Amaki Mai wrote:It's interesting that you suggest that they may actually have gotten what they wanted and were claiming not to have done so as misinformation. That would explain the 'scorched earth' destruction of the genesis vault, since it will now be almost impossible to tell what was removed from there, if anything. They were using open comms to keep in touch with their own Capsuleer forces in the system. They clearly stated that they were jamming local communications. The most secure communications systems in the cluster are CONCORD capsuleer fluid routers, and even when local communications are jammed, fluid routers still (brilliantly, I might add) work.
If I were in charge of the Op, I wouldn't have had unencoded messages broadcasting for every capsuleer in-system to hear.
I remember once that a... friend... called the badges and ribbons he had received from military service "salad", and another friend called his "fruit salad" because of all the different colors.
So, it's quite likely that they were indeed successful. I could simply be reading more into the operation than there really is. CONCORD asking for help in figuring out any hidden messages in communications between two pirate leaders is indicative of a potential pattern, non? |

I love how they raid a vault, claim they found no tech, but are taking home so much salad. Back when I had a family, my favourite use for hydroponics was growing "organic tomatoes". Given the biotech that goes into the voluval tattoo, why would anyone think that advanced Matari technology would be made of shiny metal?
Native Freshfood. Joint Harvesting. Numbed gardeners. That's some good ****, mon. I hope that salad doesn't end up killing anyone.
It's a shame I missed the excitement.

There was also a joke I heard once. "Never drink the water at an Amarrian work retreat." It might not be the plants, but something the plants grow in. Soil, water, anything. More than one way to leverage a star system from a fearful populace, or one "numbed" into submission.
Come to think of it, you could be seeing things the other way around; what if the facility itself had been compromised prior to the attack? Perhaps a chemical agent meant to pacify the "gardeners and researchers"?
See, lots of possibilities and a tragic lack of information to validate any single one. |

I believe "local communications" in this situation implies that they were jamming the vault security officers comm systems rather than the entire star system's local comms. Thus the effect likely extended not much further than the vault facility. This would have helped give their ground operatives increased freedom of movement as well as the element of surprise.
Mara Rinn wrote:why would anyone think that advanced Matari technology would be made of shiny metal? Mind altering herbs aside, I believe you're on to something here, the "advanced tech" they were looking for may have been some form of genetically engineered plant life... or, perhaps, a sample which shows the process used to do the genetic engineering. Thus, the reference to bringing home "salad" may have been meant quite literally. |

It sounds like the Angels might be going after this vault on Bogelek II next - perhaps a defensive screen should be set up close by. |

I agree on this. I'm in the process of getting some assets into the area to assist as fast as possible, should it get attacked. After seeing the cameradrone-feed of the Talos pilot, i'm certain that we need to have an organisation of those who are willing to defend said site should it come under attack. Because Angel supportive capsuleers or pirate capsuleers will be present i believe.
I am willing to start getting things organised or assist in it's organisation. Please contact me if there something simular is already being done. |

Angel Cartel Launch Ground Assault on Civilian Agriculture Facility
September 28th, YC114 Originally published on Tech 4 News.
In a tragic turn of events, the intercepted communication recently published by Tech4 News was revealed to be a chilling forewarning of a ground assault by Angel Cartel forces on civilian facilities owned by Native Freshfood. Reports from capsuleer networks are still being gathered, but the number of casualties at the Tialdshad Genesis Vaults on Oddelulf III in Molden Heath is said to exceed 1000. Had capsuleers not responded to intercept Angel Cartel orbital support, the death toll may have been much higher.
Local emergency aid networks are mobilising to offer assistance, but the Matar Society for Natural Preservation GÇô the organisation overseeing the Genesis Vault project GÇô are said to be guarded about allowing aid workers onto the site. The purpose of the attack is unclear and evidence gleaned from sophisticated capsuleer comms equipment suggests that the assailing forces may not even have known their objective.
On the GALNET Intergalactic Summit communications service favoured by capsuleers, Akrasjel Lanate shared this intercepted conversation between the Angel Cartel operative responsible for the previously leaked information.
Quote:[16:55:48] Erdrin Sostold > What Domination wants to do with this is beyond me [16:56:13] Haltz Krisbrid > You and me both, brother [16:56:26] Erdrin Sostold > None of this looks like it doesnGÇÖt belong here [16:56:30] Erdrin Sostold > If they were hiding anything [16:56:35] Erdrin Sostold > weGÇÖve either got it already [16:56:39] Erdrin Sostold > or weGÇÖre damn unlikely to find it
This clearly suggests that the operatives were operating under orders from the Dominations, the command level upper heirarchy of the Angel Cartel. It also suggests that the attack either failed to secure their objective, or there is more occurring of which even these individuals were unaware.
Speculation is abound and fears are mounting that further attacks could occur at other sites. Gunger Anra, foreman of the Matar Society for Natural Preservation has declined to comment on any potential threat to their largest remaining Vault site on Bogelek II.
Tech4 has also received further communications from a number of anonymous and capsuleer sources.
The following questions were transmitted direct to the Tech4 GALNET site:
Quote:Why would an agricultural company whose mission is to re-establish Minmatar food and cuisine buy only Frozen Food and Superconductors?
Why would an agricultural company be mostly anonymously owned (55% of shareholders are unknown or anonymous)?
And the following sequence of communications were obtained by a capsuleer passing through the Placid region:
Quote:Almost Showtime From: Sent: XXXXX To:
You ready for another serving of salad man?
Re: Almost Showtime From: Sent: XXXXX To:
Hell yes. Those slugs wonGÇÖt know what hit em. Lock and load.
Re: Re: Almost Showtime From: Sent: XXXXX To:
Just remember, the capsuleers are onto us. We need to work faster then we did fighting the savages. The slugs are more organized, and the capsuleers are gonna be looking for us.
Re: Re: Re: Almost Showtime From: Sent: XXXXX To:
Yeah, damn podders, sticking there nose into other folks business. Alright, IGÇÖll go over the team protocols, make sure we donGÇÖt have any more delays. Wanna meet up at Cascades afterward the raid?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Showtime From: Sent: XXXXX To:
Definitely man. IGÇÖve been craving BatereGÇÖs cooking for ages.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Almost Showtime From: Sent: XXXXX To:
Sweet, IGÇÖll meet you there after the op. Those research slugs have got no idea whatGÇÖs about to drop on them. Bang! bang! bang! Surprise! YouGÇÖre dead. Ha!
To further add to the mounting tensions, renowned capsuleer freedom fighting organisation, UshraGÇÖKhan, are thought to be mobilising in response to the Oddelulf attacks which is causing increasingly aggressive sabre-rattling from opposing factions.
Clearly events are picking up pace and Tech4 only hopes that innocent civilians will not be caught in the crossfire.

Hmm, fighting Angel Cartel for a change will make me happier. I enjoyed dealing and doing business against the Sansha forces, but now that we get to fight a force of a different caliber...This should prove interesting in the possible long run from what it seems. This also includes that there will be more mounting attacks if they went off with this much easy isk. |

Brawyn78 wrote:Ugleb wrote:A Cartel attack on a major Minmatar Corporation? We haven't seen anything like this since the Skarkon incident... It looks pretty clear from those intercepts that the Angel's were not merely after hydroponics equipment. Native Freshfood are not known for their radical R&D projects, so unless the Cartel are suddenly desperate to boost their hydroponics yields then NF may have some explaining to do.
But not half as much as the Cartel themselves. What will the Shakor government have to say I wonder? I wonder if some of that ancient Jovian tech led them to believe a raid on a Matari Installation was needed?
There is a rather obvious common theme. Ancient Jove tech, ancient Minmatar plants... ancient. In an era where our highest technology comes from exterminating ancient people, it tends to lead the mind down a specific path. |

Batere sounds like a gallente name. Hold on, checking something....Ok, the root seems Intaki. There is an agent named Batere that works for the Syndicate. Cascades.....code word for a region perhaps? Something to do with water. Wicked Creek maybe? Or Perrigen Falls, though that wouldn't make sense since Angels don't operate out there. I doubt Solar Fleet or the rogue drones would like that. Or maybe Omist. I'm thinking Wicked Creek. Maybe a bar planetside somewhere next to a waterfall. |

The key is the word 'Slugs'. The 'Savages' were the Matari, so who are the 'Slugs'?
That could be the key to the next location - which clearly isn't another Matari genesis vault. That also supports the claim that the snatch team got what they were looking for, even if they weren't sure what that was themselves. |

Two theories of mine, neither of which I care to have proven right: Slugs could be Gallente. Being slow and slimy, perfectly describes some aspects of the governing bodies.
Slugs could also refer to something else. If this entire problem is contained within the Heath, it would refer to only a handful of specific places, I think. Keep in mind, they referred to them as "Slug Researchers"
Caldari being business oriented strike me as being easier to bribe, not nearly as 'slimy' or 'slow' and thus not befitting a slug.
If they were going for irony, you could call the Amarr slugs maybe, given how they like to dress.
My money is on something Gallente. Possibly CreoDron. Maybe Roden. |

The Ushra'Khan is endeavouring to mobilise a response force to the Cartel attacks alongside a relief effort to support our Minmatar brethren caught up in these strikes. We are doing so due to the high level of collateral damage that appears to be inflicted.

Ushra'khan successfully delivered urgent supplies via freighter delivery today to the people effected by the angel's unprovoked attack. A blockade was in place to interdict the freighter which quickly scattered under the fire of fleet issue battleships and cruiser's piloted by Ushra'Khans combat arm. The battle was won in less than 60 seconds enabling the much needed medical supplies to reach those in need with no delay.
Let this be a warning to those that wish to attack the Matari people, our reach is not so short as you may think.
