Quote: Kaylana Syi 1) The Armageddon is just stupid good with the RoF bonus making DoT insane with the addition of heatsinks and better than normal with a semi-tank-gank setup.
The only reason this makes the Armageddon better is the fact that you can still fit 8 damage mods on it. The ship itself is no where near overpowering if you fit just one and try to use them.
Quote: The only actual problem most people have with the megapulse revolves around Armageddons.
No, the problem people have is dying too fast, no matter the situation or ship and weapon, and this again I believe still relates to multiple damage modules stacking together.
I beileve it is the multiple damage mods that really is the issue, just massively highlighted by this ship being able to fit eight of them. It was the damage mod when the Tempest was the Gank-king 2k+ hit per wreck, and every ship prior to that that was the gank 4-teh-win junk for each previous call for nerfs of a lot of areas. Try the ship and pulse lasers with no damage mods on your ship against the others first.
I still think its the multiple Damage mods being fitted to any one vessel that is gank/HP/durability related that has brought up the review and increases in ship HP's anyway. Make them like speed modules, only a certain number can be fitted, full-stop. Then try it again, and I doubt you will consider it overpowered.
The ship RoF bonus has always been there and a pretty fair bonus I have always thought through long time use of the vessel.
Quote: 1618 Patch Notes: # Pulse Lasers have been given increases in damage and in optimal range. These turrets should now be a very viable option for Laser users.
This change happened quite a long time ago because everyone was using mega beams, and next to no one using pulse lasers.
Ok so that made them more attractive, but I don't think it is that huge. Try removing those changes first, and restoring it to the state it was previously, then check what else might need tweaking. Yes the tracking is a little high currently, but that was probably due to its original shorter optimal range, when it was half that of beam lasers.
I do think its time to start thinking of adjusting seperate module classes (small / medium / large) without affecting all each time. I agree the impacts in the areas other then that of battleships may be more then currently believed. Just changing because each is a mutiple of the lower level module really isn't a good assumption anymore, there is sufficient distinction between vessel/weapon sizes now.
