Maybe they'll give us more aurum to compensate us for the trouble of bug testing this rapidly degrading client.
Woo.
Seriously sad CCP - Just really really sad. I'm normally a fanboi when it comes to programmers and understanding bugs slipping in... it happens to me too. But damn guys... when ship changing is THE visible public relations feature that you're releasing, make sure that **** works!

Eve is complicated. Massively so. When patches are applied, it is actually pretty unreasonable to whine at inevitable unforeseen glitches, extra extended downtimes, early stability problems etc.
But this is quite remarkable. A well known issue, which was plainly going to cause players grief, and which there has been plenty of time to sort out. And it is simply ignored.
Its not a game breaker- sure. But it is serious. If you are camped in a station, undock to join and ongoing battle, or to make a run for it whilst the bad guys are distracted, and you suddenly realise your MWD has gone off line and your tank is nerfed....
Thats putting aside the obvious irritation factor to tens of thousands of players. And putting aside the fact that just docking and changing ships has become more hassle, and more click intensive than it was previously.
Utterly stupid, and disdainful of paying customers.

Mehh, off-line modules... how important can that be in a internet spaceships game ...
Way more important:
Haven't you seen the super-duper-retro-style pure awesomesauce new links in your mission briefings? I am glad a dev spend some time on those.

I wonderà
àwhen are they going to let the "no sec level check for bombs/dictor spheres" bug slip throught to TQ? Because that was a really fun one. |

I too wonder.....
I seem to recall the recent Jita "shoot the monument" exhibition raised some attention to CCP.......
Only now, if you're going to do that again, please make sure your modules are online.....

Hey, don't miss that: CCP Tuxford claims that there was a horde of bugs that caused that offline issue, and they hunted everyone dead just to have a new one slip into the final build. That should be fixed now, and so and so.
Nice, but you only got one reputation to tarnish, so beware of using that apology again.

I was looking over the various defects and bug reports earlier myself (I even understood some of the words!). Basically there wasn't A bug causing stuff to go offline but many different ones that looked and felt similar to the players experiencing them.
But Tuxford's thread about the issues is a better source of information than I could ever be.

Originally by: Taleris Kline The reason this bug may have gotten through while being a known issue is that in a lot of software development there are multiple categories of bugs. Some bugs are show stoppers, this includes crashing right after booting up, erasing hard drives, etc. Some bugs can be classified as annoyances such as having to check your fittings and online modules before undocking. While an annoyance if not caught until undocked, it probably was not considered a show stopper.
While it is unfortunate to see any bugs get released, these are typically management decisions about what bugs can get through and what must be fixed prior to a release.

Well I personally buy that explanation. Makes sense and is coherent with how fast has come the fix. But regretfully CCP as a company is not in a good position to claim innocence when a feature is delivered broken and then nobody ever cares of fixing it.

The other ships won't warp to the mission location and for some reason I can't open the mission briefing in the journal while out of the station in a different ship. If I redock and change back to the original mission ship then undock again I can both open the journal and warp to the mission. Not good
Interesting... so it's not just me. I was rather exhausted last night when this happened but restarting the client fixed it...
However... odd that switching ships would break the mission interface (!) - iirc it also does not allow you to talk to your agent through your journal.
Running the rest of this epic arc is going to be a blast!

If that is so... why did it happen less than two hours ago? (On a gallente epic arc mission though)

Why even have SiSi?
Shut it down, save some power.. Hire MORE QC guys because clearly it takes more QC guys to screw in the light bulb then you already have.
On the plus side.. you now have a "feature" to list in yet another client patch I'll have to pause to download next time I play because you could not get it right the first or second time.
Patch notes: Feature - Ships no longer need to be re-docked to online modules that have mysteriously gone off line when changing ships. We have added a session timer to ship changes to make ship changes faster then they where before.
See how that works? Feels like that's kind of stuff you monkeys have been doing for the last few years.
*sigh*

Rarely do I even bother responding to these kind of threads because little to nothing ever results from them however in this case I will pitch in my $.02.
What the heck is going on there in Iceland other then massive alcohol and drug ingestion?
Bugs are a fact of life in software development but as any good programmer knows beta and bug testing IS important.
How could something like this make it in a production release? Whoever is in charge of this department should be drawn and quartered. Get some competent people in there who will actually take their jobs seriously.
CCP wonders why they are the laughing stock of the MMO world and are losing customers like rats off a sinking ship. This is one of WAY too many blunders in recent months to even list or count.
To be blunt and concise CCP needs to get their head out of the bankers ass and focus on releasing QUALITY expansions that have at least passed a 2nd grade assessment and testing. DON'T let mismanagement and delusions of incompetent employees prevent you from focusing on you roots (The Playerbase).
If your not even going to listen to bug reports/player suggestions then don't bother insulting us by asking for it.
