or getting a girlfriend. eve should be about 2 hours of your life a week at that age, and you will have a better chance of enjoying your younger years, once you have to work for a living and have bills and all that stuff and cant have fun everyday then play eve, because you are in the best part of your life.

Don't know about where you live. Where I live 16 is the age of consent. Meaning at 16 years old I told my parents I was moving out and there wasn't a bloody thing they could do about it. So I left, they did absolutely nothing.
Not to mention for all the idiots who thing at 16 you are still a "child". At 17 I was able to join the Army and sent off into battle. And your parents are worried about EVE?

Having a "nanny" program seems like something that would be used on kids 8-14. At 16 you SHOULD be mature enough to be able to judge your priorities when it comes to schoolwork, gaming, social life. In your shoes I would be more worried about the fact my parents are acting like I'm 12, more so then I would about not being able to play Eve.

Where i live the age of consent is 17 and I manage my time okay, i mean i make A B honor roll. the problem is im an only child so theyre incredibly overprotective. when i tried to make friends they wouldnt let me leave the house because they didnt know the parents well enough theyd say. so i switched to video games and i love EVE's social envirment and most of my best friends are people I've known for years on EVE and PSN (play station network for those who dont play playstation).

This is a known issue with NetNanny and EVE. There is even a thread, well single post, with a workaround in the issues board.
Thread here
If you can't add the files like it says to, just ask your parents to do it for you. They can also see the thread for themselves to verify, if they feel the need.

Yes, but parent who is over 13 can make account for their child of any age, but in that case parent can't play on that account only the child (this is said in EULA)
edit: fixed

You can use TrueCrypt with full disk encryption and install a second OS in a encrypted partition, and use that for playing eve. Plausible deniability WTF!.

And actually this isn't even true.. If your talking about account sharing that is. Since CCP can't detect whos actually at the computer playing, account sharing within a household is not against the EULA.

start having an affair with your real nanny , or grab some of her panties and leave them in your bathroom or something...then your parents will be glad that you are playing even rather than playing with your nanny so they'll fire both the net nanny and the real nanny.
you win! (well unless you've already been having an affair with your real nanny and you need to lose that to gain eve)

First off, you kinda' have to listen to your parents to some degree whether you like it or not. But that doesn't mean you have to show blind obedience, just a decent degree of not acting like a spoiled brat.
Going behind their back by trying to slip past their lame control software will just reinforce their notion that you "need" to be supervised. And they would have a good reason for that.
Anyway, if they don't realize you bypassed netnanny but they catch you with EVE working after you complained that EVE would not work because of netnanny (and they WILL catch you playing EVE, and they WILL recognize it) they'll call you a liar and trust you even less. Which is almost just as bad.
The solution is to reason with them. They might look like thickheaded bastards to you, but you don't want to know how YOU look like to them. Ask them NICELY to TEST-uninstall the "net nanny" on your machine and see if EVE starts working or not (and if not, there's another problem which you need to solve - however, it's a known problem as linked above by somebody else, so that should mean you will instantly be "vindicated") OR at least to copy over EVE on a non-netnanny machine, test that it works there first, install netnanny, see if EVE breaks because of it (and this way you ALSO get proof you were right).
That's the "adult way" to handle this. Prove to them that their software is causing EVE to crash, then also show them that thread, ask them nicely to apply that fix. They won't like it much, but they might just do it, if you convinced them already it's the software's fault, and didn't anger them in any other ways. Yup, acting like an adult can be ugly. But you'll have to get there eventually anyway, so might as well start now. People you'll have to deal don't have to like you unconditionally, like your parents.

Indeed.
How dare some parents who are concerned about their childs use of time install a monitoring program to see if his internet and gaming habits are getting in the way of his education and future path to becoming a responsible adult!

Glad you got it sorted out, my parents never used that sort of software, of curse I was, and still am, the most technically competent in the household so they'd of listened if I said that was the problem. Best bet for the future is to build up a reputation of knowing what your doing with computers so that if it happens again they'll believe you this time. ---- --- ---

LOL netnanny, first time I hear of this. It's almost like being charged with a thought crime. If I had a keylogger or spyware on my computer I would use any and every technique available at my disposal to remove it. Wouldn't a fresh install work?
I'm not trying to sound condescending but would recommend getting a job and buying your own laptop. The key is to not let your parents know you have it. I don't know them but they may be ignorant enough to think they're entitled to install crap on your own property or monitor your usage for that matter. You should still use your parents laptop but only within the confines of their regulations.
Just before you move out get a washable marker and draw a big swastika on a living room wall. If they're going to act like fascists you might as well decorate the place so they know it.

pretty sure u can in the process, or u could uninstall it when ur not on the internet the best thing u can do it delete the files, but leave any shortcuts or simple things on it, if they ask what happened be like " must have been a virus cause (insert virus protection) blocked it Eve online next expansion details |
