I don't actually remember CCP saying anything about atmospheric flight. There was a video made years ago that was believed to be made by CCP but wasn't. Plus atmospheric flight wouldn't even really work with Eve and the way you control your ship. Eve is based off of a point to point system not a manual flight which would make atmospheric flight pointless.

I would have liked to see an atmospheric flight component, dog fighting twitch-based with joystick for something new and different from the space game. You can fly in Wow you know. No lag. However like I said I don't believe it was actually promised to be implemented or talked about really in depth. Again this was 5 years ago so memory isn't that good.

The video I posted is of an MMO in development by an entirely different company. So far the site only has had tech demos and it's probably a small team because the news updates are rare. Still, it's amazing that a couple of guys can come up with the technology without the aid of a multi-million dollar revenue company.

Infinity is actually the side project of 1 man and some volunteers. Its been in development for years now and even is considered vaporware to most.
