When you log the ship stills performs the 1mil km warp (not if tackled ofc). But will stay there till you log in again. To not lose you ship all the time it will go inactive after the usual times (1min or after aggro expires) and gets removed from d-scan and can't be probed out. So not much different till now. Only that your ship doesn't disappear after you pulled a logoffski.
Caps behave different though. Capital ships are still removed from d-scan but can be probed out. The same for super capitals but they also appear on d-scan.
Thoughts?

How exactly does this add any value to the game, aside from allowing people to gank caps and supers after they log off? How does this affect wormholes? If someone logs off at their pos in their carrier, odds are they don't want to leave it floating there. Do you see the pilot in the ship or is the ship showing as empty? If it's empty, what's to stop someone else boarding it? If the pilot's in it, he's not really logged off, could get bumped out of the shields and have his ship blown and himself podded.
Old saying from my Navy days... if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

much like its already currently, the pilot is always in ship even after logout.

yes, consequently, he can be podded

As if a non-played ship is as a risk for the pilot shooting at it but they will counter with "But he risked by undocking, therefor its mine!", had 2 mins to probe and find it out, or 15 minutes if the pilot shot back. Cannot have everything in life, bring more alpha next time.
betting we will soon get another self destruct whine that 2 minutes isn't enough. Hate hearing about people whine "But I saw it, locked it, F-key weapons, and didn't get the kill! KHHHAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!". You get the chance at it, doesn't mean you will always get the killmail reward, be that someone self destructs or logs off.

At first I thought that it's kinda odd that ships disappear into nothing. You can call it immersion breaking if you like. So why shouldn't they stay in space?
Logging out at a POS is ofcourse a special case. Maybe ships should be stored in an extra hangar.
And for ganking super capitals. Lets look at it from that side: if you can't defend them you can't own them.

So you are saying you should be logged in 23.5/7 as well as your corpmates?
Makes a lot of sense since most of the playerbase has these things called jobs, family, and school
Now I suppose if you are a 30 something year old who still lives with his mommy, then yes you would be able to do this. However the majority of players have a life.

I guess people need to stay logged in all day to defend their POSes, too?

OK... now you're being ... well, it's not worth being insulting, sorry.
However, people have lives. It's unrealistic to expect someone to be logged in 24/7 to protect and pilot their ship. Besides, it's a horrible idea that we all know fully well would never be implemented, so we should let this thread die a slow, lonely death in the bowels of obscurity.

I don't know why you think you need to apologize for having good manners.
Anyway, I don't meant that they are piloted all the time. Just tie them to a tower and be happy.

well, at least this would give stations any meaning again. Nowadays, it doesnt matter if you log in space or dock.

The game is called Eve Online. Not "Immersion-Online".
If you can't gank it while its online, then you don't deserve to gank it while its offline.
As for your POS comment. People can't fly a POS. I don't have spaceship command skills for it.
Second life is that way ->

I have yet to hear a reasonable argument against my idea. Most of the poster in here are just hater. And why should it be game-destroying to park your super cap at a POS?

cause they can be bumped. And bumped, and accidentally bumped some more, until they're outside of said POS. ---

Can you imagine that the ship becomes unbumpable (that's not a word, but who cares) when the pilot logs?
The point of this idea is that you would actually need a safe haven for your (super) cap fleet.

I POS has defenses that will automatically engage even if no one is online. Will a ship that is logged out do that as well?

If it can't be bumped and it's inside a POS, whats the point? Even if the POS gets attacked it will still be safe for up to 1 day 17 hrs in reinforced so that the when the pilot logs on he just cynos out of the system.
Quote: The point of this idea is that you would actually need a safe haven for your (super) cap fleet.
So park you cap/super cap ship inside a POS, and it becomes immune to attack and can't be bumped. Hell it's actually safer than having it warp away and vanish since it won't be vulnerable to being scanned out and tackled while it is automatically warping back when the pilot logs on.
Actually I do like your idea since it is safer than the current ewarp mechanics.

True. But you need to find a new place to hide/park it. I see a problem if the pilot of the cap is not available to fly it out. Would suck to lose ships while being on vacation. Maybe this ships should be owned by the corp/alliance and everyone with the right roles can fly them. (Some theft protection should be in place of course.)

I'm pretty sure that alliances that can field a supercap have more than 1 POS.
The only problem would be when on a war ops. It would take several jumps back to "safe" space before the pilot can log out.
Again, this is back to the fact that most players in EVE have jobs, school, families, ect... They might not be able to hang around 30 minutes while cynos are lit to jump halfway across the universe.
EVE is a game, not a freaking job.
If you are old enough to know what a child is, then you would understand my point exactly. You can't just make them wait a few more minutes while you park your "internet spaceships is serious business" ship. Sometimes you have to go NOW!! Unless of course you are a worthless piece of **** who would value an online game over a child.

Make it so that supercaps can only logg off at safe spots like POS. Logg off occurs as normal then. Logging off as a cheap trick to avoid deatruction? Tough - you're not going anywhere.
This would be a practical solution to supercaps doing the loggoffski. It would also make it a bit more of a decision before hotdropping them.
