Would anyone like to see a gunnery skill that does something like: -5% to weapon signature resolution or something like that. It could be a change to surgical strike, or a new skill (precision gunnery?)
The effect would be to increase damage, but it would favor large guns shooting at smaller targets more than small guns shooting at large targets.
Missiles have a skill that increases their effectiveness against small targets, why don't guns?

That would make the guns slightly overpowered, everyone would be rolling with the biggest guns and that skill at 5.
Anything smaller would be obsolete.

Well, as I see it, it would basically add a "free" (after the initial skillpoint investment) target painter effect for guns.
1 target painter doesn't exactly make or break large guns vs smaller ships - you'll note that in Incursions that webbers are much more desirable than TPs.
It would make a thoroughly webbed target more vulnerable, but its not like 1200mm artillery is going to be taking out frigs orbiting at 1000 meters.
The big guns would still have horrible tracking, and would still have sig resolutions way larger than that non-BS ships.
I just don't see battleships as having all that much love - Aside from doing lvl 4s which have only a handful of frigs that drones can take care of, or incursions because you need a great tank (even in that case, its basically Pirate faction BS, and then T2 command ships and T3)
I didn't think a skill that drops gun sig resolution from 400 to 300 at lvl V would be that OPd. Maybe a 2% bonus per level? maybe only for T2 guns?

The entire game is designed around the guns being as they are right now. If you bring in a skill like that, guns will become too powerful. It's really that simple. You can't go buffing things for no reason. --- Drykor - AHARM |
