They won an award for how can you say this, innovating basicly. Each year a company gets this award and this year it was ccp :)
and the quote "En n· erum vi komnir me ¦etta ß ¦ann sta a vi erum farnir a horfa til nµstu verkefna, a endurtaka ¦etta og ¦annig tv÷- ea ¦refalda umfangi ß ¦essu ÷llu saman."
translates to
Now are at the place where we have started to look at next projects, to repeat this and double or tripple the scale of this all.

That's a semi-bad thing for EVE though - newborns always get all the attention

That quote doesnt say that they are going to start making a new game, it could also mean more focus and funding being put into enhancing eve.

Absolutely no clue what it is, but would be nice for CCP to release a statement... In English
Congratulations though, I think. --------

Edited by: Vegeta on 05/03/2005 01:16:55 Sort of incorrect translation there, here's the correct one:
"We're at that stage now where we can start thinking about future projects, redo the whole thing and expand it to two or three times its current size"
They're not talking about making Eve 2 or anything.
All this because finally CCP have made a profit off Eve. Eve cost 750 million Icelandic to produce and now, 7-8 years later, they're making a profit.

Profitable status is really good - lets hope they maintain it as for extra projects - well id be sticking with eve if they want to do new projects it means a whole seperate dev team and set up big bucks again
That said a global simualtor something like simcountry (though better put togther)
Dunno i guess when they are ready the publicity will start
They could do something for this game by opening up jove space to players etc
Still im doing my best on unrelated websites i use (fiancial services etc im a investor / stock trader so stock trading websites as a start othre game websites - doing the promotion thing to ge more players esp in australia)

I presume by that you mean they can expand the development of EVE by 2/3 times.
Would be sweet - there is so much potential in EVE, and its player base is still growing daily. --------

Aye there is sooooo much potential in EVE, and it gets really frustrating sometimes, when whole areas of the game which could be improved so much, only instead get minor changes and updates.
But as a software developer I realise it's a whole resources / time issue.
Makes me wish I was millionaire, I would pile a few ISK (real isk) into extra development.
I would expect a great momument to be erected in my honour and my own clothing and underwear range in the EVE store of cause

Sometimes Eve has trouble keeping up with the amount of players it already has (the fact there all huddled up in 5 different systems is beside the point ).... and they want to triple the size of it?
Now thats innovative thinking

True. But what if they did away with jumpgates and a Jumpdrive became to norm which used consumable fuel to determin distance possible in a jump.
What if we could land on planets with mobile armor and air units, claim said planet and defend. wouldn't any corp want a home of their own? And then build cities of sorts on those planets. maybe the "homeless" would have finaly found a place to settle.
The imagination and continued development to me would mean that those clusters you speak of would be broken up.. this was the premis of Exodus I believe, Unfortunatly it fell a little short since 0.0 alliance space still has only 1-3 doorways into it.
Can't wait to see what happens to eve in 2 - 5 years from now.
Congratulations CCP. May all your dreams and ours come true.

Man, imagine, 20 years down the road, and we are all still playing EVE. Imagine ever further, us all kicking ass while we go to the bathroom in our elderly diapers... Thats great, we wouldnt even have to get up to go to the bathroom, we can just play EVE all day. And we will hire people to clean our houses and serve us food while we play! I wonder if Eldery-folks Care Centers can hook up a T1 connection and a kickass network... I dont need no stinkin' medicine! Eve is all the medicine I need! Vin Diesel claims he has never hailed a taxi. He just runs up to them at stop lights, opens the door, shoves the current passenger over, and tells the cab driver what his new destination is. |
